"A towering, active volcano that sports many cave systems. The volcano is a dark red-brown color and has a wide trail that spirals up it. The area around the volcano is bare of plant life and covered with gray boulders and rocks. The air is usually full of dark gray ash once you get about halfway up. Ranger Outpost Number Four is located here."

“Look at him,” Ivy said, motioning towards the long counter on the other side of the room from the workstation. Buzzer, one of her Ranger coworkers was currently suavely leaning against the structure in an attempt to flirt with one of the newer, attractive secretaries named Madison. It seemed all the guys in the office were in this competition with each other, though the three main players were Buzzer, Chainy, and Leo.

She scoffed again, swiveling slightly in the rolling chair at Buzzer's desk. Her feet were planted on the corner of it, letting her stretch out and relax as she watched. She idly thumbed the two inch thick stack of undone paperwork on his desk. River Tam, Buzzer's Xatu, rolled her eyes along with the female Ranger.

“Sad, I know,” Ivy said, smiling as a two-tailed purple monkey came up to the side of her chair. “Hey, Ambi, want to have some fun?” The Ambipom nodded enthusiastically in response. “River here needs help getting Buzz to do his work. So here's what I want you to do.”

She leaned over to whisper to him as a smile grew on his face. He dashed off, and Ivy just sat back to watch the show. That would teach him to dump his paperwork on her.

Buzz was pretty unaware about anything other than the pretty blonde in front of him. It was pretty easy then for Ambipom to dash up, quickly use the man as a ladder, and pluck the beanie hat off his head. The Ranger's messy blondish hair was revealed, and he brought his hand to his head as he whirled around. Ambi was too quick though, and he was already back over by Ivy by the time Buzz realized what happened.

The hat dropped into Ivy's lap as the duo just grinned. Buzz stomped up, an annoyed look on his face. He held out his hand, expecting her to just give the hat back. Ivy simply smiled. He really did get worked up a bit about the hat. “Don't you have work to do?”

“Give me that.”

“But you see,” she began, holding the hat out but then pulling it back quickly before he could grab it, causing him to jostle the desk, “River wanted it.” She handed it to the Psychic bird, and Buzz seemed to pale a little. “She's really worried about all this undone work, you know?” She tapped the thick stack of papers and grinned fiercely. “Better get on that.”

Buzz groaned, and that turned his face into a semi-scowl as someone came up behind him and ruffled his hair, slinging an arm around his shoulder. Leo, the red head, decided to grace them with his presence.

“Yeah, better get on that, Buzz. Don't worry, I'll keep Madison company.” He saluted her, and she just shook her head. He pushed Buzz to the side a little, causing the blond man to stumble. “By the way, this just came in for you.” He handed her a manila folder, presumably with someones Park run details in it. “I owe you one, Ivy.”

“Yeah, yeah,” she called as Leo went to take his turn at the counter. Sometimes it was just too easy. Turning back towards Buzz she said, “Leo's winning.”

He huffed. “Well, if some people didn't interrupt-” He cut himself off, swinging his head towards his Xatu. She must've cut into this thoughts with some smart alec comment.

She swung her feet off his desk and got up, hitting him over the head with the folder as she passed him. “Well have fun, I've got work to do.”

She headed back to her office to grab her supplies as she glanced at the folder. It looked like she was taking an Axel Grey to Mount Deckbi this afternoon. Hopefully it would go well. There had been some reports of random fires in patches and leaking lava. They would have to be careful.

After grabbing her stuff, she opted to take the teleporter from Outpost to Outpost. Since Haxbat was in his Pokéball already, she wouldn't have to go collect him. He was resting anyway. Ambipom was hanging out today, and she was sure his jolliness would brighten the run up a little.

The made it to the Deckbi Outpost and waited outside for their Trainer. It looked like it was going to be a nice day.

OOC: Got an hour before I have to leave again so might as well post lol.

IC: "I wonder if we will get in trouble for being here." I said to Shadow as we ran through the Woods area of the National Park. Shadow just grinned and continued running. I knew that grin meant 'only if we get caught'. We had come to the island early and undetected so we could look around the island without "parental supervision" before our actual expedition began. It was more of a rush this way. We had almost been caught back at the gardens by one of the Elite Rangers with a Gallede. We had spent the entire morning at the gardens looking for a Tauros to catch, but we didn't have any luck.

"I guess we should head over to the main office so we can start this. I want to get out before night so we can head over to Meteor Valley, I heard that place is fun at night." About fifteen minutes later we made it out of the woods and were at the main building. I walk in and saw a red headed Ranger putting his moves on a beautiful blonde lady behind the desk. I was about to go up to him, but I figured he'd be too annoyed if I bothered him. Instead, I saw another ranger with a Xatu eyeing the red headed ranger angrily. I guessed he was trying to hook up with the desk lady as well, didn't look like it was going to well for him.

"Excuse me, do you know where Ranger Ivy is?" I asked. He glared at me for several moments before replying.

"She's already at Deckbi waiting for you." He said, moving his eyes back to the redhead and the blonde.

"Uhh, thanks." I said, walking out of the building. "I would hate to be a lady and work here." I said grinning to Shadow. He nodded. I pulled out a dark green and black Pokeball and tossed it in front of me. A dark green, red, and black Psychic Pokemon emerged from the ball.

"I wasn't expecting to be out this early." She said telepathically. I just shrugged.

"Well, I need you to teleport us to Deckbi. You can stay out and I'll use you in battle first." She nodded and began chanting rhythmically. Within seconds the whole area lit up and I could feel myself being transported. It felt like I was floating, being pushed by a soft wind. Before I knew it I was standing in front of the entrance of Mt. Deckbi. I could tell because it was insanely hot. I looked around and saw my ranger standing by the Outpost sign.

"Hey!" I called out over to her. She ran over towards me. "I'm Axel, and this is Shadow. The main reason we're here is for a Rhyhorn, Torkoal, Vulpix, or Cubone..., but mainly Rhyhorn. And I got this disc as well." I said pretty fast, I tried not to sound to excited, but I always enjoyed getting knew Pokemon. I pulled out my Pokeplayer and put in my first Rhyhorn Voice Disc, my finger shakily hanging over the play button. "Just let me know when I can play this." I said, accidently pushing the play button. A loud roar came from the player. "Oops, didn't mean to click that."

There was a pulling of psychic energy that made Ivy look around, and then two forms emerged a little way from the Outpost. One was a Pokémon, a human-shape form with a white flowing dress and green hair. The Gardevoir stood next to her trainer, an average sized guy wearing a solid gray shirt with long black shorts. He had a jacket and a hat to match the shirt, and black hair stuck out on the sides of the cap. The bandanna around his neck made him seem rouge-like, and she wondered if he was the type that got up to no good.

“Hey!” he called as soon as he saw her, and she and Ambipom headed over.

He started talking right away and a little fast. He introduced himself and his partner Houndoom, Shadow, and then mentioned some Pokémon he'd like to encounter. He didn't stop to take a breath at all, and Ivy wondered if he was a little nervous or perhaps excited. Before she had got into that confident mode from her job, she had been been like that too.

He said he had brought disks for a Rhyhorn, and he pulled out a Poképlayer to show her. “Just let me know when I can play this,” he said. His fingers were shaking a little though, and he pushed the play button before she could say anything. A loud roar filled the area, making her flinch since she was so close to the source. “Oops, didn't mean to click that.”

She just smiled at him. “That's alright. You can play it at any time. I'm Ivy by the way. It's nice to meet you,” she said, offering her hand for a shake. She was fairly sure he knew who she was already, but it was polite. She tried to be polite to Trainers at least at the start of the run. Mostly. “I hope we see some good Pokémon on this trip, since you have a list going and all.”

She motioned with her head to get him to follow her, and they reached the gate. She fiddled in her vest pocket for an old fashioned key for a moment before unlocking the door and holding it open for him to pass through. She made sure to shut it tightly behind them. That other time some wild Pokémon had gotten into the Outpost hadn't been fun.

They had almost reached the point where the path split into two ways: either into the mountain or up the side, but a rumbling noise from underfoot made her stop. Then, dirt popped up into the air about two feet in front of her, revealing a small mole-like Pokémon with a large pink nose. It watched them warily, and Ivy turned back towards the Trainer.

“It never fails for Diglett to be one of the first Pokémon I see whenever I come here. Any interest in this one?”

My disc played out, but no Rhyhorn appeared. Instead a Diglett dug its way towards us. “It never fails for Diglett to be one of the first Pokémon I see whenever I come here. Any interest in this one?” My ranger said.

"Na, not interested in battling or capturing this." I said, tossing a Pokedoll at it. "Might as well let this disc keep playing, I have to find a Rhyhorn here."

There was no Rhyhorn from the first play of the disk. The Trainer seemed a little in a rush as he said, “Na, not interested in battling or capturing this.” Ivy hoped he wasn't too disappointed. She liked when Pokémon popped up that were what the Trainers were looking for. They made all the effort of coming out to the Park; she thought they should get something out of it.

They tried to get around the Diglett, but it kept burying it self underground and popping up in front of them. The Trainer eventually pulled out a Pokédoll before Ivy could ask if he wanted to use one. It seemed that he game well prepared.

The mole-like Pokémon took immediate interest in the doll, ignoring the people. They continued on, following the path along one of the mountain faces that was sticking out. Suddenly, there was a thud, followed by another and then a third. Then, a blueish rock fell out of the sky, creating a dent in the ground before them as it impacted.

The rock moved a little, and then turned itself. It had a pink nose-like appendage that, when she checked the compass around her neck, shifted to point north. She recognized the Pokémon as a Nosepass.

“Any interest in one of these guys?” She tried to sound uplifting. She didn't want him to be disappointed. It was her job to make sure he had a good time. She hoped a Rhyhorn heard the calls from the voice disk soon.

The Diglett took the bait and left us alone. A few minutes after walking away from the Diglett, a large blue rock fell out of the sky and slammed into the ground. Where it came from, I had no idea, but I didn't want to battle it. “Any interest in one of these guys?” Ivy asked. I looked at it for a while. This Pokemon's extremely large nose interested me. I wanted to capture it, but it was not what I had come here for. I sighed and shook my head at my ranger.

"Na, not really interested." I said, sounding a little bit disappointed. I continued to let my voice disc play while I took out another Pokedoll and tossed it at the Nosepass. "Maybe next time." I said to the blue rock. It didn't look like it wanted to come with me anyways. "Shall we continue?" I asked, turning up the volume to my voice disc.

Axel look a little longer to make a decision about the Nosepass. He looked at it for a few minutes, seeming to debate with himself. In the end, he said, “Na, not really interested.” He did sound a little disappointed, so Ivy felt a little bad. He turned the volume up on his voice player, and the Ranger hoped it worked soon.

The Nosepass let them walk by it. It didn't really seem interested in much of anything, which was probably good. They continued on until Ivy felt a shaking in the ground and the rock face on their right side.

Then, about twenty feet in front of them, the wall broke open with a loud boom, sending a mushrooming dust cloud onto the path as rocks rolled away from the blast. A massive roar followed, and then a dark blue form emerged from the dust. The dragon had sharp teeth and a red and yellow underbelly, with fins along its arms, tail, and back.

The Nosepass thankfully left us alone. We continued walking until we came across a Garchomp. These Pokemon were extremely powerful. It was my fourth Pokemon I had captured back when I started my journey and was still a powerhouse to my team, in fact I had brought him along with me to this very park on my first run. This one, unlike the Nosepass, looked like it wanted to battle. I didn't want to challenge it or capture it. Battling it would be interesting, but would also be pointless since it was not what I had come here for. I was not sure if this Garchomp liked dolls or not, but I didn't want to risk it. Instead I pulled out my camera and snapped a quick shot of it. While I waited for the picture to develop, I replayed my voice disc again. I hoped I would get lucky soon, Rhyhorn wasn't the only Pokemon I had come here for.

“What about this one?” Ivy repeated. I wasn't sure how long she'd been asking me since I was zoned out in thought. I just shook my head and looked at the picture, it was starting to develop. "You know of any places around here where a Rhyhorn might be? Perhaps up that volcano, or at a field?" I asked, looking up at the volcano, wondering when the last time it erupted was and what would happen if someone were to have a battle up their and set if off. "Also, is that a dormant volcano? Or is it still active?"

Axel was lost in thought for a few minutes, but eventually he shook his head, pulling up his camera for a picture. The Garchomp was still framed by some swirling dust, so Ivy had a feeling the image would turn out great. There were some people back at the Main Outpost that paid for great pictures. The flash bothered the dragon a bit, so it left after a few moments, heading back into the rocks where it had dug from.

“You know of any places around here where a Rhyhorn might be?” he asked.

Ivy nodded. “They usually hang around the rough grasses. We should be coming up to some soon. Though a lot of Pokémon haven't been where they usually are lately. It might have to do with increased activity in the Volcano. I wouldn't be surprised if we found some Pokémon in strange places.”

“Is that a dormant volcano? Or is it still active?”

“Well, it's technically active, though it tends to be pretty quiet. Recently though there's been interesting readings on the scanners back at the Outpost. It's still not dangerous enough to avoid, so we should be fine.” She had wondered about the cause of the unsettling of the place herself but hadn't had time to come check it out. Maybe she and her Trainer would discover the reason.

They continued up the path, and the area shifted to the longer, rough grass she knew Rhyhorn usually occupied. It was mostly quiet, but a shifting sound made her stop and check the grass.

A burrow hidden partially behind a rock shot dirt into the air as a Pokémon popped out of it. A smaller sand mouse appeared, looking at them curiously. It had a creamy underbelly and tough yellow plated skin.

“Shoot, still no Rhyhorn. What about a Sandshrew?”

"Hmm, good to know then." I said. "Maybe we can go up there." I wondered what would happen if I went up on that volcano and used a powerful Ground type move, like Earthquake. That would probably be enough to erupt that volcano. I wondered if that was even possible. Part of me wanted to try it, but I knew the consequences would be too great. The wild Pokemon in this area could lose their homes so I put that thought in the back of my head. I was lost in though, unaware that the Garchomp had left and a Sandshrew had appeared. The small little brown Shrew Pokemon looked adorable, twitching its ears as it stared at us with those small black eyes it had. I had seen many of these Pokemon before, but never made the effort to capture one, and I had no plans on doing that now. I did have plans to catch one in the future however, just not right now.

“Shoot, still no Rhyhorn. What about a Sandshrew?” Ivy asked.

"Nope, I'll pass." I sighed, tossing a Pokedoll at Sandshrew. I didn't give up hope, I knew Rhyhorn would show up eventually... it had to. I just let the Rhyhorn disc continue to play. I wanted to try out my Torkoal disc, but I wasn't as interested in it as I was with Rhyhorn. I wasn't going to leave this park until I found that Rhyhorn and got what I came here for.

“Hmm, good to know then,” he said. “Maybe we can go up there.” She nodded, and then he had a thoughtful look, possibly thinking about the volcano. She had a bad feeling for a moment but let it pass. It was doubtful he was trying to cause trouble, though there was a leaf in his air and he sort of smelled like some of the berry trees near where the Tauros roamed in the Woods...

She shook her head, not wanting to borrow trouble. It was probably fine.

Axel thought a little bit about the Sandshrew as well, though in the end he just sighed again. “Nope, I'll pass.” He took out another doll, watching as the Sandshrew snuck up and latched onto it, dragging it back towards its burrow.

She really did feel bad. She just didn't understand where all the Rhyhorn were. The disk should be working by now, and they were in the right area. She hoped it didn't have anything to do with the volcano activity...

A rock exploded in front of them, and Ivy covered her face with her arm as they were showered with dust and rock pieces. A trumpeting roar sounded, shaking the ground and causing the Ranger to stagger. Dust cleared to reveal a giant armored lizard busy crushing the rocks around him in a wide cut out on the side of the mountain. It had a drill like nose and rock plating all over its body. She recognized it as a Rhyperior.

While it wasn't exactly what Axel had come for, it was a little closer at least. Still didn't really make her feel any better, and they would have to be really careful around it. There was also the issue if he was a collector or not. Most collectors liked to evolve their Pokémon from their most basic forms so they could document all stages of the species.

Without warning, a rock that was in front of us exploded. My natural reaction was to throw my hands in front of my face. God thing I did, because those small chips of rock could have done some damage. Instead, they just left small cuts on both my arms

"Not a chance, I can take this guy, but I don't want my Pokemon getting all worked up just yet. Besides, I need Rhyhorn. As you've probably guessed, I'm a collector. I like catching Pokemon in the basics form and raising them myself. Helps me learn more about them as they grow stronger and evolve." I explained, whipping how my handy dandy camera and snapping a photo of it. "I'll just leave this guy alone, he looks busy anyways." I placed a doll behind him just in case he turned around and saw us. I heard my voice disc turn off and noticed that the disc was all used up. I pulled out another one and popped it in, playing it once more. I was determined to find that Rhyhorn, however, this was not a Rhyhorn voice disc, it was a Torkoal voice disc. I wanted to capture a Torkoal so that I could use my Fire repellant. I hoped I had better luck with the Torkoal voice disc than I was having with the Rhyhorn voice disc.

Axel snapped another picture, getting the shot of the Rhyperior in demolition mode. It would make a great image. The large lizard was too occupied to take notice of them, and they got around the Pokémon without a problem.

The Trainer confirmed he was indeed a collector, so a fully evolved Pokémon wasn't going to help him out. The Rhyhorn voice disk also came to the end of its track and clicked off. Axel took it out and reached for another one, pressing play. The cry of a Torkoal sounded. The Ranger hoped this disk would work better.

The continued on the path wrapping around the mountain. They soon came to another indent into the cliff side, littered with rocks everywhere. A somewhat large one was close to the path as they walked by, and then it suddenly moved, causing both people to jump. Arms shuffled and eyes appeared, and Ivy saw that the large rock was really a Graveller.

Again, she doubted an already once evolved Pokémon was any interest to him. “Well, it's my job to ask, since it's here. What about a Graveller?”

As we went up the mountain, we came across another pile of rocks. I could feel my heart pounding as I quickly scanned the area for a Rhyhorn or Torkoal, but no such luck. Instead, a Graveler jumped up from the ground it was embedded in and nearly scared the crap out of me. “Well, it's my job to ask, since it's here. What about a Graveller?” She asked.

"Still not interested." I said, throwing the doll in the Gravelers face. It wasn't intentional, I didn't look when I threw it. "I suppose I'll try the voice disc one last time and then I'll use my repellant. I have to get this Rhyhorn, anything else is just a bonus." I got to find this Rhyhorn, but I want Torkoal before that happens. I wanted to capture my Pokemon already and be done with this park expedition, I still had to sneak away and go to Meteor Valley when nightfall came.
