Reality is a dream
Would it be interesting to read this?
A story, about a person who is a pokemon biologist as well as a trainer. He travels around, not only to fight, but to observe pokemon, study them and make a lexicon - the pokedex, if you may. This means there'll be a lot of focus on the "techy" aspects of pokemon, taking pokemon from a biological point of view, going deep into their physiology, habitats and behaviors, that sort of thing.
That isn't to say there won't be other stuff. Traveling, training, battling, insidious plots and characters with deep thoughts and such (I can't write a story without going all ballistic with philosophical thoughts and plots)
Anyway, so yeah. It's mainly that biology aspect I'm talking about. It'll be relevant to the main plot in some ways, but generally it's because I wanted something slightly different, yet without deviating too much. The question is - assuming it's written well -: would such a thing be interesting? I'm just wondering how deep into it one could go before it gets boring (I'd stop before the very jargon-y parts no matter, though).

Go for it!
It's original, so I'd check it out, but it depends on how well written it is, if I'm going to continue reading it.
But yeah it sounds interesting.
COMING SOON!

Re: Would it be interesting to read this?
Well, since I won fanfic of the month with my first (and sadly discontinued) fic, I think I may have the "well written" aspect all down ;P
But, uh, speaking in public implores me to be humble, so I shall rather say that I hope I'm good enough, and that I'll strive my best to make it good!
Thanks for positive support. A writer is nothing without people to fuel their ego loyal and supportive readers

I think it sounds like an interesting, cool idea. I would probably check it out if I had any spare time. You should totally go for it.

Re: Would it be interesting to read this?
I'll start writing tomorrow! P: I have a thousand plot bunnies to implement, and given that this will be a really long story by the looks of it (gotta study ALL the pokemon), I have a lot of freedom with having various plots, subplots, characters, and so forth. In general it will, at least after a few chapters, fall into a more story arc-based style, like your average animanga - but with a consistent plot brewing in the background.

Originality attracts readers. Give it a shot & make sure it's something you wanna include in your story.

I, for one, am instantly intrigued. It's certainly original, and sounds most interesting. I strongly encourage you to go ahead with this idea.
+1 potential reader/reviewer for you.

Re: Would it be interesting to read this?
Hmm, the issue is, I have this other plot that I'm strongly enjoying writing right now. Darn you, plot bunnies.
I might do it in the fashion of a sort of extended pokedex, where I just write up my interpretation of the pokes' physiology, habits, social behavior and stuff like that, as there's a limit to how much I can mix into a story. On the other hand, I want to have a plot around it as well, as described above. DARN you, plot bunnies. But I can add that to the Author's Atlas as a supplement, I guess?
Well, I'll write what I feel like, and it'll be up when I feel like. But it will come ; )
