Jenny took a wide stance in preparation for attack, and Max stood calmly and began the fight by directing a Focus Blast at Gexto.
Getxo seemed unconcerned about taking the attack in its entirety, retaliating, as was its fashion, with an oddly well-split Tri Attack, striking at Max with the fiery element, sending the electrical element at Derek, and the icy one at Jenny.

Max, hoping the Porygon2 was somehow bluffing or just incapable of showing pain or concern, quickly dodged the fiery part of the Tri-Attack and ran forward to perform a Force Palm on it.
Jenny wasn't a fast; she took the ice at full force, and she shivered for just a moment before using Rollout on Gavin.
Derek couldn't avoid Getxo's attack in time, either, and it left him momentarily stunned, but not paralysed proper. Getxo, meanwhile, again, took Max's attack, responding with a Signal Beam.
The Signal Beam hit Max, but he stood his ground and delivered a Brick Break. Argh, I wish he'd show something so I could at least know how much damage I'm doing... Is it possible I'm actually not doing anything?
Whether or not he was remained unclear, since Getxo continued to refuse to show any outward signs of discomfort, let alone pain. It bowed again, and released another Signal Beam, then started to move while the attack was being delivered, to find a better vantage-point, and put some distance between itself and Max.
Max managed to dodge this time, and he realized what Gexto was trying to do. For a moment he didn't care, but then he realized why it must be doing so- Nearly all of my attacks are physical! He didn't move towards Gexto, though, and instead waited for it to distance itself from Max and the others, using Focus Blast once again.
Getxo bowed with such force that it performed a somersault mid-air, somehow avoiding the brunt of the attack, though not avoiding taking damage.
Derek, meanwhile, recovered from his momentary paralysis, and readied a Shell Blade, launching himself into the battle as well.
Gavin was ready to combat him, dashing at him with his blades at the ready.
From one of my many conversations with That Guy:
"OOOOHHHHHHHH MARIE HAD A LITTLE LAMB—*ding* Good morning!"
Wielding the attack as a proper weapon, and feeling as though he had no choice, Derek engaged Gavin in what could be considered a kind of deadly fencing-match.
Getxo, again, took the attack unflinchingly, then appeared to start to retreat. However, owing at least partly to Gavin's presence, the sense of a battle occurring had not lifted.
Getxo's only reply before disappearing around a corner was, "Soon."
