Welcome, one and all, to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizadry.

We congratulate you on your acceptance into this fine establishment and are eager to allow your enrollment. As you should well know the Wizarding World is, at present, in a state of harmony; the last Wizarding War ended a great many years ago, and while we are thankful for the generous contributions of our ancestors such talk is mere history now.

Of course even over these long years little has changed; new teaching staff, new students, yes, but the same rivalries and predjudices as have always existed still linger. We ask, of course, that you try to get along with all of your fellow students during your time at Hogwarts, but, alas, we are fully aware of how difficult such a feat is for young first-years.

But I am rambling.

Rules

(i)
As GM (and with samedwards being co-GM) what I (and he) say, goes. Don't argue with it.

(ii)
While I'd hope we can stick as close to canon as possible in terms of the layout of Hogwarts/how the school functions etc. if any changes are made they can be put down to changes being made over the years. Nonetheless no impossible feats of magic, etc.

(iii)
No god-modding, tennising for a page or more etc. etc.

(iv)
Mild gore/swearing/romance allowed, but nothing too extreme, please.

(v)
No animagus', metamorphagus', parselmouths, werewolves, necromancers etc. unless approved by a GM before the sign-up has been made. There can only be two students possessing the same ability (except for the animagus ability), and students may only possess two at most (except for the animagus ability).

(vi)
No choosing your own house. This shall be done by the GM/co-GM after looking over your character's personality and history. The only exception to this rule is if, for whatever reason, you desperately want your character in a certain house/not in a certain house - then PM either me or samedwards and we'll make the necessary arrangements.

(vii)
You may have up to three students and two teachers as characters.

(viii)
These rules may be changed or altered at any time by the GM.

Changes to Canon

(1)
Unusual pets such as snakes/lizards/small rodents have been allowed. You may have one so long as permission is given by GM/co-GM. The same goes for having more than one pet.

(2)
First years may own their own brooms, however they are kept in possession of the school unless being used with a teacher supervising.

(3)
All years may be selected for their quidditch team, however years one through three play a seperate tournament from years four through seven, with both contributing to the House Point total.

(4)
The D.A. is now an official club, with seperate sessions running for each year, on a Saturday afternoon. The D.A. is officially run by the D.A.D.A professor, but this can change depending on whether the professor is busy.

(5)
There is a Dark Arts class, to help lift some of the predjudice over 'dark' magic, however most of the work is theoretical, and students are not allowed to use the spells unless they are under a teacher's guidance.

Appearance;
Cole is slightly tall for his age, enough so that he gives off a slightly commanding aura. He is extremely thin, with no trace of fat anywhere on his body. You could literally count his ribs through his skin, and nearly every bone of his is visible from outside. No matter how much Cole eats, he never seems to put on much more weight or get any fatter. Believe me, he's tried. Cole has a slightly pale complexion that gets even paler when he's afraid. Because of Cole's thinness, his face appears slightly bony and prominent.

Cole has somewhat short dark brown hair. In the winter his hair appears black, although if you look closely you can see that it is still just an extremely dark brown. Cole's hair grows relatively fast in the front, so his eyes are normally covered a little by his hair. Cole does nothing to keep his hair out of his eyes, although as a small child he used to. Cole stopped once he realized how idiotic it looked to have his entire forehead exposed.

Cole has pure brown eyes that are several shades lighter than his hair. It's rumored that a single glare from Cole's eyes can quiet a whole room, although he tries his best to dispel these rumors. He's never said that it isn't true, though. Cole's eyes also almost radiate intelligence, and no one could ever guess how short-sighted he is. Cole normally wears glasses, although from time to time you might see him wearing contacts or neither.

As for clothing, Cole's attire is rather plain. He wears a white T-shirt and leather jacket, as well as slightly faded jeans that have seen a lot of use. He wears black and crimson running shoes, and has a watch on his left wrist.

Personality;
Cole has a more... interesting personality than most, as you'll see.

Cole considers himself a bit of a loner, although he has met plenty of people more introverted than himself. He prefers the company of a book or his laptop to the company of a large group of people, and sometimes gets pretty short-tempered when in the middle of a large crowd, so be careful if you see him in public. Cole also has a bit of a silver tongue, and can manipulate people with words. However, this silver tongue turns to lead when Cole is afraid and acid when he's angry, giving the impression of three different personalities.

First, there's cunning, manipulative Cole Jacobson, modest and slightly charming, as well as mysterious. He generally stays away from crowds and stays calm in even the most dangerous situations. He's a good leader and pretty strategic for someone of his age, and can inspire confidence in those around him.

Second, there's quiet, quick-to-flee Cole. He generally tries to stay clear of any awkward situation and diverts attention from himself in any way possible, whether it's changing the subject or rushing into a different room for a few minutes. Because of this, Cole is considered slightly shady, always avoiding conversations when possible. Even when he has to talk, Cole tends to leave the actual talking to someone else, although he listens attentively.

Finally, there's bold, quick-tempered Cole. He gets carried away in conversations, which generally makes chitchat deteriorate slowly into an argument. This personality slightly enjoys conflict, and will listen in and laugh softly at any argument. This version of Cole is the rarest, as he tries to keep out of arguments of any kind.

Cole is mortally afraid of heights, although sometimes this fear drives him to explore the highest areas possible. Contradictory, I know. He is very noble, and will do anything to resolve most fights quickly. Cole has good leadership skills and is amazing at public speaking, but is, most of the time, too shy to let these two attributes show.

Cole has an American accent, seeing as the only reason he traveled to Hogwarts is because there weren't any Wizarding schools in the States.

Oh, yeah. A Wizard from the western hemisphere. That's the one thing no one ever mentioned in the books or movies, the possibility of any Wizards living in America. Come to think of it, did they ever even mention North America in any of the HP books? Not in my memory, although I could be wrong.

Appearance; Thane has a pale face with high pronounced cheekbones and dark hazelnut eyes. He has short brown hair and has a lean thin figure for his age and is considered quite toned amongst his fellow pupils. Thane is an average height for his age and he usually tends to wear average navy blue trousers and colourful trendy check shirts.

Personality; Thane is a loyal and comfortable friend and puts a lot of trust among his fellows. He is outgoing and tries to maintain a friendly atmosphere with all his fellow students. He is an outspoken boy and has a flair for improving himself. He wants to become a better Wizard. His confidence never wavers and Thane always enjoys a good laugh with his mates. However, when someone Thane loves is hurt or threatened, Thane pulls out his angry side and he will do anything to help them or revenge them. He keeps his friends very close to heart and regards his friend's enemies, as his own.

History; Thane comes from a comfortable family, two strong willed parents who love him a younger brother who looks up to him. Thane's family are very poor, and it was considered a near miracle that he managed to get all the equipment required for Hogwarts first hand, except for a few of his books which were second hand from a shop in Diagon Alley. Thane comes from a long string of Gryffindors, and hopes to join his family house as another proud student.

Pet/s; Brown Tawny Owl called Glint, as it has specks of bright golden brown feathers among its coat.

Unusual Abilities/Race; Thane has interests in becoming an Animagus.

Unusual Equipment; Thane possesses an adequate Thunderbolt broomstick, which was bought for him by a distant uncle upon hearing of his entry to Hogwarts. He also has in his possession an old magical silver key, which can open most doors and locks.

Appearance:



Joe and Josh stand tall for their age, and have a pale complexion. They both have messy black hair (though Joshes is approximately an inch longer) and bright, turquoise eyes. They both also have a thin, four-inch long scar on the side of their face (right for Joe, left for Josh) because they were born Siamese.

They usually wear black, sometimes “mixing-it-up” with blue’s, green’s and pinks. They’re never seen without a pair of fingerless gloves (style may vary). They each also have a silver chain around their neck that bears their family crest. It’s said to have magical properties. They wear them for good luck.

Personality: Joe and Josh can be described as nothing more than quirky. Being sarcastic at times, happy-go-lucky at others, and downright insane normally on a rare occasion, people generally don’t know what they’re thinking. They differ in several ways, however; Josh is the more protective and dominant, sticking up for Joe and anyone else whom he admires. He is also more brutal, retorting to violence quicker than Joe would. Joe, on the other hand, may appear harmless, but watch out; this rose has thorns. If something really gets on his nerves, even Josh, his temper will gain control and he will lash out.

Pet/s: They have four pets, which they tace care of between them. Sweep (cat), Poof (Hamster), Regal (Owl) and Sylrana (Snake).

Unusual Abilities/Race: Can speak parseltounge. Also have necromancer blood in them.

Unusual Equipment: Their mother’s diary from her time at Hogwarts.

Other: They like to read their textbooks when they have nothing better to do.

Appearance; Semper is fairly tall, and rather pale-skinned. He's rather thin and quite frankly frail, but he's incredibly agile even if he isn't gifted with incredible strength. Semper has a lithe figure, and his bones are rather prominent - mostly his cheekbones - and it gives him an almost aristocratic appearance. His hair is a light blonde colour that's just a bit shorter than shoulder-length, and fairly neat, although it has a habit of becoming quite ruffled when he has to move quickly or he becomes stressed. He doesn't have a visible fringe, though his hair doesn't fall in his eyes or some other such nonsense. Said eyes are a cool grey, and are probably his most memorable feature. They're fairly large, but he often prefers to keep them lidded so as not to draw unwanted attention to himself. His body is all sharp edges - he doesn't have any visible fat nor muscles. If one were to draw him it's unlikely there'd be any curved lines used whatsoever. It reflects his personality, to an extent. He literally cannot stoop - his head is always held high, and he looks down on people no matter who they are. His back is always straight, and his posture always has to be perfect. His mouth is nearly always curved down slightly in a grimace, a flat line on his face or a slight smirk - Semper doesn't show emotions easily, and even when he does they're still hard to distinguish. He is a rather good actor, after all. He knows how to wear a mask and act the part. Whenever he walks each step seems to be precise, each of his actions planned before time. Every time his feet hit the floor there will be a pronounced click as his (rather posh) shoes fall against the ground below him. He has a penchant for the dramatics.
Personality; Semper was brought up knowing that everyone could become corrupt given the right incentive, and that people were made to be manipulated. Semper is cunning and quick-witted, having realised at a young age that if he wasn't exactly athletic he better become intelligent, lest he be trodden on. He comes off as cold, and quite often cruel to people, mocking them for no apparent reason. His parents taught him how to convince people to do as he said, a skill that, when coupled with his surprising intellect, made him a force to be reckoned with. Semper doesn't really think of others as sentient beings - just toys - and treats them as such. He doesn't mind if people get hurt by his actions, so long as it means he can have his way. He is incredibly good at strategising, but rather stubborn, and insistent upon being overly cautious, refusing to act recklessly even if he is in grave danger. He doesn't trust people full stop, and people often dislike him for the way he ignores most everyone. He can be kind, when he has developed enough of a relationship with someone, but in his eyes they will never be his 'friends' - the best you can get with Semper is to become an 'ally'. He is a quick-thinker, but most everything he does relies on logic or fact. While he can be imaginative when forced he is not naturally creative, and it can be difficult to force him to think 'outside the box' if it seems illogical to. He's fast at nearly everything - quick on his feet, quick witted and quick to stereotype and make decisions about people. Most everything he feels about others is based on his first impressions of them as a person, and it's nigh impossible to change his views after he has decided them. He does not lose his temper easily, one should be pleased to note, and has a knack for staying calm in the most dangerous of situations. That being says he has a habit of immediately resorting to violence - he feels that the best way to get rid of a threat is to completely eradicate it.
Lennox is also untrustworthy. While he is an incredibly gifted actor he is compltely disloyal, and not at all adverse to stabbing people in the back if they give him reason to. He's also conceited - arrogant and full of himself. It makes him foolish - he readily believes that his ideas are the best, the most suitable, no matter the circumstances. He's completely self-reliant, independent to a fault. He has nothing to fall back on if everything goes wrong, but he somehow manages to convince himself he doesn't need others. He's sure he'll be perfectly fine on his own. He is darkly cynical, and almost everything he says is followed by a sarcastic remark or degrading insult.

House; Slytherin
Pet/s; Zephyr, a Runespoor/Ashwinder mix (it lacks the three heads of a normal Runespoor, instead only possessing the critical one, and is formed from the leftover ash of a magical fire (like an Ashwinder) but does not extinguish itself) and Gale, a Little Owl.
Unusual Abilities/Race; Parselmouth, Animagus-in-Training, Minor Wandless Magic Abilities.
Unusual Equipment; Owns a Firebolt 9013, and a bottomless trunk.
Other; Semper comes from a long line of distinguished purebloods; he has had everything he's ever wanted from a young age, and was tutored incessantly from the day he was born in all varieties of magic. Counteracting this the studying he did every day has led him to become conceited - while he could be considered vastly more skilled than other wizards his age he is likely far more easily fooled as well, as he will often become over-confident.

Sexuality: Heterosexual
Bloodline: Pureblood

Appearance: Abigor's high social ranking and pampered nature is made obvious with his appearance and attire. He has a tall, lean figure, with pale skin that gives him a very intimidating stature, cold, light blue eyes, and extremely blond, almost white hair. His outfit consists of a dark purple suit with intricate designs adorning the fabric, suit pants of the same color, a pair of black gloves with the Sanguis family crest, and black formal shoes. He can sometimes be seen with a black fedora.

Personality: Within Abigor lies a deceiving, self-serving, and highly competitive individual who is not above breaking rules to fulfill his own goals. Coming from a family with immense wealth and social status, he believes himself to be superior to most of the students he will see at Hogwarts, and will aim to prove it at every given opportunity. If he notices that someone has a talent that he does not, or manages to outclass him in some manner, he will seek to rectify it with utmost haste. Only for a few individuals does he have respect.

But he is not brash. Oh, far from it. He takes his time with his schemes, and even though his pride will not let him stand a loss at the hands of anyone else, he never lets himself do anything without careful thought and planning. Aside from that, he is very mature for his age, almost frighteningly so. He forms rivalries very often. He can be very flamboyant and theatrical. And, in spite of all of this, he can be a very social person. You just have to prove yourself worthy of his attention first.

Unusual Equipment: His gloves, a family heirloom handed down to him, have a built-in Wingardium Leviosa spell that allows him to telekinetically lift small or lightweight objects.
Other: He's next in line to take over the family business, currently a large trading company specializing in arcane artifacts.
