Re: Fate of a villain.
Overkill= 200 points of damage. :D Makes me think of Glory of Heracles... That was a good game.
Anyway, you could totally do all of them. Leave his teeth though- he should at least be able to eat. Show a little humanity! XD Kidding, but I wouldn't want to be the one with my hand in his mouth when he decides to clamp his jaw shut or loose a hyper beam. You wouldn't NEED a border patrol, but you could still do it that nice little finishing touch because there is no guarantee that Flygon is dead. Or if you're a really mean author (like myself) and like to mess with your readers- you could have Ben want the Border patrol because he doesn't know that Flygon is truly dead, the other Pokemon tell him that there's no way that Flygon survived and then at the very last scene, show Flygon being aided by another Flygon or someone else who's goal is to keep him alive and help him heal. >:D And then never say anything else about it.

Re: Fate of a villain.
How exactly are thy going to de-claw him and rip his wings off anyway? I don't think Ampharos learns any cutting moves, but Scizor does.

Re: Fate of a villain.
You could use Scizor. Or there's also the option of breaking his wings (hard to heal) That could be done with a well-placed trap that drops a big rock or... A little brute strength which most pokemon are capable of. As long as an Ampharos can learn Strength it is still logical. And a battle between them doesn't necessarily have to be linear to the game- just two beasts who aren't fond of each other at the least battling against each other in any way they can.

Re: Fate of a villain.
True! We're already taking a bit of creative licence with the Pokemon anyway- for example, Togepi cannot learn Metronome until level 7, and the Togepi in our story is actually a 3 year old human (although I'm thinking about amping him and his brother 5 so a they have a fighting chance) turned into a Togepi (his brother turned into a Bulbasaur, their parents are a Togetic and Ivyaur) and somehow magically knows Metronome even though he's still young.
And Pokemon can learn an unlimited amount of moves, although there are some moves they use less or more often than others for convenience sake. And Reviver Seeds? Although technically, you can't do this in-game, there is a scene where one of our characters (a human-turned-Kricketune named Randy, whom has been through atleast one other near death experience before. Poor guy. Ironically, he's based around my favorite character, Radio from TBLT series, and yet I'm treating him terribly- he's a Vietnam War veteran, has lost his left arm because of the war and has a prothetic, has lost his wife in a car accident...) gets crushed by a rock, sacrificing his own life to save his best friend (a human-turned-Raichu named Luke) and "repay his debt" to him from long ago (Luke save him from commiting suicide years ago, and Randy wants to return the favor someday), and instead of the Reviver Seed activating automatically like it does in-game, they luckily find one in their bag and stick it in his mouth... and it works! Also, Randy has a rival, an Altaria named Dean whom is vying for the hand of a Clefable they both like, who knows Sky Attack... and he's in his level 50s. Although there might be one little explanation for that, in Gen. I there WAS a TM for Sky Attack, so maybe Dean found an ancient TM that gave him the move.
Oh, and by the way, we always like to have 'voices' for all out characters. Guess who is voicing Flygon? Steve Buscemi, AKA the voice of Randall from Monsters Inc.

Re: Fate of a villain.
See? Stick enough to the games that they won't get mad, and change the details to your heart's content. I do it all the time in my story... My fan fic is pretty much a giant conspiracy that I made up that masterminds the games and centers around one OC, named Sam. Difference being that I change the details... and explain everything from the big concepts of the game to the tiniest details.
Yeah, I pretty much got rid of the 4-move rule in my fan fic too. I decided that they would just have a more limited number of main moves that they use as opposed to going crazy. I tend to stick to the rules on what they can learn but that's just to keep the level of 'that is actually possible!?' up there. But, hey- most people aren't going to Google every move to see if the respective pokemon can actually learn it. So I say, you can totally do whatever. If it was possible once in one game, it's possible in all the others in the pokemon realm.
Aw... That's really cool. Randall was a good villain... I liked him. ^^ Dang that's cool... Makes me think that maybe I should at least find the voice for my main OC Sam... Hmm. It would give me something to do since I've got writer's block like no other right now.

Re: Fate of a villain.
Although, I have to wonder now. With all the stuff that's happening to Flygon now, how is this not going to be a Curb Stomp Battle? Also, Timmy (a human-turned- Pichu who has befriended Ben) is going to be there as well. Partially to call back to when Ben went after his father even though he was supposed to stay home, and partially because Timmy doesn't think Ben needs to fight alone, especially when there is a chance Ben could die in the battle. What could he do to help? Pichu can't learn all that many moves. Only effective moves I see (looking at Bulbapedia at Gen. 5 moves, although I probably hould be looking Gen. 4 seeing as B/W hasn't happened yet in our story) are Toxic, Hidden Power, Light Screen, Protect, Rain Dance (it's already raining in the scene, so that'll be useless), Frustration, Return, Double Team, Facade, Rest Attract (Timmy and Flygon are both guys. Completely useless.) Round, Echoed Voice, Fling, Flash, Grass Knot, Swagger, Substitute, Charm, Tail Whip, Sweet Kiss, Nasty Plot, and DoubleSlap (last one is explainatory because his parents are here, and his mother is a Wigglytuff and his father a Raichu, so he knows Volt Tackle as well). Hmmm... perhaps it is finally time for Timmy to evolve? Then again, this part takes place BEFORE taking on Darkrai, and you can't evole in-game until afterwards when Manaphy comes back.
This is a fun topic! I love thinking of new ideas! :)

Re: Fate of a villain.
Alright- I'm back!
I... Don't know what a Curb Stomp Battle is. :\ Otherwise I'd say something hopefully useful.
Timmy, Timmy, Timmy... Let's see- Well, Toxic gives you the poison if you want to take that route... Hidden Power could also be very useful depending on what type you make it. Light Screen... Eh. But Protect? The battle could still be very close between the two. Towards the end, both are breathing heavily and Ben (being old) is having troubles. They separate from their combat and while they're apart, Flygon uses Hyper Beam- but Timmy uses Protect and saves Ben! Frustration, Return, Double Team, Facade, Rest and Pound aren't necessary... Echoed Voice is 5th gen (isn't it?) Fling isn't any good. Flash.... Timmy could use Flash to blind Flygon momentarily to give Ben a chance to recover during the fight. Grass Knot is 5th... Swagger, Charm, Tail Whip, Sweet Kiss, Nasty Plot, and DoubleSlap aren't any good. However, substitute is because it, again, could be used to protect Ben from something. :) I don't think he needs to evolve, Timmy is fine the way he is.
It is fun... I'm really enjoying this! ^^

Curb-Stomp Battle - Television Tropes & Idioms
here ya go!
Also remembered another baddie, although he's more of a rival than anything really evil, whom is an Altaria named Dean whom is a "love rival" for Randy. Before I ask you something, I have to ask, have you ever heard of/watched a show from the 90s called The Critic? if you haven't, there is a season two episode called "Sherman, Woman and Child" that involved Jay Sherman meeting his love interest Alice for the first time, and they are attracted to eachother, but when Jay comes over to see Alice and ask her on a date, her ex-husband Cyrus is there. Jay and Cyrus battle for Alices heart, by singing out their own. Jay wins over Alice, and Cyrus leaves at first saying "I'm never gonna give up-" but then notices someone else "Hey gorgeous! What's your name?" and doesn't look back. Jay confesses his love for Alice, who returns it, and they kiss and the episode ends.
There is a little subplot we thought of for Randy (actually there is three, but this one is the biggest. The others are Manaphy and solving a murder mystery with the Guildmasters/Rescuemasters partner Amphy) that is based around this episode. Randy is woken up from being unconscious after his little Dimensional Hole trip by a lovely Clefable named Lilly and her little Cleffa sister Aisling, and is taken to Lillys house on the outskirts of Light City (which in this world is basically Olivine and Goldenrod combined thanks to a "Great Catastrophe" several years ago. It's a long story.). After getting to know eachother, Randy and Lilly start to fall in love. He feels that it's time to confess his feelings to Lilly, but just before he does so, he notices someone else in the house: an Altaria with a southern accent named Dean! Oh no! Turns out he's Lillys ex-boyfriend, and he wants her back badly. Lilly kicks him out before the two can start fighting, and you'd think we'd end that subplot right there... but we don't. Dean says "I ain't never gonna give up!" before Lilly slams the door, and Dean is actually serious. Later on, when Randy and Lilly are in Brine Cave (the place where Lapras is, and where Randy has his close encounter with the Grim Reaper), Dean attacks him from behind and Randy and Dean fight for real this time! The only problem I'm having with that fight in particular is, Randy is technically supposed to lose to Dean (I think.) and is knocked out, and when he starts to come to, Dean starts charging up Sky Attack, but Lilly notices this and uses Lucky Chant on Randy which saves him from Dean, after this, something makes Dean go away (I think Lilly stops him) and he leaves the cave. Dean does show up at the end of the story, when everyone goes home (and yes, Lilly and Aisling are going too. So are several other characters.) and tells Randy to take good care of Lilly. What is it that finally stops Dean?

Re: Fate of a villain.
Whoa... Well, okay... Well, I think that as long as the fight is hard on both sides it won't be a Curb Stomp. A big mistake that some authors make and one that I have made myself is trying to shorten and compress something that should be let to run free. When you write this battle, if it takes 7 pages then let it take 7 pages. Take it as far as it needs to go without going too far. When you try to squeeze something in to a certain length span- you end up taking short cuts to trim down the length... In reality, you're making mistakes that are clearly shortcuts. Ben is old, you said that, so a big battle like this isn't going to be easy for him. The Flygon is going to have the advantage in strength- but Ben has to have the determination and the little Timmy to save him from death. I know- I've done it... Thank god my Beta reader caught it cuz it was not pretty. At all.
So is this rival is in the same story... Or a different one?
You seemed to doubt some of what you were telling me... Like the fight scene and Lilly stopping Dean. Are you just not sure on your plot yet, or not quite sure how you're going to do it, or is this kinda your co-writer's thing and you're not entirely clear on what he/she is planning yet?
Anyhoo, Dean doesn't necessarily sound like a really bad guy. Making him more likable will make your readers agonize over which of the two they like. If you want to play off his better qualities than perhaps in his love for Lilly he ultimately decided that all he wants is for her to be happy... And if he's not who makes her happy, then maybe it's time he let her go. He realizes that he's making her unhappy, maybe even cry and that's not what he wants. So he leaves, but he wants to make sure that nothing ever happens to her- so tells (perhaps threatens) Randy to take good care of her no matter what and to never let anyone hurt her. And maybe he left and broke up with her years ago because of some trouble he had- so he left her even though he didn't want to just to keep her safe. While he's gone, he has someone else watch over her in his place. Then, when it's finally safe to come back, she's taken by another guy. D:
... ... Wow... Well, isn't that romantic. ^^

Re: Fate of a villain.
Dean: Same story. Just not sure how the fight is going to go, or how it's going to end. I mean, what's stopping Dean from just pushing Lilly lightly out of the way and just outright killing Randy? Dean just can't get it through his thick head that Lilly doesn't love him anymore.
Flygon VS Ampharos: I'm not sure how exactly we're going to write out this scene either. Although I did have a dream last night about a possible fate for Flygon: they launch him out of a cannon, where he lands far away in the mountains. He's just having a lovely day, isn't he? His claws are gone, his wings are broken, he's been beaten up, he can barely move, he's been exiled to some unknown place, and now he has a headache from the landing. To make matter worse for him, night is falling, and he hears some eerie howls close by him looking for an easy meal...

Re: Fate of a villain.
Well... Clefable aren't exactly weak. I mean, they can kick a$$. If you look at all the TM's that it can learn- Oooh boy, you've got a pink fairy avatar of destruction... Including numerous electric type moves that could very well leave Dean temporarily paralyzed so they can escape. Or maybe she punches him (mega punch) in the face and he's just so stunned that he doesn't move. Just stares at her and Randy while they flee?
Nnn... I wouldn't do the cannon. I mean, it works- but I'm not sure where they'd get the cannon. It's not quite logical.

Re: Fate of a villain.
Oh, I know Clefable aren't weak! I have one on my Leafgreen file: Mega Kick, Meteor Mash, Psychic, and Strength if I recall correctly. Her name was Aisling (Irish name that translates to fairy), I would have named her Lilly, but I was going for all 'A' names. Hahahaha! Her punching him sounds funny! or... maybe Mega Kick! that's even MORE powerful!

Re: Fate of a villain.
Hee hee... It's always the little pink fairy pokemon that battle like beasts... Let's see... In RSE I got a Jigglypuff/Wigglybuff and named it Muffy even though it was a boy. Pearl I kept the Happiny and raised to a monster of a Blissey. And in Black I had a team of two Audino and two Audino only for every gym leader but the last. So much fun. XD
Punching Dean would be hysterical. Kicking him would also be comical and effective. :P Either would work.

Re: Fate of a villain.
I know the cannon would be silly, it was just a dream after all. Then again, the ideas for these stories originally came from dreams. Originally I didn't want to write them for two reasons, 1: I wasn't all that good of a writer back then. and 2: I was afraid I would focus too much on a... certain character, which would eventually turn out to be Randy, seeing as he is based on Radio from the Brave Little Toaster movies.
...Part of me wants to continue this whole fun conversation in PM messages so a I won't get penalized for posting off topic. I really want to tell you about the stories me and Caitlyn are working on.

Dreams can be a great source of inspiration- though he could still be dropped into the wilderness by other dragons? And ahh yes, I can totally understand the hesitation in posting a story- I hesitated myself at first for reasons of my own. (And God, it's been forever since I saw The Brave Little Toaster...)
0_0 You can get penalized for that? By all means then, let's take this to PM's, lol. I'd love to hear about your stories :)
