The Element Emeralds: The Electric Mouse *Me(Alex64) and That Guy*

Wes supposed that he should go ahead and follow him, now that he had a Pokémon.

He was stopped- as Lucas had been- by someone dressed in the uniform of a PokéMart salesperson.
"Slow down, there. New Trainer, I take it?"

“Yep, we are,” Wes said.

He handed out a Potion to Wes, as he had just done to Lucas.
"Then take this. Consider it a gift from this region's chain of PokéMarts. In return...well, just don't forget that we exist."

“Right, thanks.” He resumed walking through Route 1.

Shortly ahead lay the first major city that Wes would encounter: the grand Viridian City. This town had a Gym in it, true- but it seemed to be perpetually closed. Aside from this and the general green-ness of the area, the only other feature of note was its westward road, which was the only path from Kanto to the Indigo Plateau. Of course, this information would be of no use to Wes until later-- much later.

Wes headed into the Poké Mart, since the man on Route 1 was so kind to him.

He was allowed to look around for a few moments before an attendant approached him.
"Excuse me," she said. "Did you come from Pallet Town?"

“Yeah, I did,” he said.

"Then would you mind delivering these to Professor Oak, if it's not too much hassle?" She offered a parcel to him. "We'd deliver it ourselves, but we're sort of understaffed at the moment."

“Sure thing.” He accepted the parcel, thinking, To think I'd have to return to Pallet Town so soon...

"Thanks," the attendant said, and then went back to work.

With that, he headed back out of the Poké Mart, and back into Route 1.

As he was walking through the grass, he was accosted by a disgruntled, aggressive wild Pidgey, which seemed to wish to engage him in battle.

“Alright, Terri, you know what to do!” Wes said to Terri.
“Right!” She jumped off of his shoulder and landed in front of him, ready to fight the wild Pidgey.
