It is him! Jenny thought, recognizing the name upon hearing it. "Well... more just acquaintances, but we do know him."
"Oh, okay. Are you gonna come in, then?"
"Sure... thanks..." Jenny said as she stepped inside.
The Infernape showed them in, to the same room that Glenn was already sat in.
"Oh," the Gallade said. "You decided to come in, then. You're either brave, stupid, or..." He pondered what word to use. "...innocent."
"They're innocent. I'm stupid for not trying harder to stop them, and also for coming along," Max replied.
"For now, don't worry about it. I'm not here to hurt anyone. I'm just here on a visit, is all. Besides, I needed some time away from the other two. Gavin's such a downer, and Getxo's voice is just so irritating."
"And you really wanted to see me, too, right?" the Infernape asked.
Glenn sighed. "Yes, Mark, and I wanted to see you."
"Since we're not fighting right now, could we talk a bit?" Jenny asked hopefully.
"I guess so. And I'm already anticipating a lecture on good and evil, so you can dispense with that."
"I know you've answered this question before, but I never understood your answer. Why do you feel the need to terrorize a town of helpless and innocent pokemon for a... a mistake that only a few pokemon made? Does it satisfy you somehow?"
"It used to. But now, it doesn't even make sense to me. In a way, I've forgotten exactly why I got involved with the whole war in the forest in the first place."
"Revenge," Max said. "Something that drives people to do things they would never do otherwise. Pointless things..."
"It's a lot more complex than that; take it from someone who's been working on Onyx Village's side all along. If it's just revenge, why would everyone react in exactly the same way?" Glenn sighed, and shook his head. "Why would everyone suddenly think it a good idea to steal some orphan kid to use as a power source? You would've thought at least one person might suggest having an Electric-type or two volunteer to work in his stead."
"Everyone had the same idea and agreement at once?" Max said. "All... all of the people working there?"
"No-one objected or offered any other ideas, at any rate. In retrospect, that seems wrong, somehow. It wasn't like they had anything to fear by suggesting alternative methods..."
"If you were the one who suggested it, well... you're part psychic type. It's not out of the question that you could have accidentally forced everyone to agree with you. If you weren't the one who suggested the idea, then you may have been... being used."
