Thread: Main RP: The Great Lakes

"Raiguy, what's with you!?" Daniel exclaimed, "We've never had this problem before. Is there something I'm doing wrong? I guess if you don't think you can win, then by all means, give up, but we've wiped the floor with opponents three times as strong. What will the other Pokemon say when I tell them you got your butt kicked by a snail?"

Raiguy rolled his eyes, but couldn't shake the feeling of guilt. They had been through a lot together, and although he didn't like to admit it, his trainer was right. Swallowing his pride, he ran up to the Omanyte and preformed a slam attack with his tail under Omanyte's tenticles in an attempt to knock it down. Raiguy used all of his might to thrust his tail upwards with the sea snail still on it. In the air, Raiguy would have a few precious moments to attack freely and aggresively without much risk. He turned his head to his trainer, nodded and smiled, and Daniel then nodded and smiled back.

"Raiguy, hit him with everything we got!" Daniel screamed. Raiguy jumped in the air and used a powerful kick off the roof of the cave to launch himself at Omanyte. Then, he fired a thundershock attack at full force. As a finishing move, he used Quick Attack while doing a somersault, and then went into a full-body Slam, screaming at the top of his lungs. "Wow...I hope we don't scare it away!" Daniel said.

Omanyte's eyes began to glow te again, indicating it may be preparing another attack. It speads its blue tentecles to the side, and got into what seemed to be a battle position. Its whole body began to glow light blue as it looked art the ground below RaiGuy. Although, it stopped in its tracks as electric sparks flickerd all over Omanytes body. Its paralyzation must had taken effect. It crouched down on the ground, in some pain due to its status.

RaiGuy smiled sadisticly at the now exposed pokemon. It bent its large yellow body down, preparing for its move. It jolted its round body forward and began to run at full speed toward Omanyte. It dropped to the ground, and styarted to slide at fast speeds toward Omanyte.

When Raichu made contact with the round grey and blue pokemon, Omanyte flew into the air, its tentecles flailing in all directions. Its body soon became level with Raichus face, and the yellow pokemon gave off mone last smile. It closed its eyes tight.

"RAAAAIIII....CHUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!" Screamed Raiguy.

A large bolt of electricity came barrling out of Raiguy's face on a collision course with Omanyte. The round pokemon was sent flying agaisnt the rocky cave wall with the shear power of the thunderbolt, causing a large crash to come echoing throughout the cave. Raichu had pulled off the move quite nicly, but received some recoil.

"Wow Raiguy, that was brutal...yet effective." Daniel said, "You've been acting kinda strange lately..."

Daniel threw another Park Ball at the now weak Omanyte. "Raiguy, if you need a potion, feel free to ask for one. I really should've brought more Pokemon..."

But Raiguy didn't even pay attension to this. Without a second thought, he jumped up and Slamed the park ball in Omanyte's direction, causing it to triple in speed.

"Alright Raiguy, he's had enough." Daniel said, a little irritated. Raiguy walked slowly back towards Daniel, letting out a sigh of relief. He looked back cautiously at Omanyte, hoping it was down for the capture.

OOC: It's okay, but I'll be at camp from July 1st-28th, and I'd like to get it done before then.

I walked along the edge of a cave system. I was looking for Ranger Senzura. His leave had come up, and I was supposed to take over his run. They said that his run was in the Great Lakes, but I had so far checked the highest parts and the main lakes and I couldn't find him.

As I passed the cave network, I heard the crackling of electricity. I doubted it was anything more than some Chinchou wrestling, but I didn't have anywhere else to look. I entered the cave, and surprisingly, Senzura was right there with a Trainer, who was battling an Omanyte with a Raichu.

I walked quietly up to Senzura and tapped him on the shoulder.

"Report to Outpost One," I said quietly, and he left without a word.

The Trainer had just thrown a Park Ball as Senzura left, and the Omanyte was sucked inside. Just as the ball snapped it up, it was immediately forced open as the Omanyte overpowered the capture mechanism. It then began swimming away from the Raichu, fast - it was trying to run!

I sat in the Great Lakes gate booth, playing my game system while yawning repeatedly. Rumour was that the first Team Run was being tested, and while I hoped that I could take them through, I was realistic enough to know that I had drawn a short straw. The run would most likely go through one of the more popular locations, like the Woods or the Botanical Gardens.

I heard the crunching of boots on the gravel path, and I realised a Trainer was here. Without looking up, I saved my game and opened the gate by blowing into a pipe sticking out of the dashboard. I stored my machine in my bag and put it on, leaving the station.

"Hey there, my name's Chainy," I said without looking up. "I'll be your Ranger toda-"

I cut myself off when I looked up at the Trainer. Or rather, Trainers. Somehow, I had been lucky enough to score the Team Run! Ann even better: one of the Trainers was Cameron!

"He-hey, it's Cameron!" I yelled in delight, running over to shake his hand. "It's been a while, what, a month maybe? You treating that Relicanth well?"

Before he could even answer I turned to the other Trainer. I extended my hand to her.

"My name's Chainy, and I'll be taking you guys through," I said while smiling in a friendly manner.

OOC: Sorry, I just realized myself that I brought the wrong team, that's my Mt. Deckbi team. Oh well, I'll have to make this work somehow.

IC: I was finally going back to the park again. I had decided to go back to the Great Lakes to press my luck with more water Pokemon. I figured that it couldn't hurt to go again. There were a couple of Pokemon that I wanted, like a Clamperl still.

This time however, I wasn't going along. I brought along someone to go with me on this park run, her name was Alaska. I thought that it would be nice to go with someone back into this place. We may have better luck and encounter something extraordinary.

We made our way over to the booth at the Great Lakes. As we approached, a Ranger came out. I smiled when I saw which Ranger it was. It was Ranger Chainy, the one who had taken me through the Great Lakes before and helped me find a Relicanthe. Shadow gave a happy bark as he wagged his tail.

"Hey there, my name's Chainy, I'll be your Ranger toda-" He stopped as he realized I was back again.

"He-hey, it's Cameron!" He said, sounding happy that it was me again. "It's been a while, what, a month maybe? You treating that Relicanth well?" I nodded, but I knew he didn't see.

"My name's Chainy, and I'll be taking you guys through," he said smiling.

OOC: Did I include crazy as one of my personality traits when I signed up? Cause if I didn't, that's one of them.


I felt incredibly excited as I approached the Ranger's Office. Not only was today's trip going to be my first trip in the National Park, it was going to be the first team run ever. As me, my friend Cameron (who I called Bumbles), and our Pokemon got closer to the office, a ranger stepped out.

"Hey there, my name's Chainy, I'll be your Ranger toda-" The ranger stopped as he realized he knew Bumbles. "He-hey, it's Cameron!" He ran up to Bumbles and began to vigorously shaking hands with him. "It's been a while, what, a month maybe? You treating that Relicanth well?"

Without waiting for an answer, he turned to me and extended his hand which I took. "My name's Chainy, and I'll be taking you guys through," he said and smiled widely. Perhaps too widely.

As quietly as I could, I whispered to my Garchomp. "He's a spy."

My Garchomp merely looked at me with a mixture of pity and an almost parental-like tolerance.

"If you don't believe me, shake hands with him. I'm not crazy!" I realized I had yelled the last part. "Erm....Yes. Nice to meet you," I said in a slightly more normal voice.

I shot Cameron a look, but didn't say anything. The Garchomp behind Alaska was wearing a funny expression, but I didn't pick up on it.

"Well, welcome to the Great Lakes," I said, waving my arm to indicate the Great Lakes in all their glory. The early morning sunlight was reflecting off the lakes, flashing into my eyes.

We began walking down the gravel road, and we arrived at the main docks.

"Do you guys want to walk around the edge of the lake, or get a boat across it?" I asked.

"Well, welcome to the Great Lakes," Chainy said, waving his arm. We walked for a while. I saw many water Pokemon that I wanted to catch, but most were pretty fast and got away. Since my park adventure was just beginning, I didn't really mind. I knew I'd have plenty of chances to capture and befriend new Pokemon here.

I looked up and the shining sun. I was kind of glad that it was shining bright in the sky. I had heard on the news last night that there was a high chance of rain here. If it did rain, water Pokemon would probably be easier to find, but just that much harder to catch.

I had brought a Clamperl voice disk, but like last time, I had only brought one. Perhaps this was a mistake and I should've brought more, but I had a feeling one was all I was going to need, or so I hoped. I had a huge list of Pokemon I wanted to catch this time around, so I was hoping this was going to go well.

We had finally arrived at a beautiful lake side. The way the sun was shining down on the lake looked magnificent, I wanted to jump in. The cool morning breeze felt good as it hit my face.

"Do you guys want to walk around the edge of the lake, or get a boat across it?" He asked as we stopped in front of the lake.

Shadow and I had talked about it before coming. He had been learning to swim since we left the Park. At first, it was hard for him to get in, but he got used to it after a while so I knew he'd be somewhat fine with going into the lake with me if I had wanted to go. I knelt down and asked him anyways.

"You wanna go into the lake this time?" I whispered to him. He gave a slight nervous nod. "We don't have to go if you don't want to." He nodded again, looking more confident. "Okay then." I looked over to Alaska. "Where do you want to go?"

"Well, welcome to the Great Lakes," Chainy said as we got our first view of the lakes. The lakes were huge, deep blue pools that stretched off into the horizon. They were amazing to look at and I felt good, knowing that I was seeing a natural wonder and also a bit more certain my ranger was not an asassin sent by the KGB to take down me and my Pokemon.

After a short hike, we found ourselves at the edge of one of the lakes. "Do you guys want to walk around the edge of the lake, or get a boat across it?" Chainy asked. I saw Bumbles kneel down and ask his Houndoom something. Probably if it was willing to get near the water. Bumbles turned to me and asked, "Where do you want to go?"

I shrugged. "I'd like to go in the water. Ryuu here can surf me and Sparks across," I said gesturing to my Luxray. "We can take a boat too. It's just that the sea, she calls to me." For a moment, I stared off into the distance and let my eyes glaze over. When Chainy and Bumbles started looking nervous, I snapped back into reality and asked loudly, "Is it legal to fish using dynamite here?"

OOC: Just gonna get more MRC here. Also, Alaska, you're post is hilarious, love it xD

"I'd like to go in the water." She shrugged and pointed at her Luxray. "Ryuu here can surf me and Sparks across. We can take a boat too. It's just that the sea, she calls to me." She stopped talking and looked into the see. I had no idea what she was talking about, or even what she was staring at. "Is it legal to fish using dynamite here?" I wasn't sure whether I should laugh or not, because she sounded serious. It was kind of weird, but I just assumed she was kidding and shrugged it off. She kind of worried me.

"Looks like we're going in the water buddy if that's cool with you." I said. He barked nervously and nodded. I knew that he wanted to do this because he was trying to get over his fear of being in the water. He had definitely changed since the last time we had came here. On our previous trip, he didn't even want to be near the water, now he was at least getting in.

"Ha, don't worry, I won't let nothing happen to you." I assured as I knelt down and patted him on his head. "Okay, you can surf on Ryuu, we're going to take the boat." I walked over to the boat and got in. Shadow jumped in after me, laying down as low as he could on the boat. I waited for Chainy to get in and for Alaska to get into the water with her Luxray. The water appeared to be pretty calm so the boat ride shouldn't be too bad for Shadow.

"Is it legal to fish using dynamite here?" Alaska asked.

"Well, its not expressly forbidden," I replied, "but probably a bad idea nonetheless. A long time ago sometime tried to fish using a net gun, and he got attacked by three Gyarados. Lost the use of his arms and legs and can't control his bladder."

I let it drop, because Alaska didn't sound serious, more like she was just kidding around, which was fine.

"Looks like we're going in the water, if that's cool with you," Cameron said, trying to change the topic.

I nodded, and I tapped Smash's PokeBall with my finger. He emerged with a flash of red light. Smash was my Swampert, and also the first Pokemon I caught. He ran down to the lake and dived in. I smiled as I remembered that Smash always loved swimming more than anything. The first time he had entered a lake, back in my adventuring days, I had to camp there for four days because he refused to move on.

Alaska climbed onto Ryuu, and I whistled for Smash, who promptly rose from the water. Cameron and Shadow climbed into the boat, which was a new model. It used solar power, and it moved using fins so as not to disturb the local Pokemon. I was pretty sure the design was inspired by Lapras.

We all moved out onto the main lake, where we ran across our first pair of Pokemon. A Luvdisc and a Finneon were playing just under the water, swimming quickly around and pushing each other with small invisible jets of water.

"Well, its not expressly forbidden," Chainy replied to my question, "but probably a bad idea nonetheless. A long time ago sometime tried to fish using a net gun, and he got attacked by three Gyarados. Lost the use of his arms and legs and can't control his bladder."

I pondered this and decided that being paraplegic would not help further my plans of world domination. I decided to artfully hide the dynamite I had brought in the bottom of my bag.

"Looks like we're going in the water, if that's cool with you," Bumbles said.

I was excited. I loved being near the water for reasons I couldn't comprehend. Chainy released his Swampert and climbed on its back and Bumbles and his Houndoom got into the lapras-like boat.

"Sorry, Sparks," I said and returned her to her Pokeball. I turned to Ryuu. "Let's go," I said. He jumped in the water and looked amazingly like a shark, the fin on his back rising above the waves and his tail swaying back and forth. I jumped on his back and began to sing. "I'm saaaaailing awaaaaaaay. Set an open course, for the virgin sea!" Ryuu hummed along quietly, but Bumbles and Chainy didn't join in. I assumed they were awed by my talented singing.

Eventually, we reached the middle of the lake. Chainy motioned quietly to a Finneon and Luvdic playing in the water. I stopped singing and stared at the Finneon. Something about it clicked in the back of my mind. I turned to Chainy. "Can I catch it?" I whispered.

OOC: I was in awe XD Also, totally didn't want Luvdisc, but since I already wrote for half of it, might as well go all the way :p

"I know I will." I said, planting both my feet firmly on the bottom of the boat so that I wouldn't fall in. We were in the middle of the lake, so battling on land wasn't going to be an option. I went through all the Pokemon I had with me. Out of all of them, Afterburner and Shadow were the only ones I couldn't use. I was not even planning on using them anyways. I had accidently brought Afterburner instead of Powerglide or Darkwing. At this point, Trypticon was the best choice to use. It could easily swim around in the water and preform strong electrical moves.

I tossed his Pokeball into the water. A bright flash blinded me. I heard a loud splash go into the water. Trypticon didn't look that heavy, but because of the gem it had in the center of its body, it easily weighted more than I did. When the flash cleared, Trypticon couldn't be seen. He was underneath the Luvdisc and Finneon, watching them, looking for the perfect place to strike.

"Tryp, I want you to start this off with a controlled Psyshock attack." I called out. "Make sure you keep it aimed at just the Luvdisc and that it doesn't hit any other Pokemon in the sea. I knew he understood and that he could hear me. I looked into the water and saw a yellow flash coming from about twenty feet below me. I hoped he wouldn't hit any near by Pokemon and that it just hit the Luvdisc.

Psyshock was a Psychic and an Electric move that Trypticon and I had worked on as a combo. His Psychic powers would control the electrical energy he had inside of him and shoot it out in a beam that was channeled towards the opponent with Psychic. I thought this move would be good because it was an Electric attack and Water types like Luvdisc would be greatly effected by it. Not just that, but Pokemon around the area would not get hit because it was going to be controlled.

"Can I catch it?" Alaska whispered to me, staring straight at the Finneon.

"Sure," I whispered back, not quite sure why we were whispering.

Meanwhile, Cameron had already leapt into action. I didn't hear what he said to his newly summoned Starmie, but it spun after the Luvdisc, emitting lightning waves as it did so. Then, the lightning waves took on a blue nimbus and they coalesced into a stream of electricity that plunged into the lakes and writhed around like a snake. The lightning smashed repeatedly into the Luvdisc, doing lots of damage to it. Instead of retreating backwards like I expected, however, the Luvdisc jumped into the air and gingerly kissed the Starmie's jewel.
