Normally, if a Pokemon I was after tried to heal itself I would do everything in my power to prevent that, especially if I’d spent as much time wearing it down as I had Aero. As it was, Aero was simply too weak to go on at this rate, even with Databyte holding back most of its power. I’d need to try and get it down to its last dregs of strength in one go. It was so close to fainting now that even the slow chipping we were doing to its flagging health might be enough to knock it out.

Databyte was already ahead of me, though. It understood the situation maybe even better than I did, and instead of attacking Aero in its moment of vulnerability, the P-Z instead focused its bright yellow eyes on its foe. A red shimmer started to spread from its pupils, soon overcoming the natural yellow hue of it eyes. It looked eerie when Databyte used its Lock-On attack, like it was turning evil or something. The first few times it had done it had made me uneasy, but now it didn’t bother me at all.

Databyte tracked Aero’s every moment for a second, then steadied its gaze as the crimson glow funneled into two beams, one for each eye. These beams shot towards Aero’s chest, not meant to hurt, but simply to focus all of Databyte’s considerable attention on the pteradon. Its intent to watch Aero would be so keen that nothing the stone-bodied Pokemon could do would shake Databyte’s attention. It’s focus would only let up once it had finished whatever it was planning.

Next, the manmade Pokemon started channeling energy from itself and the air around it, drawing power from the static electricity created from its various Electric moves over the past several minutes. As the energy passed through Databyte and was ejected again, it took on the form of a glittering, multi-colored sphere that hovered about a foot away from the supercomputer. The was raw, condensed energy, and Databyte only gathered enough to form a ball roughly the size of a tennis ball. There was quite a bit of power packed into that tiny orb, though. Even at only five percent power, Databyte’s Hyper Beam could take a fair chunk out of Aero’s health.

Luckily, during this time Aero had had some time to recover a bit of HP. Perhaps not as much as the Roost could normally restore, but enough that a weakened Hyper Beam wouldn’t be enough of a risk to knock it out. In fact, there was a good chance it wouldn’t even knock Aero back down into the red. But Databyte surprised me with its next move, and once again I was reminded that we were two entirely different entities with entirely different ways of thinking.

When Databyte fired its Hyper Beam, the attack went a bit wide to the left of Aero’s head. It looked like a near-hit, which should have been impossible because of Databyte’s previous Lock-On. Moments after passing its intended target, though, the beam suddenly split down the middle into six smaller tendrils, which looped back around. None of these hit Aero; instead, the sparkling, popping mini Hyper Beams whipped and snaked around the Pokemon like brilliantly-colored serpents.

It took me a second to realize what was going on. Databyte, it seemed, had not deleted all of its super-effective and neutral-damage moves when initiating the NVE Strategy. It appeared to have kept Psychic in its data banks, not to use as an outright offensive move, but more like a passive one to bolster its attacks. Still, it was a bit disconcerting that the move had remained. Being Docile Natured meant Databyte always followed every command to the letter. Then again, it also had a much higher level of thinking than I did, and it was possible that it had found a loophole in my orders. After all, I had never said anything like, “Delete all moves unless they are somehow useful to the NVE Strategy” or the like.

That explanation left me feeling better about the situation and glad that Databyte wasn’t going rogue on me. Not that I would have been against a bit of deviation from the norm, but such a thing was pretty much unheard of from my P-Z and would have been a bit troubling.

It became obvious that Databyte’s Lock-On and Hyper Beam were simple distractions, meant to allow Aero to regain some health while preventing it from getting too much. It also refrained from instantly beating that energy right back out of the pteradon, waiting instead to see how the current situation would play out before deciding what moves would be best. As the red glow faded from its eyes and the Hyper Beams exploded around its head and wings, I called out to the P-Z.

“Exit NVE Strategy,” I said, and immediately the Pokemon fell still. It beeped once to acknowledge it was ready to receive outside orders again, and I nodded once. Aero might not have gained the full effect of its Roost, but even if it got back only twenty-five or thirty percent of its HP back, the NVE Strategy wouldn’t do us much good now. We had to work and see if we couldn’t get it down to single-digits in terms of health, and try to do it in only one or two hits. Anything less would only put us back in this position, anything more might be overkill.

“Databyte, keep power output reduced to five percent!” I ordered, having an idea of how to take down Aero enough to capture, but not so much that it would up and faint on us. “Before this next attack be sure to scan Aero’s status and lower power further if needed.”

Commencing...

“Exit NVE Strategy,” Saundra finally said after moments of thinking about the battle I assumed. “Databyte, keep power output reduced to five percent!” she ordered, ”Before this next attack be sure to scan Aero’s status and lower power further if needed.”
I knew the time of capture was nearly upon us. I watched the Aero regain health, but only to see PorygonZ take it back. The PorygonZ locked onto the Aerodactyl and fired a weak Hyper Beam attack at the Pterodactyl, however, the beams didn’t hit the flying rock beast. Instead, they circled it. The Aerodactyl knew it would have very little energy if it got hit by the attack, but it also knew that it was targeted by lock on and that it would be futile to dodge the attack so it kept restoring as much energy as it could.

The PorygonZ’s eyes stopped glowing and the beams detonated, doing some damage to the Aerodactyl. I saw that the Porygon couldn’t move, which was normal after using Hyper Beam. The Aero noticed this too and tried to attack, but it was too tired to move, and on top of that, it looked like the paralysis kicked in. I noticed that the area appeared to go back to normal which meant the Trick Room had ended.

It was coming to a close. I could tell Aero was on his last leg, even though Databyte’s Hyper Beam hadn’t been meant to cause the damage it did. Maybe I had underestimated how much strength Aero had left, or maybe a computational error on Databyte’s part caused one of the beams to explode too close to Aero. Whatever had happened, the stone-pteradon didn’t have nearly as much HP left as I’d thought it would, so there really wasn’t much else to be done. It was probably about as weak as it was going to get without being knocked out.

All the same, I knew that a creature usually showed its truest strength when it was backed into a corner, and the same was probably true for Aero. Right now, when one would expect it to be at its easiest to catch, it would most likely prove to be extremely hard to capture. I needed to try and draw out its last reserves of strength before wasting time trying to catch it. I needed to do this without causing any further damage to the Pokemon’s flagging HP, though. No more damage-dealing attacks from now on, then. I had to rely on more evasive tactics to wear Aero down rest of the way.

“Databyte, come here for a moment,” I called, and the manmade Pokemon floated over to hover near my head. “Listen, I want you to do a bit of complicated, computing, okay?” Dayabyte beeped once in response, understanding my words. “Complicated computing” meant a combo made up of four or more moves, and after a moment Databyte gave another beep, signaling it was ready for its orders. It had diverted a large chunk of its data processing abilities to memorizing whatever it was about to be told, ensuring maximum efficiency when it went to carry out its attacks.

“All right, here’s the deal,” I continued, pitching my voice low so Aero wouldn’t hear me words. If he did, that would ruin the whole ploy. “We need to finish wearing Aero out, but without causing any more damage. So here’s the plan. I want you to use Agility again, as fast as you can make it. You don’t know Double Team, so if you can create afterimages with Agility that’ll work just as well. Then use Sharpen to make yourself look more intimidating. If it looks like Aero might injure himself by attacking you, it’ll hopefully prevent him from doing anything that might hurt him, like Double-Edge. Then use Lock-On; with any luck, Aero will spend time and energy trying to avoid it. Finally, use Psychic, but not to attack! I want you to fool Aero into thinking you’re using some massive attack on it, like a super-charged Zap Cannon. You can create a bit of harmless static electricity and use Psychic to make it look more stronger and more dangerous than it is. Just don’t hit Aero with anything; let it stay ahead of the “attack” so it wears itself out, okay? Try to keep your Agility up the whole time if you can. If not, try to at least hold it until after you’ve started the illusion of attacking.”

Databyte was silent as it processed all this, then it nodded its head once. I smiled and flashed a thumbs-up at my Pokemon, then waved in a shooing gesture. Databyte turned and floated several feet away, then suddenly blinked from view. It appeared a few times but vanished almost immediately afterward, sometimes seeming to disappear before fully coming into focus. Then, after less than two seconds, several Porygon-Z phased into view, each of them moving in different directions for several seconds before fading away, only to be replaced by more ghostly images.

At the same time, Databyte emitted red beams from its eyes again. These seemed to flicker in and out of sight along with Databyte and his speed-induced clones, but every time they came back into view, the red beams unfailingly remained fixed on Aero. Eventually the beams reduced to pinpoints of red light that jumped and darted around Aero’s body, attempting to disorient it and make it try to flee in all directions at once.

Then I noticed the twenty or so Pory-Z began to take on a more angular appearance. All the smooth lines were becoming sharp and pointed, giving the Pokemon a blocky, ungainly look. Their horns became long, tapering weapons that looked capable of punching through solid steel, and their arms took on the appearance of baby-blue swords. Their tails, too, looked more like deadly blades than limbs. In order to achieve this effect, Databyte had compressed data from its body, reducing its mass along the edges of its body and making them sharp. I had one time attempted to hug the Pokemon while in its Sharpened state, only to get nasty cuts on both arms that had required stitches to close, so I knew from personal experience that this wasn’t just an illusion of sharpness.

Finally, Databyte moved on to the final stage of its combo. It whirled its arms as it spun and darted around Aero, constantly coming in and out of sight as its copies did the same. A weak spark formed in the spaces between Databyte’s arms and body, and a brief flash of lavender light in the eyes of all the Pory-Z signaled the beginning of a Psychic. Instead of using it to attack with directly, Databyte instead used the Psychic influence it was radiating to create an illusion. Using Psychic, it caught the sparks it had generated and caused them to grow to gargantuan levels. In just the span of a heartbeat, twenty-some orbs of sizzling yellow electricity as big as myself blasted into view. Aero was surrounded by these deadly-looking attacks; Databyte went as far as to arch over Aero and give the illusion of attacking from above as well as from all sides. With a cry sounding like a shrill alarm going off, Databyte “fired” its attack and its clones followed suit, flinging massive yet fake attacks at Aero and, hopefully, driving it into a frenzy to avoid the multiple attacks. As the attacks were loosed, Databyte used its Psychic to ensure there were also gaps for Aero to flee through, but that it wouldn’t actually have a chance to try and escape altogether.

This Pokemon refused to give up, which was what I liked about it. It wanted to continue fighting. He saw that they were planning something, and took this time to heal himself, it had to be thinking more rationally now.

This seemed all to complicated for any Pokemon to handle. Luckily for her, PorygonZ wasn't just any Pokemon. That Pokemon was designed for this kind of stuff. I just watched and waited to see how it was going to react.

The PorygonZ turned towards the Aerodactyl, who had managed to regain some health from the Roost attack. The Aerodactyl was still grounded from Roost and paralysis, so it wasn't going to be moving very fast, unlike the PorygonZ who had begin its complicated task. It began moving around the area it was in at a very fast pace, all I could see was a blue and pinkish blur. The plan so far had been going as planned. The PorygonZ was moving so fast, it looked as if it were creating duplicates of itself. I could tell it was using Sharpen, because it was glowing white, and the two wing-like arms turned into sword-like arms.

The Computer Pokemon then sent off two red laser beams from its eyes and tried to lock on to the Aerodactyl who threw up a small shield as it attepmted to dive out of the way. It knew the affects of being locked on. PorygonZ then began using its Psychic and Discharge combo. It was quickly surrounded by small sparks of electricity. The sparks didn't stay small for long, the Psychic attack allowed the electricity to expand and make it look as if it were growing. I could see the Aerodactyl growing concerned as it desperatly tried to get off the ground. It was using all of its energy to get into the sky and away from this attack.

"Vaporeon!"

My Vaporeon, or Mimi, as I called her, hissed at my Togetic, Momo. Apparently, I was taking Momo on a run instead of Mimi. She was snarling at the prospect of it. After all, most Pokemon love the sight of the Outer Heavens- unless the Pokemon is afraid of heights.

"Mimi, be reasonable. Momo can fly. In that area, almost everything has to be accessed in the air. You can't be selfish." I reminded Mimi. Still, she had a hot temper and her stubbornness was at god-like levels. Momo tried to cheer up Mimi, but the vicious and hasty water Pokemon snapped at Momo, growling harshly. I sighed. My two Pokemon can't get along. Maybe it was better if my friend didn't send the egg to me on Christmas. Momo's fast evolution from Togepi to Togetic made Mimi jealous. She didn't want anyone 'stealing' my attention from her.

"Come on, Momo." I removed the Pokeball from my neck, the Pokeball that was Mimi's. The moment I did she groaned again. I silently attached Momo's Pokeball to the necklace, before summoning Momo inside. The normally Jolly Momo was now a tiny bit sulky, being unable to cheer up Mimi since he has met her.

I stepped out of the ranger post, putting Mimi's Pokeball on the table. "Wait for me to come back, Mimi." I said. My Pokemon's impatience was legendary, and if she run off looking for me it won't be good. I immediately grabbed the Pokeball and summoned Mimi inside, shocking her greatly. I knew sometimes she busted out of the Pokeball, but only at the moment she was summoned in. So, if I surprised her, she couldn't get out.

I proceeded towards the teleporter, radiating a blue, shining light. It worked in a strange way. I simply stepped in, and said my coordinates, and it would send me there. It was a feat in technology I didn't understand, but eh. It worked, so I wasn't afraid of it.

"Over to Outer Heaven." I said, and in a whizz and a whur I ended up in the magnificent Outer Heaven.

I was rushing through Meteor Valley, trying to make it to the Outer Heavens before nine. I had missed the first boat ride here, which meant I had to fly here on Skyfire, which wasn't a problem since I was probably going to be flying the whole time. So far, this morning wasn't going as planned. I could only hope my park run would be much more exciting. Shadow had refused to travel over the ocean with me on Skyfire, so I had to get Mindbender to teleport him over to the park. Mindbender and him should already be there waiting. I suppose I could've done the same thing, but I wanted to get Skyfire a chance to stretch his wings before our park run began.

"Come on back out Skyfire, I need your assistance again." I said, tossing a black and red Pokeball in front of me. I was already more than halfway through Meteor Valley, seeing many Pokemon that interested me, but I couldn't stop to battle them since that was not the area I had signed up for. A large Dragon Pokemon emerged from the ball. Skyfire wasn't like most Salamence, at least not in color. Most of his body was all black, everything except for his blood red wings. Skyfire roared loudly, making sure his presense was known. "Ready for ths boy?" I said, rubbing his head. I knew he was ready to show his power to any Pokemon I encountered on my run. He nodded quickly and lowered his back. I hopped on and he took off.

It took us twenty minutes to get there, mainly because we were enjoying the scene. Once we arrived, I found Mindbender and Shadow waiting for us. Shadow quickly made his way to my side, like he always did.

"So now we wait." I said, happy that I wasn't late. "Just gotta wait for Siless and our Ranger to arrive."

While Databyte was setting up its combo, Aero took the momentarily lull in action to set up another Roost. I couldn't help but smile a bit, impressed with the Pokemon's determination. I didn't know if he was just stubborn and wanted to drive us away or if he was after something else, but at least he wasn't trying to run away as I'd been worried he might.

When Databyte launched the mock Zap Cannons, Aero tried his best to avoid the attacks. Databyte, clever Pokemon it was, made each Zap Cannon just barely miss Aero every time the Pokemon attempted a dodge. The way it did it made it seem as though Aero himself were evading the attacks. So far my plan was working well, but now that Aero had a bit more energy back, it was going to take more than this ruse to wear him back down.

"Databyte, great job!" I praised, making sure the manmade Pokemon knew how happy with its performance I was. "Now let the Zap Cannon go, then try for a Cold Snap! If it works we'll be able to wear Aero down a bit more before catching it." Instantly the faux Zap Cannons fizzled out of existence, though one directly in front of Aero appeared to explode. It wouldn't do any damage since it was just an illusion, a ruse to startle Aero and hopefully keep him from acting for a moment.

Databyte now began gathering stray packets of data from its systems coverting them to the Ice type and ejecting them into the air in front of it. This data was a bright crystal-blue in color and quickly formed into a sphere about the size of a honeydew melon. From this central orb, six thin tendrils suddenly whipped out. These lashed out towards Aero, but instead of striking him, they simply arched around him without touching him, three beams on each side. The beams converged behind him, meaning the only way to get out of the cage of sorts was to go over it. Aero was having a hard time getting into the air, though, so I doubted he would be getting free just yet, unless it tried to simply run through the ice.

Once Aero was "caught" so to speak, Databyte pumped more data into the ice ball, dumping a massive amount from its main processors. This would temporarily limit its strength, which actually worked to my advantage. After all, Ice moves would be extra-powerful against Aero, thanks to its half-Flying type. On top of Databyte's earlier Nasty Plot, the modified Ice Beam would easily KO Aero if things went wrong. As it was, since Databyte had, for the time being, sacrificed much of its processing capabilities, the reduction of its strength was a good thing.

With its processing abilities slashed, Databyte's increased Speed also dropped. Its copies faded as it slowed down, coming to a stop a second later. Now stationary and with a giant sphere of ice the size of a large watermelon between its arms, Databyte sent most of the ice down the six thin vines of it around Aero. The beams abruptly increased in size to nearly three times their original mass. Controlling every aspect of the ice, Databyte now directed the numbing chill from the beams inward, all of it aimed at Aero. The sudden, centralized focus of the cold would, if things went as planned, cause a rapid covering of ice to encase Aero, Freezing it just enough to make it easier to catch without causing any harm.

On top of that, if Aero was Frozen, Databyte would be able to safely whittle down his health without worrying about Aero retaliating in a way that would make him hurt himself. The coating of ice would also absorb some of the damage dealt, adding another literal layer of protection against accidentally knocking the stone pteradon out.

I thought the ship would be a great way to get to the Outer Heavens; it wouldn't take too long since it was only a short distance from the dock, but it would give enough time for Tear to stretch her wings. What I didn't factor in was the playful Wailmer that drenched me with a surprisingly large Water Gun...

As I finished up my failed search for a towel, I saw a figure flying over to the Outer Heavens from the land of Meteor Valley; I figured it could've been either my partner Cameron or my ranger, whom I hadn't met. As I watched the flying figure, I realized how close we were to our destination. Soon, we would been able to dock and our run would begin.

The Wailmer that drenched me came back for more fun, brushing lightly against the boat and beginning to shoot water at the crew. A member of the crew told me they know this Wailmer, and this playing would probably leave us stuck for a while, but that I could leave on one of my Pokémon since we were so close. My first choice would've been to stay and play a bit, but I wasn't sure how much time I had to get to my run. I called Tear down from her warm-up flight, boarded her, thanked the crew of the ship, and set out for the Outer Heavens.

It didn't take too long for me to get there, and, though I had been told about Cameron's Pokémon (and having a couple added to my team, as well), I wasn't fully prepared for what I saw. Cameron was waiting with his Houndoom by his side, but he also had a Gardevoir and a Salamence out; what surprised me was that these two Pokémon seemed to share the Houndoom's dark coloring. I had been aware that Pokémon could have alternate colorings, but this was one of the first times I saw them..

As I landed, I let my own Gardevoir, Sela, out of her ball for some fresh air. I approached Cameron, introduced him to my two Pokémon (for the first time outside the battlefield), and joined him in waiting for our ranger.

"This is my first adventure in a while. Recently, I've been training near home, so this should mix it up nicely." I wasn't aware of how long it would be until the run started... couldn't hurt to strike up a conversation, could it?

I noticed a red-and-black Salamence approaching from a distance, with a man humped on its back. Two Pokemon, a Houndoom and a Gardevoir- all the same color scheme- ran out from behind the Ranger Post where I couldn't see them, surprising me. Before he arrived, however, I also saw a dot approaching. As soon as the Salamence landed, I could see that the 'dot' was in fact a trainer riding on a Dragonite. Within a few minutes the large, orange Pokemon landed near us.

"Hello. You are... Cameron, right? And you are Siless? My name is Timpeni, I'm your trainer today." I asked. At the sight of all the new Pokemon, Momo forced himself out of the ball. The large size of most of the new Pokemon did not bother him; somehow he knew these Pokemon won't hurt him. From its body came small, sparkling feathers. I recognized these as 'Joy dust', which Momo shed in front of kindhearted people and Pokemon. It had some sort of happiness effect on the livings things around it.

"Congrats! Looks like Momo- this Togetic- thinks you and your Pokemon are kindhearted." I said to the duo. I looked at the watch on my wrist and jumped. We needed to get in fast- if not, we might collide into the visitor train coming in, and the visitor train's driver was known for his haphazardness. It's a wonder why he hasn't gotten fired yet...

"Okay, let's go in. We have got to, or else we risk colliding with a visitor train. Come on." I said, and the duo followed me as we entered a large, looming gate, plants of all kinds behind it.

The gate had some sort of protecting force around it; it didn't let any poached Pokemon, not approved by a Ranger to fly out. As soon as we stepped through the gate, we felt a shiver as a strange, cold 'zap' sensation went through us. We were now in the Pokemon's land. Anything could happen here.

Suddenly, I heard a 'Chatot' sound and discovered that in front of Cameron was a Chatot, blocking his path, like it was looking for a Pokemon battle. Then, a flutter of wings disturbed me, and a Swellow stood high above, looking down at Siless cautiously.

"Would you like to battle these Pokemon?" I asked Cameron and Siless.

"Hello. You are... Cameron, right? And you are Siless? My name is Timpeni, I'm your trainer today." She said. I assumed she meant Ranger, but I didn't say anything.

"That's right, I'm Cameron." I said, calling Mindbender back to her Pokeball. Then, one of the Rangers Pokemon

"Okay, let's go in. We have got to, or else we risk colliding with a visitor train. Come on." She said, as she began moving to two large gates. I quickly followed her, trying to mask my eagerness.

It wasn't long before two Pokemon had found us. A small Chatot and Swellow stood in front of us. I pulled out one of my Pokeballs, ready to battle them if Siless wanted to, I however wasn't interested in them.

After introductions were out of the way, we started our run. The protective gate sent a slight jolt through me, though it was so small I may not have been aware of it had I not been warned. The air past the gate felt safer, though.

"Chatot!" We quickly found the first Pokémon in our run, though it was unusual to find a single Pokémon approach a larger group like this. When I heard the flapping of wings, I realized that it had support from the sky; I looked up to find a Swellow staring at me.

"I'd rather not have this battle.." I took a look to Cameron; he seemed ready, but looked hesitant as well. I figured he probably didn't want any of these at the moment, and unnecessary battles would wear down both of our Pokémon before we found anything we really wanted. "Maybe they'll just let us pass.. If they won't let us by, Sela can usually persuade them not to attack.

And if not... I guess we're ready for them?"

"I'd rather not have this battle.." Siless said. I looked at Cameron, who seemed hesitant to battle. I squatted down to the Chatot and talked to it.

"Sorry Hirmi, you can't get captured or battle today. Maybe you can try next time?" I said to the Chatot. The Chatot always appeared when I led visitors and trainers through Outer Heaven. The Chatot nodded before flying off. The Swellow simply watched cautiously as we walked away, before averting back to its usual business.

For sometime, nothing interesting happened. I heard many sounds but all the Pokemon were hidden away. Momo seemed to be talking to trees, but I knew he was talking to hidden Pokemon. Then, suddenly, Momo looked to the skies, before yelling out. I was shocked by Momo's sudden action, but then, a metallic flash appeared before a Pokemon dove headfirst into the ground in front of Cameron, only to get its beak stuck in the ground. I looked at the too-excited Skamory and the shocked look on Cameron's face.

I looked up and seemed to see a cloud descending, but on closer inspection I saw it was a Swablu. It went up to the Skamory and tried to pull it out of the ground. I joined in, as well as Momo, and soon, Skamory was forced out, with the back force making me fall to the ground. Skamory snapped out of its shocked state and looked at Cameron, awaiting a battle. The Swablu sighed, before going up to Siless for a battle too.

"You two want to battle these Pokemon?" I said.

I looked over the pair of Pokémon staring us down; after the rather humorous introduction, they seem to have gotten more serious. Both seemed eager for battle, and I'd be perfectly willing to have both; of course, I'd need to let Cameron have his choice too.

"Alright, pick whichever one you want, Cameron, but I'd like to battle." I honestly didn't care which one he picked, as both were equally appealing to me. They'd already seemed to have chosen their opponents, but we could force them to mix it up during the battle, if necessary.

I motioned for Sela to take the field; the Gardevoir was easily my key Pokémon in battles, even more so when I couldn't wait and fully heal up my Pokémon between battles, thanks to her Wishes. She focused on her opponents as she stepped forward; she takes an ability from her opponent during battles, but if there's more than one, she can't pick which one she takes it from, and I usually can't tell which one she takes until a round of moves occur.

"Sela, set up a Reflect and Taunt whatever foe Cameron doesn't go after." The Taunt would hopefully draw the attacks of whatever Pokémon that Cameron's wasn't dealing with, keeping them from double teaming it, but also would keep the target from using its status moves; Skarmory was known for its Agility, while Swablu had a voice that could put a target to sleep or knock it out entirely. Reflect should reduce the damage from most of their attacks, and Sela wouldn't be restricted in her choices while behind it; even though she'd lose its benefit if she moved out from behind it, she could attack easily without having to move, and so would only have to move to evade blows.

I brushed the strategy from my mind; it was a simple startup to allow Cameron to control his side of the battle as he wanted, so I could just set up my side and not worry about it when things had to change. I turned to my partner trainer. "Time to have some fun?"

Finally something interesyting showed up. Two of the three Pokemon I had come here for, were right here in front of me. Swablu, Skarmory, and Drifloon were he ones I wanted, and now I was lucky enough to have a Skarmory show up and battle me. Swablu was also here, but I knew I wanted Skarmory first, since it was already willing to battle us, the choice was just that much easier.

"Alright, pick whichever one you want, Cameron, but I'd like to battle." Siless said clearly. He tossed out a Pokeball, sending out an elegant Gardevoir named Sela. "Sela, set up a Reflect and Taunt whatever foe Cameron doesn't go after." I looked at him, then turned my attention to Skarmory. I had already chosen it. I brought out a red and black Pokeball and tossed it besides me. A quick white light flashed and a black and red spiked dog stood next to me. Hotshot and Shadow were similar in body form.

"Hotshot, let's slow them both with Thunder Wave." I called out. I didn't want to full out attact the Skarmory yet, not without seeing how it worked. Hot shot began forming a small blue and yellow electrical ball. When it was big enough, he launched it at Skarmory, rapidly forming and sending one at the Swablu. Hotshot was pretty fast, so if I wanted to use a physical attack, it was going to have to be fast while he was in range. I was going to try a long ranged special attack next.

Both trainers agreed to fight the Swablu and Skamory. Siless released her Gardevoir, named Sela, to fight against whatever Pokemon Cameron didn't choose to fight. She yelled a command somewhere along the lines of reflect. Something shined like a mirror in front of the Gardevoir and it disappeared immediately, to avoid the Swablu from realizing it was there.

Cameron called out a red-and-black Manectric he called Hotshot. I shuddered when I remembered the time a Manectric almost tore me to pieces when I was guiding a trainer through the Abandoned Power Plant. I had some sort of thing against electric Pokemon, so it'll be a long time before I add one to my team.

A ball of electricity raced from the mouth of Hotshot and went up Skamory's body, who was currently too busy scanning Hotshot's body for weak spots to notice it. The metallic nature of Skamory's body contributed to the attack, and it so read quickly, shocking Skamory. Bits of white-hot electricity jumped from its now stiff body, and its muscles locked up. When the Skamory tried to move, it simply leaned to one side and fell over, causing something like a concussion.

Over at Siless, Sela was taunting the Swablu with words I didn't understand, but Swablu- and by the looks of it, Momo too- took severe offense to it. The Swablu was blinded by its anger, and now confused by itself. A red miasma formed around its vision as it prepared for its signature move, and I noticed it also seemed to be flying off balance. It went right behind a tree and readied itself.

Swablu was not a normal Flying-Pokemon. It knew moves no Pokemon here has seen or even knew about. The blue bird Pokemon looked cute with its tiny blue body and cloud-like wings, but this one was a cute little bird that bites. The Swablu flapped its wing extra-hard, and a strong, small tornado formed. The leaves of the tree were pulled off, though the twister was not strong enough to pull up the tree bark itself. It then flew over close to the leaves and exhaled extremely heated breathe on it, and after a small spark, the leaf caught fire.

Soon, the leaf set fire to all the leaves around it, and the fire twister was formed. Not even the wind speed could stop the fire now that it has reached this height. However, the Swablu, with its limited vision and blurred thinking, did not aim correctly as Sela. Instead, the twister turned right unexpectedly and sucked up Hotshot. The electric Pokemon was roughed up quite badly, and then the twister ended, the fire disappeared and ashes fell on the floor along with the Manectric.
