Lady curled-up and went to sleep right on the kitchen-floor.
"Well, that takes care of that." Calvin said. "Hey, did you leave the door open?"
"No. And Dragonite was the last one in."
"And she's nowhere in sight." Calvin said. "She musta went out to spread her wings." He paused to think for a moment. "It must feel good, being able to stretch one's wings."
((Jesus, stop tempting the irony-gods!!))
Maya was strangely quiet.
((Jesus isn't here, dear. And I doubt he'd be tempting the irony gods.))
"Did I say the wrong thing...?"
"I'm not sure you wanna know. If I tell you, you'll be in danger, too."
"Tch, please. Danger's my middle name. And you can trust me."
Maya closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Slowly, she extended her wings.
Calvin went pale and stumbled over to the door, shutting it. "What?"
Maya pulled her wings back in and opened her eyes. "I'm a human-avian hybrid, which basically means I'm part-bird. I'm 98% human, 2% bird."
"So... that's why you freaked out when Camille dragged us to the mall." Calvin said slowly, still pale. "I had a subconscious feeling something wasn't normal about you. But then,, normalcy is overrated."
Maya looked suprised. "You aren't freaked-out?"
"Do you see my face?" Calvin asked, pointing to his pale face. "Isn't it pale? Because it feels pale. But for the most part, I'm getting over it."
"It is. But at-least you aren't tryin to kill me. That's what we're always told would happen if we told somebody."
