Meh, I decided that I might as well go all the way and pit all the starters against their respective Isshu counterparts. I've already done all the Grass Starters vs Serperior, so this time, let's take a look at the Water Starters, yeah?

First up: the classic versus the new. Blastoise, the first Water Starter in existence, vesrus Samurott, the latest.

Who'd win in a fight?

Blastoise is my favorite Water Starter of all time, and one of my top ten favorite Pokemon, so this decision is easy for me. I like Daikenki's design a lot, but it's stats, movepool and typing are just too unimpressive and bland for me to seriously consider it. Blastoise, on the other hand, has great defenses, excellent bulk, amazing defensive typing, is actually faster than Daikenki and has great utility with Rapid Spin to get rid of the omnipresent Stealth Rocks. Also, Blastoise has cannons, that alone is enough. So, much as I like Daikenki, Blastoise takes the lead here.

On a side note, how sad is it that both Venusaur and Charizard recieve healing moves (Synthesis and Roost respectively) but Blastoise, the one that needs it the most, doesn't? No wonder it gets outclassed by Milotic.

Daikenta looks like Swampert with a unicorn horn...I like Blastoise for he was my first pokemon

Never was a Blastoise fan, so the answer is obvious. Can't say I like Daikenki as a Mijumaru evolution, but it's a damn cool Pokemon nonetheless.

It's...a tie for me, with Blastoise barely winning due to Kanto pride.

In a fight, I'd say Blastoise wins.

For usefulness, my Blastoise has saved me a lot more times than my friend's Daikenki.

I prefer Blastoise. He has cannons. In his shell. No seashell horn can top that.

I choose Daikenki. He seems offensive, which is a good thing, and I think Grass Knot would be troublesome for Blastoise, and Daikenki happens to be able to learn Grass Knot.

I like Daikenki more but only by small margin.

Voted for Blastoise due to well, him just being my personal favorite since Gen I.

I simply cannot be objective on this one. Just look at my name and avatar and you'll know who I voted for.

While I love both of them, Blastoise is my favourite Pokémon of all times. There are many reasons for that. He was my first Pokémon ever, he is a Water type, has an awesome design, and is a great Pokémon otherwise. Naturally, I choose Blastoise. Any time, any place.

This one was hard for me. I eventually just went with the underdog Daikenki (only for that reason).

I've always loved Blastoise sine Gen I.

Blastoise is by far one of the coolest Pokemon in my view, however, Daikenki looks beast.

In terms of looks, I'd say Daikenki, purely because I don't like turtles :3

In terms of battle, I'd say Blastoise, Daikenki's base defence is just pathetic to be fair, all the new starters are just weak in defence, what is up with that?

In terms of usefulness, it's a tie. Daikenki has powerhoused me through 4 gyms currently, however, Blastoise saved me against the E4 by lasting five turns on 1 hp to allow me to revive my entire team.

Overall, I'd say a tie :3 Blastoise is awesome, but his looks aren't as good as Daikenki's though Blastoise's shell cannons rock...

Daikenki for all. A sea lion can beat a turtle in my opinion.
