Thread: Welcome to the World of Pokémon ~ Kanto Edition

"Of course!" Rika replied happily. She and Tory quickly caught up with him and Cinder.
"So... We're going on Route 1, right?"

"Of course, then up through Viridian" Tye paused as he walked along with Rika. "Then we will move through Viridian Forest, I hear it's nice this time of year" he smiled as he looked over at her. "Then we will have reached our first Gym in Pewter."

Cinder looked over to Tory, then quickly looked back. She may have been tough on the outside, but she was often to shy to talk...

"Alright, cool." Rika smiled back at him.
Suddenly, a patch of tall grass in the field that stretched out ahead of them rustled. A small, bird-like Pokémon flew out.
It's a Pidgey, Rika thought. She grabbed out a Poké Ball and inched towards it.

"You can do it" Tye whispered encouragingly as he gave her a "tumbs up"

She was now just a few feet away from the Pidgey.
"Tory, use Bubble!" she commanded her Squirtle.
Tory obeyed and shot a stream of bubbles at the Pidgey, which splashed and slightly weakened it. The Pidgey quickly retaliated by leaping over to Tory and flapping its wings against the ground, creating a cloud of dust. Tory closed his eyes to avoid it.
"Awesome job, Tory! Now, finish it off with Tackle!"
Tory lunged himself at the Pidgey, knocking it to the ground. Grinning, Rika threw her Poké Ball at it. The Poké Ball opened, turning the Pidgey into red energy and sucking it inside. The ball then shook; Pidgey was clearly trying to escape. A few seconds later, the ball stopped moving, and the button on the front clicked. Elated, Rika rushed over to the ball and picked it up.
"YES! I CAUGHT MY FIRST POKÉMON!" she cheered, thrusting the Poké Ball into the air.

Tye smiled, "Good job, that was an awesome capture" He strode up behind the girl, he then patted her on the back.

Rika blushed. "Thanks," she said.

Cole slipped out of the tall grass of Route 1 in Viridian City, Seed trailing happily. Aside from a few thorn scrapes and a bite from a particularly nasty Rattata, he seemed perfectly fine and still full of energy. Cole smiled at this, envious of how Seed had managed to end up more energetic than he was.

Cole looked up and noticed the sun beginning to touch the trees, rays of orange light beginning to color the horizon, and was swept over by a wave of exhaustion. He hadn't had this exciting of a day in quite a while, and it was beginning to get to him. "How about we rest up in the Pokemon Center until morning?" he asked Seed, who nodded and climbed up onto Cole's shoulder. "I guess that's settled, then."

"No, problem...I give complements where they are deserved" Tye smiled to her. He grabbed Rika's hand and gently pulled her to continue down the trail.

Rika smiled to herself, still blushing. Looking at her newly caught Pidgey, she wondered for a moment what she should name it.
I'll decide later, she thought. As Tye held her hand, she couldn't think straight...

"So, how are you? Happy?" Tye strode along with Cinder behind him...

"Yes. Very," Rika replied cheerfully. "And you?"

"Good" Tye smiled. As the two strode along, Viridian City opened in front of them... "Wow!" Was all Tye could say...

Rika was speechless. She and her family had driven through it many times for shopping or visiting relatives, but it seemed so much more magnificent as she stood on the edge.
Trees outlined the city and were scattered in between the many buildings that stood along the paved concrete roads. Among the buildings were a Trainer's School, a Gym, and a Pokémon Center.
"Where should we go first?" Rika asked after a few moments.
