Calvin shrugged and pointed at Leon. "Why are you here?"

"I heard she was okay and wantted to say hi."

"Holy shit," Maya exclaimed, "Where, why, and how does everyone get information about me?"

"Your nanos." Leon said. "Everyone knows."

Maya had a What-The-Fuck?-expression on her face. "Huh?"

"Nanomachines." Leon said. "Microscopic machines that were injected into your bloodstream. They have many functions, which include monitoring you."

"Sounds like an invasion of privacy." Calvin growled.

Maya was deathly pale. The mind was blank. It looked like she had possibly stopped breathing.

"..." Calvin waved a hand in front of her. "See what you did?"

"You and Camille have 'em too."

"Son of-" He slugged Leon in the jaw out of pure anger.

Maya was still staring into space, much too pale, with a horrified, terrified expression.

"Maya, you okay?" Camille called, coming out of the water. "Leon, what did you do?"

"He told her that we've got nanomachines in us that let people track and monitor us."

Camille slugged Leon.

Maya started to sway a little involuntarily.

Calvin saw this, and quickly held her still.

"But wait, that's not all they do!" Leon exclaimed.

Maya didn't even blink. She was breathing, but they were quick, tiny little breaths.

"The nanomachines also administer adrenaline, nutrients and sugar, and they keep you from getting sick." Leon explained. "And they recharge off your body heat."

"When did we get these nanomachines?" Calvin asked. "Wait... I know. They must have injected them with those flu shots."

"But Maya skipped out on the flu shots!" Camille said. "So how did-"

"Remember when she came down with that STD after Jesse raped her?" Leon asked. "The nanomachines were in the IV. The nanomachines altered the disease so it was nonfatal, but the best it could to was give her temporary amnesia instead."

"Son of a bitch."

Maya didn't seem to hear anything that was vein said, still staring off into space with the same expression.

"So they injected her with the nanomachines to save her, but why are they monitoring all of us?" Camille asked.

"My guess is that they wanna know where all the operatives are at any given moment in case something bad happens." Leon said. "I only know what I've already told you."
