    “Good morning, class. I'm Mr. Gibbs―” He wrote his name on the board. “―and I shall be your French teacher for this semester. So without further ado, let me take attendance. Now, I don't know any of you, so you're going to have to tell me who you are.”
    He took out a sheet of paper. “Let's see here... Carol?”

    “Alright, I think that's everyone.” Mr. Gibbs walked over to the door, which Wes noticed had a small clip attached to it. He put the paper in the clip, presumably for someone to pick up.
    “OK, so for today, you'll be relieved to know that you won't have any homework, first of all. Second of all, since we're all pretty new to each other―some of you may have introduced yourselves to each other before class―we're going to play a little game. We're going to go around the classroom, and each of you is going to say one thing about yourselves―in French, if you can; it's alright if you don't know a word. I'll start. J'ai deux Chao. Tom.” He pointed at 'Tom' as he said his name.

    The crossword was full of French words; a couple easy ones, but a couple hard ones, too; overall, somewhat challenging.
