Thread: Blaziken vs Empoleon

I am very surprised this match hasn't been done yet. (I think, the search function brought nothing, so I guess it's safe)
So...
vs

The things they have in common should be quite obvious. Both are starters based on birds, of entirely opposing types. Both can hit each other for super effective hits. One is more defensive and the other more offensive.

Now, against each other, Empoleon despite being a water type is in high type-disadvantage due to its steel type. Also because of its not high enough defenses and its slow speed.

Either way:
- Which would win in a match?
- Which is more useful?
- Which do you actually preffer, for whichiever reason?

I actually like Empoleon a lot... but Blaziken is still my favorite.

I prefer Blaziken.

Blaziken FTW, even if Empoleon would win in a battle.

Empoleon is my third favorite Water Starter (I just don't like it as much as Blastoise or Feraligatr. Meh, at least it's better than Daikenki and Swampert)

Blaziken, on the other hand, is the only Fire Starter I like (and one of the few Fire types I even care for).

Based on that, I'll have to say Blaziken. Empoleon's still awesome though.

Empoleon is better in my opinion. It is pretty good defensively...

Blaziken is without a doubt the best starter ever. It can easily defeat empoleon too.

Blaziken, but if Empoleon weren't so damn slow, it'd rape him with a spiked dil- something like Bubblebeam. A Quick claw or Focus band wouldn't hurt (mine's Hasty natured, and it's still slow as fuck), if they work, that is.

Design-wise, I like Blaziken a bit better, but it ain't no Quilava or the Charmander line.

Empoleon. I like his looks and I also like Water types more than Fire types.

Now that Blaziken has access to Speed Boost, I prefer it.

Damn... I love them both, but Empoleon is going to have to get the edge just because it's a water starter.

I vote for Empoleon, because of its typing, and its not fire/fighting. (Because that typing is getting old)

To be fair, Blaziken was the original Fire/Fighter. The typing started with her. Then the monkey and the pig copied it. It's not really her fault and you shouldn't blame her for it.

I've noticed you refer to some Pokemon species as male and some as female. How do you determine which you use? And why do you put a gender specific pronoun on an entire species?
