I've had cases where songs actually inspired part of the story. Such songs thus far include "Skid Row (Downtown)" from Little Shop of Horrors, "Bennie and the Jets" by Elton John, and "Ichirin no Hana (Huge Hollow Mix)" by High and Mighty Color.

YouTube projects advertised are in early development and subject to change.

I have no writing music, but hearing certain tracks can have an effect on what I write next (as I don't play music while I write)

I'm always listening to music, writing is no exception. As for what I listen too, it varies. I listen to copious amounts of Two Steps from Hell. Anything from their Nemesis, Legend, or Dynasty albums, but not those exclusively. I also listen to a lot of Pokemon soundtrack songs and their remixes while I write. Practically all of my good scenes are inspired by music.

usually theatrical music. And from there, if I'm writing something for a different mood I narrow down my music selection to something that fits the mood. Sometimes I keep a certain verse on replay just so I can have that feel in my writing.

This spurred me to write a scene where Brock did a song and tap dance routine in one of my early fics, complete with spontaneous chorus line of backup singers. (I had to "extend" it to fit the scene, though.)

Celtic music is my biggest influence, especially in "Magic of a Melody":

This is for battles of all flavors

This is when I want to play someone being heroic for laughs--but I have used it to play the trope straight

This is my "When we last left our heroes...." music or someone is giving the heroes info

    -Professor Layton soundtrack
    -Phoenix Wright Series soundtrack
    -Ace Attorney Investigations soundtrack
    -Ghost Trick soundtrack

Basically, I listen to music from video games that involve thinking, as it tends to make me think slightly better than when I don't have music playing.

Anything by Sabaton and Hammerfall along with assorted trailer music for intense/violent scenes.

Astral Projection and Zetan Spore for "general" writing.

I will post up a full list later.

usually country music (that's a Godo for you!), but sometimes i listen to game music

"Hello Goodbye, Twas nice to know you
    "Hello Goodbye, I'm rather crazy
How I find myself without you
And I never thought I was crazy
    That I'll never know
    But what do I know?
    I let myself go"
    Now you have to go"

Lady Gaga usually. Besides that, maybe Rihanna (pre-Only Girl in the World) or classical music. It doesn't inspire me, though, the words just flow better when I listen to it.

Shall I let this seep out...? Whoops, too late!

Video game music, ranging from Sonic the Hedgehog to Super Mario Galaxy to SSBB. Lawl. So beast, though! But lately, I've been listening to these two tracks...

    Mt. Coronet. DPPt
    Sinjoh Ruins. HGSS

    Nostalgic me.

Aside from video game music and certain anime openers...
I usually listen to nightwish, within temptation. They just have a...unique feel to them that sometimes will give me ideas I never really thought of before. And they sound really really cool :3

Depends on what I'm writing - I listen to tracks related to that. My general Pokémon writing playlist contains music from several movie, anime and game soundtracks, with an emphasis on Pokémon media. Several are drawn particularly from these albums and Yoko Shimomura (Last Ranker, Kingdom Hearts).

Nightwish is one those things that I listen to for general writing. I also listen to video game music for general writing OR intense/violent scenes.

These are a sample of my "intense/violent" scene music: Primo Victoria (Sabaton), Riders of the Storm (Hammerfall), Metal Machine (Sabaton), By Any Means Necessary (Hammerfall)
