Thread: Battle of the Pointless Normal Types!

Every year GameFreak throws in a pointless normal type that seems to stalk you at the start of your game. I was wondering what your favourite was? Now obviously they all suck...

My favourite is Bidoof, so I can HM Slave it when it evolves xD

Zigzagoon evolves into something that's actually somewhat decent-ish, so that's my choice.

The first runner-up is Sentret because Furret is adorable.

Patrat because for once the early rat does not show up for the entire frigging game.

Bidoof cuz it can evolve into Bibarel, the perfect HM slave.

I say Sentret exclusively because of Furret.

Rattata... eh, Raticate can make for a surprisingly good early boss, learning decent-power moves with blazing speed early on. But otherwise I don't really care about it.

Bidoof... I honestly never saw its... thing. I guess it's silly. So it's good.

Zigzagoon simply irritates me for some reason. I don't like it.

Patrat looks like something out of a deranged cartoon of dark humor. The kind of thing that haunted your nightmares when you were very young.

Hmmm..my vote goes to Patrat of course i don't care to much for him but then again i think he's a decent pokemon, i think his evolution looks pretty cool. it was actually hard for me to decide either Patrat or Zigzagoon since i like both their evolution's, but talking pre-evolution i would have to go with Patrat..

First of all I think that it is disingenuous to call them pointless as it is pretty much necessary to catch one to help you in the beginning of these games if you are just starting otu without any traded Pokemon. I would choose either Rattata or Zigzagoon personally and when it came down to it I just have to pick Zigzagoon because of it's cute little voice in the anime. Rattata is a close second though!

So really my answer is Sentret which evolves into the best pokemon ever. Furret!

I voted for Zigzagoon becuase of Pick Up. It is the ORIGINAL pick upper, in times when you could get very early some goodies as Ultraballs, revives, etc. My runner-up is Rattata, feel the FEAR xd. just kidding, just because i got a shiny one in SS, loved it blue eyes. Now I remember, I also got both a shiny Zigzagoon and a Shiny Linoone the first time i played Sapphire (the zigzagoon caguht in the forest, linoone outside the safari zone).

Rattata is a BAMF and you all know it! Fess up!

In all seriousness I love Sentret. It's actually useful if you train it right (read: if you actually bother to keep one in your party).

While I object to these Pokemon being called pointless (they have a point, which is to become powerful quickly and help you early-game), my favourite is definitely Sentret. The shtick of standing on it's tail is really awesome, and I like how it looks like some kind of sugar glider/flying squirrel. To bad it's by far the weakest of the early game Normal types >_>

Rattata. Quite funnily, after learning Hyper Fang at suck a low level it becomes one of the best in game Pokemon early on.

Zigzagoon for its looks and its ability.

My Rattata's in the top percentage of Rattata. You know?

In a little more seriousness, Raticate's actually quite a beast. Same with Rattata. Plus I just like them. Good ol' Zigzagoon gets a close second because coolness.
