This is a competition for elite spriters across the forums. Firstly it is invite only, and therefore only the very best will be involved. I enjoy seeing sprites of a good quality, therefore I want the best spriters competing. Invites will be sent out sometime this morning, don't flame me if you don't get one.

EDIT: ALL INVITATIONS HAVE BEEN DISTRIBUTED.

This competition will focus on technical spritework - therefore scratching, pixel-overs, customs, etc. I understand many users will not know how to do pixel-overs, look up a tutorial, you'll get it in no time. None of the entries in the competition may be animated.

There will be five rounds, two spriters will be eliminated after each round, and at the end of the final round, the public will decide the winner through a poll. I am the only judge for the first 4 rounds, don't ask to be one.

The winner will recieve a trophy, and the title of the most elite spriter of the forums. I essentially created this to find out who the very best spriter on the forum is. 2nd and 3rd will also recieve trophies.

So, let's get down to business.

Round 1: Scratch any fully evolved Pokemon from the 2nd Generation. Ends: 18/09/10.

Round 2: Scratch any Pokemon from the 1st Generation, and make it look like it is using an attack. Ends 25/09/10

Round 3: Make scratches for a 3 stage evolution line, from any generation. (e.g. Pidgey, Pidgeotto, Pidgeot, or Lotad, Lombre, Ludicolo) Ends 4/10/10.

Round 4: Make a pixel-over of two Pokemon in battle with eachother. These may be two individual pixel-overs with scratched features, or an anime scene. Ends 12/10/10.

Round 5: Make a sprite-sized scratch, a larger scratch, and a pixel-over of the same Pokemon, it may be whichever Pokemon you want.

If you're going to make this to see the overall champion spriter, don't you think you should have half decided by you and the rest of the decision done by votes? Otherwise, it's just one person's opinion on who is the best spriter, even if you are an experienced spriter like yourself.

I like this idea if we want accurate results. He did say he wanted to be the only judge, though...

That is a good idea actually. What I think I'll do is choose the eliminations, and then put up a poll for the final two? Or would you guys like more of a say?

Not sure about everyone else but that sounds great to me!
And I love jungleboooks entry! Something about the dark eyes gives it some sort of extra touch, I think...

Oh and just to clarify, this isn't to find the best spriter. (as we all know it's me xD) No seriously, there are lots of other talented spriters who are either inactive, and others who won't be able to enter, so it's not gonna be official or anything. But you'll still have knocked out some top quality artists.

I'll cook something up whenever I get the chance to. And thanks for the invite. ^^;

But I actually WILL get something up. XD I'm not just saying that this time...lol.

Oh, right, and a question: will the 90x90 size limit count or anything? If not, is it okay if I kinda make something that's more close to the size of a pixel art rather than the size of a 90x90 Pokemon sprite?

If not, that's fine. I just needed to make sure.

EDIT: Just to make sure, gen 2 is like feraligatr and typhlosion right? So I can make one of raikou or lugia or pidgeot?

I suppose it doesn't matter hugely but I'd like to keep control over this, we'll say 150x150 as a maximum.
