Thread: Pokemon Journeys: Hoenn

The three trainers began to walk down the short Route 1 towards Oldale Town. Not making it very far along, Nate heard some sort of commotion, kind of like a Pokemon battle causing him to ask the others, "I wonder whats going on over there?" He walked through tall grass to find the trainer that was in Birch's lab before seemeingly unable to battle a Poochyena. "Looks like a great time for our first battle, right Mudkip!?" he said, throwing his Pokeball a couple feet in front of him, releasing his Mudkip. "Alright, go and save that other Mudkip, use tackle on that Poochyena!" he called out, causing the Mudkip to charge at the small dog Pokemon.

Upon seeing the other trainer enter the battle, Jay took a few steps back. His little Mudkip followed and hid behind. Jay noticed that this was the same kid from the lab, the one who'd also picked Mudkip as a starter. With him were two others who Jay also recognised from the lab.

"Guess we should watch and see how it's done, huh little guy?" Jay looked down at his own Mudkip. It seemed there was already a big difference between this Mudkip and the one battling. Jay wasn't really surprised though for he knew nothing about Pokemon battles.

"Now the others are gonna think I'm a complete noob" Jay muttered to himself. His Mudkip also seemed rather embarassed in front of the rival Mudkip who was making all this look easy.

Anna looked at the fight, she motioned to Chicky. "let's try to help," she said "Use scratch!" the fire bird leaped at the Poochyena, making small slashing movements with it's claws, trying to land on the dog and hit it's back.

After landing a successful tackle on the Poochyena, Mudkip noticed that a Torchic was now attempting to help him out. Mudkip did not like this and proceeded to kick sand at Torchic from the ground, allowing the Poochyena to get a way. A little surprised by what Mudkip was doing, Nate rushed over and tried to reason with his Pokemon, "Mudkip don't do that, torchic was just trying help!" Mudkip kicked one more pile of sand at Torchic, then walked back over to Nate, seemingly satisfied with what it had accomplished. "Sorry about that" Nate said to Anna, "I guess he needs some lessons in manners" he added, gesturing to his Mudkip.

"Uhhh should we help them, Treecko?" Oliver asked his Pokemon, checkingbout some of his stats on the pokedex. Through this he learned Treecko knows Bullet Seed, Pound, and Leer.

Treecko shook his head a bit "Treecko Tree." (I'd let Mudkip fight his own battle.) he said

Torchic shook it's self and trotted over to Anna. "You ok?" Anna asked the chick nodded, but took a second to glare at the mudkip. "So" Anna said "we're going to a town?"

"Uh yes, Oldale Town" he said, as he continued to walk. He figured it might be best to leave Mudkip out of its Pokeball so it could meet and communicate with some of the other Pokemon, but it seemed as if it only wanted to walk right next to Nate.

Oliver pulled out his Pokenav to check the distance to Oldale town "Well according to my Pokenav, we should be able to reach it before sunset." he said as he closed it

"Treeeecko!" (That sounds perfect!) Treecko said, noticing Mudkip seemed to stay by Nate

"Hey, that was pretty cool" Jay shouted out to Nate and Anna as he picked up his surfboard and ran after the trainers. Mudkip was also hopping along beside Jay, trying to get the attention of Nate's Mudkip. It seemed to admire this tougher Mudkip and wanted to learn how to be strong too. Jay was also keen to learn and figured maybe by hanging around other trainers he might be able to pick up the basics to Pokemon.

"So where you guys headed?" Jay asked the three of them casually, "I figured I might tag along for a bit." Mudkip jumped up and down, liking the sound of spending more time with Nate's Mudkip. Right now it thought Nate's Mudkip was the coolest Pokemon in the world!

"We're heading to Oldale Town, where I guess we're gonna rest for the night, but we're all eventually on our way to Rustboro City, where the first Gym is! Yeah, feel free to come along" he said. Mudkip noticed that htis other Mudkip seemed quite excited for some reason, he continued to walk right be Nate's side, not acknowledging the other Pokemon.

Anna had picked up her Torchic, and was caring it in her arms. "your Mudkips seem to get along" he said.

Oliver chuckled a bit as he watched the two Mudkips interact. He seemed a bit nervous though around Jayden, knowing he's from Dewford Town. "Well uhhh yeah...First gym is in Rustboro though Norman's gym in Petalburg is on the way." he said

"I think trainers usually skip Normans gym though, I've heard its pretty tough" Nate commented. Mudkip had now found that Jay's Mudkip was following it, "Mudkip Mud" (You know, you dont have to follow me) the Pokemon said.

"Not long to go" Mia muttered to herself as she quickly made her way towards Oldale. She returned her Treecko into its ball because Mia wanted to get there faster. It was a dull road and not much action. Not even any awesome Pokemon that would tickle her fancy. So she continued to walk and surely she would get there "Soon"

"you're right" Anna said "let's just go to Rustboro City is that Oldale Town up ahead?"
