From one of my many conversations with That Guy:
"OOOOHHHHHHHH MARIE HAD A LITTLE LAMB—*ding* Good morning!"
"…DAFFAQ?"

"Oh, alright, shut up already..." Baggue ruffled his tail feathers, and led the group to a back corner of the foyer, to an elevator that looked larger than the rest, but darker. It seemed it was a service elevator, reserved for staff and maintenance crew. That would make sense, given their destination.
I still don't have a banner for it, but I'm going to keep the link to this wiki in my sig' anyway. Y'know, because it means a lot to me.
Birdsong - An exploration of the human psyche at a point of being highly unstable, yet stable enough to recognise its insanity. Also officially the second-best piece of dark fiction of this year's Winter awards season and Fic of the Month of March 2013. Interested? You should be. Give it a look.
Cal was thinking along the same lines.

The peacock herded them into the elevator, and set it to go to one of the marked maintenance levels. Despite his apparent dissatisfaction with his job, he certainly seemed to have done his homework on this case, knowing exactly where to go like this.

Cal started to wonder what they would find here.

This elevator seemed to move more quickly than the regular public ones. Perhaps staff safety was less of a concern to the people in charge of this hotel than the safety of its patrons. Regardless, they were soon brought to one of the dingier corridors running in the parts of the hotel the guests didn't normally see. Despite the gloom, Baggue did not remove his sunglasses.

I suppose he wears those sunglasses all the time while he's on the job, Cal thought.

"It should be one of the rooms down here," he told the group. 'Down here' was a set of corridors like the ones that led to the various guest-rooms, but much wider, and with doors on only the left-hand wall.
Checking an index displayed on the wall by one of the corridors, Cairne confirmed, "Somewhere down this one."

Well, at least we're not trying to find the camera room by ourselves.

The camera room wasn't, in actuality, even that far down the corridor. The door was shut, but it said CCTV CONTROL DECK on it in big letters, and the bluish light of many, many monitors was shining through the crack between the door and the floor.

“So this is it?”
From one of my many conversations with That Guy:
"OOOOHHHHHHHH MARIE HAD A LITTLE LAMB—*ding* Good morning!"

"Certainly looks like it," Cairne said, trying the door. Somewhat surprisingly, it opened without resistance. The two most striking things about the room were that it smelled very strongly of roses- very strongly indeed, as if the room had been filled to capacity with the scent, and only now that the door was open was it allowed to disperse and become less olfactorily aggravating- and that there was a swivel-chair in front of the wall of monitors, occupied by someone tied in place, with a burlap sack concealing their identity. It seemed, on top of the attempted murders, there had been a kidnapping!

“Wha―what happened here?!”
From one of my many conversations with That Guy:
"OOOOHHHHHHHH MARIE HAD A LITTLE LAMB—*ding* Good morning!"
"…DAFFAQ?"

"And why does it smell so pretty?" Regina added.
Cairne marched over to the chair and unmasked its occupant. Beneath the sack, the captive had been blindfolded and gagged- but it didn't seem to matter; Rex was asleep anyway. Chances were, he had no idea he had even left his room, never mind ending up here.
