    Since when did Swampert have the Damp ability, though? All starters of the same type have the same ability, lol.

    Ranked by favoritism deriving from both design and usefulness (largely design):

    - Blastoise
    - Empoleon
    - Feraligatr/Daikenki
    - Swampert

    I dunno, Swampert never really did it for me for some reason.

    I love bulky Pokemon, so I choose Blastoise. As much as I love Mijumaru, its final evolution doesn't cut my mustard. It's not terrible, though.

    Squirtle is my favorite Pokemon, so I spose Blastoise. He is pretty boss. The others are nothing special in my opinion, but still don't know much about Daikenki, seeing as how I don't have White yet.

    You do realize that at the time Blastoise became available in 1996, Steel types wouldn't be anything but fanon for another 3 years? ;_;

    And there isn't really much relation to Steel for Blastoise (save the cannons, I suppose), so retconning it a la Magnemite would've been more trouble than it's worth, not to mention that Charizard would lose the secondary type that gives normal damage to water (due to the type's ridiculous set of resistances save, like, two), and Venusaur's Poison type would become shit, and even Grass wouldn't SE anymore.

    The only reason that Empoleon had the second type was because Torterra gained Ground, and Infernape was a Fighting type like Blaziken (I swear, GameFreak has gotten one hell of a hard-on for this typing).

    Empoleon to me is so unique for it's type and various different traits in battle. I love how it can be defensive and offensive at the same time.
