Blaziken for me. It's my 3rd favorite Starter of all times. I like the Fire/Fighting combination and he's a powerful beast. I don't think too much of Empoleon, too.

Blaziken just because I hated Gen 4 and loved Gen 3

Blaziken. Fighting chicken > penguin. And gen III > IV.

My two favorite starters, good memories with both of them.
Blaziken wins though, sorry pimpin penguin.

Blaziken wins because of speed. Type advantages do not matter in this case as both are SE against each other due to typing.

Well, I have used both of them as starters in Sapphire and Diamond and they are both pretty even.

They can learn moves that aren't their typing...
eg. Blaziken can learn Bounce and Empoleon can learn Drill peck.

They can be trained to change their best stat.
eg. I taught Blaziken a few moves and now it is my best defender apart from metagross.

I once battled an empoleon that knew:
Flash cannon
Hydro cannon
Giga Impact and Blizzard
It had insane attack.

The only difference I can find between them is the other starters.

Blaziken beats Sceptile and its fighting type trait beats Swamperts ground type trait.

Imfernapes fighting type trait beats Empoleons steel type trait and Torterras ground type trait beats it too.


Because of that, Blaziken is considered better in my eyes.

I was tempted to pick Empoleon, but I chose Blaziken. I do believe that others have explained why the flaming chicken is awesome.

Blaziken. I like it a lot.

Blaziken is one of the best starters in the pokemon world. It wins hands down.

Man, they both rule. Blaziken wins my vote though.

blaziken. it would get first strike with sky uppercut and it has more of a third type attribute than empoleon. Empoleon: drill peck while blaziken has bravebird. do the math oops i think i forgot to mention that apparently blaziken has speed boost in DW abilities. that makes it even better. that even gives it more of an upperhand on infernape.(not to get off topic)

Empoleon. I love its typing.

I do like Blaziken as well, as its the original fire/fighting starter.
My personal preference is just Empoleon.

Im not sure who will win! I mean, there's a type disadvantage becasue Blaziken is fire (and fighting) and Empoleon is Water! So, im not sure.
