Re: The Sounding Board
Oh. I was under the impression that it was an unused concept. Oh well, at least it's different.
As for organization, I think I already have that covered. RPers would fit their characters into one of the three factions. I will control the leaders of the three factions, assigning missions to the different factions, most of them throwing two or more of them into a conflict of some sort, but the outcome of these missions isn't predetermined, and may affect future scenarios. So, it has some structure to it, but still allows plentiful room for deviations.
And NPC interaction? The different members of the faction can control the more faceless members of whatever squad they happen to be in at the moment. Random civilians can simply be controlled by anyone who's interacting with them.
I'm still working on this, I'm just throwing the ideas out there.

Re: The Sounding Board
Yeah, but the thing is, that means that interactions will always work in a person's favor. What's the fun in making your character make a speech if you know they'll succeed in getting the peasants to fight somebody?
-
Re: The Sounding Board
Hmm. You do have a fair point in that. I suppose that I and a Co-GM or two that I would assign along the way would handle that problem, out of a lack for any better solutions that I can come up with.

Re: The Sounding Board
I've got another question. How fantastic are the supernatural abilities. Are we talking more Sci-Fi-esque, like with psychic powers and stuff, or more magical, like summoning demons and casting magic missile and stuff?
-
Re: The Sounding Board
I was thinking Sci-Fi. Things like telekinesis, supernatural senses, X-ray vision...basically, super-enhanced human capabilities.

Re: The Sounding Board
I've been juggling this idea but I don't know if I should do it or not.
Death Seekers
The story is about a group of people who share one thing in common, they are all dead. These people are known as Death Seekers people that have witnessed a special kind of invisible creature known as a Death the Death Seekers then either die after being noticed by these creatures or are killed by a Death Seeker and become one themselves.
The story centers around a group of Death Seekers that have been sent on a mission to catch a Death Lord a dark spirit that controls the Deaths and is planning to throw the balance into turmoil by making them go out of control. However the group also have to deal with the rules of a Death Seeker in that they're not able to interact with people from their past or else they will disappear forever.
So anyway the RP is basically a group of Death Seekers that have been sent on a mission to stop the Death Lord and his army of Deaths before they start killing people madly it's still in its planning stages so it's a little simple at the moment.

Re: The Sounding Board
I have an idea rolling in my head based on the anime "Angel Beats!"

Re: The Sounding Board
Anybody ever hear of a game by the name of StarTropics?

Re: The Sounding Board
So, aiming for a simpler RP concept:
Live and Let Live
The premise is basically, two groups set out from Unova and head west, into the wild. They then set up two, brand new towns, out in the forests west of Unova. Essentially, it’s a simple, slice-of-life-ish RP. The two groups more or less compete to see who can build the best town and society from scratch.
It should be almost entirely player-driven. They decide what to build: simple houses, more elaborate mansions, schools, markets, etc. They decide what kind of government they want: democracy, republic, dictatorship, oligarchy, etc. And most importantly, they simply decide how to live.
Basically, the central goal of the game will be to complete a giant ‘checklist,’ set by the GM, with all the basics of society:
- Build a school
- Build utilities
- Build defenses against the wild Pokemon
To more elaborate things:
- Build a monument to your town’s survival
- Build a historical museum
- Build a Gym
Beyond that, I suppose the only gameplay limitation will be a time/action limit. That is, you can only do so much in a certain amount of time (probably a week), with town halls deciding the general action on weekends. So every week, the people of each town gather and decide what they want to accomplish: build bigger homes, improve the school, work on communications, etc.
I just wanted something really simple and laid-back, as GMing full-time adventures can be exhausting. So, what do you think? Feasible? Interesting? Fun?

Re: The Sounding Board
Love that idea Renewal xD

Re: The Sounding Board
Sounds like the offpring of Harvest Moon and SIM City xD
-
Re: The Sounding Board
Needs moar demons. And vampires.
-
Re: The Sounding Board
Not really I like it it's a pretty easygoing RP and sounds fun especially with all the action based RPs going around.
-
Re: The Sounding Board
Please no xD That's all most bloody non pokemon RP's have here.
-
Re: The Sounding Board
That's pretty much my thought as well; all of my RPs have been action-driven, so I wanted something a little more laid-back. I suppose there can be something like the occasional natural calamity to raise the stakes, but nothing completely out of the ordinary.
And yeah, the concept more or less came from the Sims and such XD. I'd imagine it as a mix of the Sims and SimCity: the ultimate goal is a large scale society, but the bulk of the RP will be on the micro, personal level.
