I have something that I've been thinking about for a while now, but I would like to see how others react to it before I really get started. This is just the basis for the roleplay, so I'm not even sure what exactly I plan on doing with it. I could take it anywhere, into a Journey RP, Mission/Quest RP, or something entirely different.

It takes place in the not so distant future, just a few years ahead of now. The world itself hasn't changed too much, but the video-gaming industry has changed vastly. A new system is introduced, created by a large and powerful company that emerged from the shadows. No one knew too much about the company before they created this new system, but no one really asked questions about it. Regardless of how they rose to the state that they are now, the system they built is at the top of the food chain; literally everybody is using it.

And now, Nintendo's Pokemon franchise is headed to the new system.

The system itself is unlike anything else in the world. In a fashion similar to the movies Avatar (James Cameron), Surrogates, and The Matrix, the player is actually connected into the video game. The character's spinal cord is painlessly tapped, and they are transported into the game. Since their physical body cannot be transported, they are put into customizable 'avatars'. However, the player sees as the avatar sees, hears as the avatar hears, feels as the avatar feels. It's the ultimate gaming experience.

With the newest pokemon game, Pokemon World, arriving in stores now, all the fans of the franchise are eagerly preparing for it. With every single pokemon accessible in the game, a mock real-life experience, and an entire planet open to free exploration, the launch date is approaching by the second.

People have been waiting for quite a while for this video game, since the arrival date was postponed a full year. While many suspected that it was delayed for a rather simple reason (something like it just wasn't ready to be sold in stores yet), there is rumor going around that it had an extremely violent glitch in game that needed to be corrected. But, after several people are given the opportunity to demo the game, the glitch's presence is sure to be found in game.

None the less, the game will still go on. What will you do in the Pokemon World? Will you work to save the planet from danger, or will you take a more traditional route, or will you just explore the planet? It's all up to you! But there's one thing for sure that will happen; Pokemon World will change you.

...And that's all I have so far. I know that there's close to nothing that I have planned for the plot, but I just wanted to get my idea out there. So, do you have any advice/criticisms/questions/etc. ?

I haven't got too much planned for a plot, but I've always liked the idea of running an RP with a battle simulator being used for major plot battles, something to add some genuine tension since there's none of that whole "The protagonists are guaranteed a win by the plot" business. How does that sound, or is it just something I shouldn't start working on yet?

Been looking around and there doesnt seem to be a "TPP"(The Pokemon Project) RP. I would actually join it if anyone would to make it.

sweet I'd love to see UDDUP come back Tye. Its been a while and I've become a much better RPer so it'd be great to revisit that world.

Besides that I am here to say that my "Original concept" RP The Crossed. Will most likely be posting a SU thread if people can help me finish up the concepts. I have a thread on full details, but I'm saying this here for the lazy or busy people. Its a magic based RP with some ideas taken from my favorite Animes.

Speaking of Animes I may put together a Soul Eater RP as I've become addicted. Death the Kid, best character I've seen in a long time.

Hey guys. I really love PMD and i hate the True Strength RP on the list of RPGs of April '13, so can i mak an adults-only (15+, with sex and violence and language) appocolypse PMD? It's based on the original Rescue Team games, but it's in an alternitive universe where Rayquaza destroyed the Pokemon demenison, well only the world of talking Pokemon. Set 10 years after the event. Can i do it? If not, can it be 13+?

Yeah honestly, I don't see why promoting violence would help you get more RPers, remember that an RP is decided by the quality of the RP itself, just cause you offer violence doesn't mean people are going to jump at it, a lot of people might actually turn away from excessive violence.

I just told you that I'd eat a popsicle on webcam for you if you made it again, bro. Do it. I don't even care that it would kill my new RP. Hell, I'd delete the thread if it would get RG back.

Oh but of course, but I just think there's something... enticing about turning the usually kid-friendly nature of the series right on it's head and going completely the other way. Some pokémon even look like they were made for it, imagine the damage a Scyther or a Zangoose could do if it got the chance to attack a human with those claws...

In other news, I'm thinking again about the same RP idea I mentioned above, since that was a very long time ago, making a pseudo-tabletop RP, using a battle sim (Pokémon Showdown/Pokémon Online/Netbattle if I could be bothered to start figuring it out) to decide the outcome of battles in the plot and change the plot accordingly. If there was interest in it, it's definitely something I'd need another GM in on, but I want to see if there's interest before I go writing up a plot (and battle rules that make things fair)

    I'll do that then...

For the most part, the plot continues as any other RP would (although not a journey RP, I cannot get along with those for some reason). There are tougher limits to what pokémon players can have, but that's it outside of the battle mechanic.

However, when players get to major plot battles, the resolution of this will not be an automatic 'the players win', instead the GM(s) take the roles of NPCs and the general environ, whilst players use the team they've been building throughout the RP and they all log on to one of the battle simulators mentioned above (I personally recommend Showdown because it has a couple useful tools for this kind of thing, namely the savable replays that don't require the program and Hackmons for 'special' pokémon that would break the actual rules of the game)

Each player must keep track of their defeated pokémon, as if one of their allies falls, the battle continues with all mons that were remaining on each side. Due to the limitations of the programs, lasting damage will not be possible however, nor will use of in-battle item.

Once all members of the PC or NPC groups have been defeated, the group still standing wins, and the plot takes a new direction depending on the victor. This could be anything from a scuffle over Legendary pokémon (which could result in the PCs bagging them) to the great final battle on which everything rides.

Basically the idea is that RPs have no real tension to them half of the time - due to their format, the protagonists have literally no chance to lose since nobody wants to piss off their players. Part of the concept is to avert this by creating a real chance for the protagonists to fail.

I only have the very basics barebones of a plot at the moment, but it revolves around the idea that a villanous team actually succeeded (namely Plasma) and now they rule over the world, oppressing Trainers that may rise against them and never allowing Trainers to become powerful apart from their own specialist group (which serve as rivals to the PCs and are lovingly referred to as "the only competent Trainers Plasma has ever hired")

Oh, and my background is in competitive battling, so I'm sure I can pull off the balance side of this and cater to all abilities of Trainer.
