Jakku tugged on his goggles onto his head.
"YEAH! Finally!"
He ran out cheerfully.
The class arrives at a field outside of the main academy. Allen's voice comes from inside a large hangar, outside of which some of the sorriest looking ships you've ever seen are parked.
"Just a minute! I'm looking for something."
*Crash*
"Ummm, could someone get in here and help me?"
Jakku dashed over, sword in hand.
It was a comfort thing.
"OK in there?!"
Jakku sees a hand sticking up from under a shelf.
"Could you get this off of me?"
Jakku looked on.
"...Not gonna ask."
He borrowed one of the winches from around the hanger and lifted back up the shelving duly.
"Anything broken?"
"Yup. My right arm. Good thing I'm left handed, isn't it? By the way, your ship is over there." He point towards a large door in the back of the hangar."
Jakku walks over and opens the door. The ship is old, but it still looks powerful. Maybe fifteen feet long, with a wingspan of around twenty feet, it looks kinda like this:
><>O<>< (from the front)
from the front (<> these bits aren't engines, but large openings in the wings.) It two missiles located in each of the openings, and a gatling gun on the nose.
"Wow, not a new model, but thank you sir! And the first lesson gave me some great Wermech stuff to spray on the sides!"
Jakku dashed off into the cockpit, the controls sparking as Jakku rerouted power and repaired the engines.
After jakku managed to taxi out of the hanger, Allen addressed the class.
"I believe in learning by doing. I've loaded all your craft with marking ammunition, and replaced your missiles with duds. If you get shot, land the ship and march around until the end of class. Begin!"
Jakku sat at the controls.
"Let's see.... Engines..."
Jakku pushed a lever forward, and the ship sped up.
"That's better. So landing gear's there..."
He looked around the complex controls.
"Boosters are...?"
He pulled up, off the runway.
"Ah!"
He yanked a lever, and the entire control bank sparked.
"WAAAA!"
Jakku looked out and saw that almost every other kid was having the same trouble he was. Allen had gone off somewhere (probably to get his arm fixed) so there was no-one who could repair the ships. A few nobles with their own ships had gotten airborn, but instead of fighting, they were strafing the students still on the ground.
"EBANSU RAGE!"
Jakku slammed the ship into gear, swerving wildly.
He rammed the first noble strafing the students out of the air, and banked round for the rest, looking for the missiles.
After randomly flipping switches, Jakku found where the missiles were (though he wasted one by flipping the switch). Even though the nobles had much better ships, Jakku noticed that they were all pretty bad pilots.
OOC: Use yer own Char! D: ;)
Jakku tied some string around the controls, yanking the ship this way and that as he leant back, attempting to find out what was wrong with the boosters.
"C'mon..."
The ship rocked as he got punched with a missile.
"Great..."
The lights went out as Jakku managed to get back to the controls.
(OOC: My main character is in the hospital right now. Just blow all but one of the guys out of the sky, then the last one will actually give you a fight.)
Stupidly, two nobles flew right at Jakku, firing without stopping. Jakku laughed as one ran out of ammo, and the other's guns jammed.
OOC: Fine, but this is the last time...
Jakku launched all of his missiles at the enemy cheerfully.
"Right, let's just take down the last guy..."
He lined up his sights, but the enemy moved.
"Damn! He's good!"
