This attack only had the effect of dizzying Jake.

From one of my many conversations with That Guy:
"OOOOHHHHHHHH MARIE HAD A LITTLE LAMB—*ding* Good morning!"
"…DAFFAQ?"

Chase still used this to his advantage, giving him a rather base punch then shoving him aside, and moving, via Chaos Control, to another vantage point.
Birdsong - An exploration of the human psyche at a point of being highly unstable, yet stable enough to recognise its insanity. Also officially the second-best piece of dark fiction of this year's Winter awards season and Fic of the Month of March (and technically April) 2013. Interested? You should be. Give it a look.
Also, I play Animal Crossing: New Leaf. If you don't like it, tough, and if you do, let me know. It'll be the closest thing I'll do to socialising this summer!
Looks like we'll need to stun him first, Travis thought, and fired a few rounds at him.
From one of my many conversations with That Guy:

"…DAFFAQ?"

Of the shots that did hit him, they only stunned him for a moment each, and the realisation that Travis could be a threat made him teleport away again, briefly behind Travis to kick him in the back of the head, then to a new point in the room, firing three more rifts; one at each member of Team Gemini.

The boys attempted to dodge out of the way of these rifts.

Megan also dodged hers. What they weren't counting on was the rifts bouncing off the walls of the room, ricoheting in new directions. Clearly, dodging them once wasn't enough.

Jake wondered if he could hit these rifts back at Chase, and attempted to do so.

Striking it had the strange effect of making the rift ripple, but it gave the intended effect, too, also speeding it up. Seeing it coming, Chase batted it back. Megan struck the one intended for her at Chase, wondering if they could overcome him with the power of tennis, as her brain would put it.

Jake hit the rift again, as Travis hit his rift at Chase.

Beginning to grow overwhelmed, he hit two of the rifts back, but they dissipated when the third hit him, dizzying him and stunning him.

Seeing his chance, Jake slashed at him with his laser sword.

Megan took the opportunity to strike him with her hammer, too, before he regained his faculties and teleported away again, now drawing a pair of laser swords.

A pair of laser swords... Just like his female counterpart, Travis thought.
From one of my many conversations with That Guy:

Chase held the swords in an X-shape in front of his chest, then charged forwards at alarming speed, then, after a delay, whipped both swords forth, spreading his arms- and hence the swords- widely, hoping to strike all three of them.

Travis jumped up into the air, while Jake rolled backwards out of the way. His Chao fell out of his pocket, with a spiral over its head. Now it was an undeniable shade of dark red, with a jagged tip on the back of its head, light red markings on its chest, hands, and feet, and a pink ball over its head.
