But the Changeling kept shrinking, until it was about the size of a newborn foal. However, it's body shape was more like that of Queen Chrysalis than a drone. It whimpered, looking at the two in front of it, but especially Samus.

"It's just a baby..." Twilight muttered. "Chrysalis must have been nesting down here and this one was left behind before the invasion...please don't let it be my niece..." she muttered, Shining Armor having not been able to remember if something like that was possible or not, but it was something they were rather afraid of.

Samus walked over and changed into her Zero Suit, crouching down to pick the foal up. "It's okay, it's okay..." She cooed out, her motherly instinct out in full force as she looked at the baby with motherly eyes.

The foal blinked, looking at her. The motherly affection was like honey to a bee...but it was scared...Still, it missed its mother, it had never seen its mother, so it slowly approached Samus, sniffing her. Something seemed strangely familiar about her.

"I think its a young queen," Twilight added. "It looks more like Chrysalis than the drones."

"I see. Sounds like Chrysalis had made another Queen Changeling in case she is killed or something. Whatever it maybe, we have to take her out of here. This is no environment to raise a child. Unless you're a Diamond Dog pup." Samus said, extending her hand to let the filly smell her.

Twilight looked at how the Changeling looked at her as the filly smelled her hand, the little Changeling looked like it knew her, but didn't...it was weird. Then it hit her. "Wait...Samus, I've only been to one alternate universe, and in that universe, there were alternate versions of us...I haven't seen anything for the alternate version of the Space Pirates, though maybe that was the Changelings themselves in a way, or it doesn't quite work like that between your world and ours, the space pirates in ours might be a primitive species on a backwater planet somewhere, or their counterparts are scattered...But, do you think maybe this Changeling is the alternate Baby?"

Samus gasped as she looked at the filly. She saw recognition in those bright green eyes of hers. "Baby?" She asked softly, as if she was asking a phantom of the past. Tears welled up in her eyes as she inched nearer to the Changeling foal.

The filly didn't know how exactly to respond. It seemed familiar...she felt safe around the being before her...even safer than she had with...who was it? She'd hatched down here and everyone was gone...she'd found the weird thing that made her big and angry, but she was still so alone...The Changeling inched closer and nuzzled Samus's hand.

Twilight was amazed, but also panicked. Was...was this ok? How would Celestia react? The Changelings had attacked Canterlot...would Celestia let Samus keep the little Changeling?

"Well, this is certainly interesting," said Celestia's voice as she descended and looked the scene over. "Well, I see you've made a new friend, Samus, how lovely."

Samus smiled tearfully as the filly nuzzled her hand, then on instinct turned around and shielded the Changeling baby from Celestia, looking like a mother Ursa just waiting for the unfortunate fool to try and attack her or her baby.

"How did you find us?" She asked with a surprisingly indifferent tone.

"There was a gigantic battle in the caves under my castle," Celestia replied. She then smiled. "Samus, do you honestly believe I would take that child from you?"

Twilight blinked. "Huh?" she asked. "Not that I'm not happy but..."

"I am not a specist, Twilight," Celestia replied. "Yes, the Changelings attacked Canterlot, and I did fully intend to reduce Chrysalis to ash when we fought. But Chrysalis was a monster, her species was not. In fact, some benign Changelings came to me after her defeat and begged for political asylum FROM her. And I permitted it, they haven't caused any trouble," she replied, looked to Samus and the child. "Chrysalis was a power hungry glutton, Changelings can survive perfectly well on the love they're given by those that love them. So long as Samus provides the child with love and affection, then I don't see any reason she should not keep it. Besides, even if I wanted to take it, the resulting fight would likely cause more damage than to allow her to keep it." Knowing the fight between a sun goddess and the universe's most dangerous bounty hunter would be devastatingly destructive.

"Yes, it would have." Samus said, relieved that Celestia wouldn't dare to take her baby from her.

She then turned around and picked up the baby Changeling. "Thank you, Celestia. Though I wonder how the others would take it." She wondered, stroking the babe's cheek.

Later...

"You adopted a WHAT?!!" Dash screamed in shock, getting Applejack to cover her mouth and shushed her.

"Did I stutter?" Samus asked rhetorically.

The baby cuddled close to Samus, simply soaking up the love given to her and not taking anything Samus didn't give her.

"Princess Celestia permitted it, and said there are actually GOOD Changelings living in Equestria by her permission. They came her running FROM Chrysalis," Twilight explained. "That and this particular Changeling seems to be the alternate universe version o the Metroid that believed she was its mother."

"What Met-oh, that one." Dash said, calming down.

"Just relax, Rainbow. She's not going to harm anyone. Besides, who can she hurt with a face this cute?" Samus said, showing to Dash the baby's face.

"So, what are you going to name the little critter?" Applejack asked.

"I'm thinking... Adina. Adina Aran." Samus said, looking at the baby with motherly love.

The newly named Adina blinked, and looked Rainbow Dash over, looking rather adorable. She had eyes more like Chrysalis', once more differing her from the drones, only considerably less menacing in appearance. She then smiled to Samus.

"She's also an infant queen," said Twilight. "Meaning, with Samus raising her, someday we'll have someone as powerful as Chrysalis, at least in her default state before she drained Shining, on our side..."

"Um...speaking of Shining Armor..." Rarity added, awkwardly, knowing exactly what might have happened.

"I know...Celestia is having a DNA test done," said Twilight, it being simple to pinch off a tiny piece of the baby's exoskeleton to test. "ADAM should have the results done later...But what are we going to do if it's true though?"

"That's a tough question. We don't know how long Chrysalis had Shining Armor and Cadence, and let's not go into the relationship side of things." Applejack said, not wanting to think about it.

"If S.A. is the genetic father, he can visit Adina as much as he wishes." Samus said, sitting down.

"Well, Samus solved it." Dash said flatly.

The Etecoons looked at Adina inquisitively, as were the Danchoras.

Adina blinked, looking Etecoons and Danchoras, cocking her head.

"But...I'm just concerned how Shining would handle the fact he was..." Twilight replied, giving a shudder. "...And I wonder if Chrysalis knows her daughter is an infant queen...we might have a fight on our hooves if she comes for her."
