Thread: Blastoise vs Swampert

Got to be Swampert. I have to say though, this one was a toughie. I do really like Blastoise but Swampert beats him just by that tiny inch.

The first game I completed was Sapphire. I started with Mudkip and Swampert worked really well for me. So Swampert is better I think.

THESE AREN'T EVEN SIMILAR! Seriously guys, at least compare pokemon that are considered counterparts, or have similar stats/movepools/stuff like that. These aren't even the same type. Maybe Blastoise vs. Feraligatr, or Swampert vs. Empoleon, but I think they've been done already...big surprise.

They're both bulky water defensive Water Starters of Odd numbered generations and were the featured Water starters of Gen III. But y'know, they have nothing in common

So out of the things that matter in comparisons, all they have in common is that theyre bulky and water type.

Second, they both appear in parallel running games. In fact, they were both the Water Starter choices within the same generation.

Third, they're both primarily defensive Water Pokemon. With fantastic bulk and good support movepools, these two Pokemon help define the term "Bulky Water". It's interesting to note that in a battle, these two Pokemon are quite evenly matched. Moreso than any other Starter, I'd wager. I mean, Blastoise can hit Swampert with STAB Hydro Pump (coming off an average Sp. Atk and hitting an average Sp. Def) for neutral damage but Swampert can hit back with neutral STAB Earthquake (coming off a great Atk but hitting a great Def) so the victor is actually not that clear cut.

Feraligatr and Empoleon are offensive Pokemon (former is physical while latter is special) and their build is more similar to each other.

Blastoise and Swampert are defensive Pokemon with similar builds. At least, compared to the other Water Starters.

Also, they're both Odd numbered Generation Starters and, by extension, Pokemon whereas the other two are even numbered.

They're also the two shortest fully evolved Water Starters. Actually, the only Starter shorter than them is Infernape, so they're two of the shortert Starters in general.

What more do you want?

Gotta go with the original Starter final evo. Not to mention because Squirtle's awesome.

And all those years I played Pokemon Ruby ago, I never knew what the heck Swampert really was. I wasn't aware that a Mud Fish was a real thing. So I kinda skipped on Mudkip because I didn't know what it was.

Blastoise, even though technically Swampert would win. I love high pressure cannons.

I liek swampurtz. Their ground type gives them a 4X weakness to *the best type*, but its design is awesome.

Probably Blastoise, I'm more of a fan of the 1st gen pokes like Electrode, Gengar and Clefable.

Blastoise is the most epic shit to ever be created by GameFreak. He's like, my favorite Pokemon and he can pwn all other Pokemon out there because he's got motherfuckin' cannons on his back. What more do you want?

I'd personally go with Blastoise - his design is better IMO, and I've gotten more use out of him than Swampert.
