Thread: Clashing Muscles: Machamp vs Conkeldurr

Machamp wins this one, mostly because I like its design better.

The original post certainly caught my eye. "Ogre of ouch." That made my day. XD

Anyway, I say Conkeldurr.

I like the original design and ITS WALKING STICKS ARE CONCRETE PILLARS. I WANT MY GRAMPA TO HAVE PILLAR-WALKER THINGIES!

Definitely Conkeldurr. I think he looks more natural than Machamp, which I think looks rather reptilian. Besides, Conkeldurr is actually more intimidating, and one thing he can do is to use a powerful Mach Punch, which Machamp can't do. It would be interesting if he can learn Prankster, though.

Machamp is like Hulk Hogan on steroids while Conkeldurr is like... Doink the Clown... on steroids...

I prefer Machamp, because it can learn a wider variety of moves, and looks much nicer than Condeldurr.

I'll vote for Conky.

I've only used Machamp from these two,but I still vote for Conky.
I find Machamp more useful and better looking,
but I'm really wanting to try something new here...I'm too used to Machamp.

And Conky also get more deadly Focus Punch.
Even the guys that resist it but are not immune to it will think twice before taking it.

So just pure want to try something new: Conky.

man, I actually felt strongly enough about this to make a profile and post about this, nearly a year to the day since the last post, after I found the thread on google while looking for THIS...

Who would win in a head to head clash? well, Machamps no guard means Dynamic Punches and Cross Chops all day, accuracy be damned. meanwhile Conkelderps Sheer Force means plenty of damage, but no additional effects, and those can make or break a battle. Machamps better special stats might give him an edge, since he has a broader assortment of mix-up moves in his learnable move pool. Conkeldurr has damage, but not much else, and if speed and accuracy guarantee machamp gets first strike and confusion from Dynamic Punch, conkeldurr might end up doing more damage to himself than machamp...

Who is more useful? Machamp has better rounded stats and more speed, and a better move pool/TM compatibility, in my opinion, and No Guard seals the deal. Machamp can also compete in the pokeathlon. Conkeldurr doesn't even have stats listed on bulbapedia, so I'm guessing either he can't compete, or the Pokeathlon doesn't exist in Gen 5.

Who do you prefer? I'm Loyal to the old school, so Machamp by default. however, as a professional artist (read "art school graduate" not "jerk-off on deviantart") I also think Machamp's design is sleeker, less cluttered, more elegant and appealing. the veins, nose, and weird head lump make conkeldurr look like a tumor on steroids. plus Machamps' black trunks and blingin' belt are classy.

Who can inspire more nightmares to pokemon weak to fighting? have you even read their Pokedex entries? Machamp can move a MOUNTAIN... WITH ONE ARM... HE HAS FOUR OF THOSE!!! his punches send foes over the horizon?! he can throw 500 punches per second?! holy Violence, batman! what's Conkeldurr got? some stone pillars... it can swing them... and maybe it can make more if they break. which they will, when Machamp gets a hold of them. I mean, No Guard means he NEVER MISSES. dodgin' with Dig, fly, or dive? too bad, hombre, no guard. gonna double team your evade up? sorry dude, No Guard! think protect or detect will save you? sucka please, NO GUARD! anything with a low defense score gets mauled by bullet punches or Dynamic Punches or heck, any kind of punches.

TL;DR?! LOOK AT THE PIC IN THE LINK! MACHAMP OWNS CONKELDERP FOREVER!

however, this debate does bring to light some (in my opinion) grievous oversights by the developers. for instance... Machamp, "The SUPERPOWER pokemon" doesn't learn the move Superpower. but Conkeldurr does. this is offensive to me. what idiot at game freak overlooked that?! also, Machamp gets the short end of the stick in physical attack power? hogwash. its like they didn't bother reading their own pokedex. or perhaps they just chose to disrespect the originals in favor of gussying up the latest line of imitators. disappointing.

Let's see:

Machamp has No Guard, Dynamic Punch, elemental punches, better defenses and speed. Conkeldurr has monstrous 140 attack, better HP and use for Guts, Mach Punch, Drain Punch, has yet to learn all three elemental punches

I'll probably go with Conkeldurr because 140 attack + Guts + Mach Punch/Drain Punch = PAIN!

Machamp has always been one of my faves and, in my opinion, the quintessential Fighting-type, but I love Conkeldurr even more.

Machamp has good stats, but he can't take hits as well as I like, whilst Conkeldurr's are distributed in a more useful way. Also, considering Machamp is capable of moving a mountain with just one arm and it has 130 Attack, it makes me wonder what sort of terrifying thing Conkeldurr and his 140 Attack could do.

Although I like Machamp in battle more and used it a lot in Emerald Version, I have to go with Conkeldurr. Mainly because Machamp and Machoke (and to a lesser extent, Machop) really, REALLY disturb me. Where do they get their clothing? Why must they be so humanoid? And those bulging muscles... *shiver*
