Thread: The End of Days *Start Up*

"What, should I fix it or not," Neil said, throwing the picture on the ground.

"Wha-" Archie gasps, a look of astonishment on his face. *He resisted my autograph. I need to think of a diversion, and quick!* he thinks. "Look behind you!" He shouts, and troes to swipe the gun.

Kirk turned round to look through the window behind him, and saw the insanely dressed man and the late-comer squabbling. He sighed to himself. The world is about to end, yet two people still have time for a row.
He looked back towards the battlefield, and noticed a large scoreboard above it on the opposite wall. However, it was different to the ones Kirk was familiar with from battling tournaments.
"What's that?" Kirk asked dully to Willis, nodding his head towards the scoreboard. Willis turned round with a surprised look on his face and turned to look at the scoreboard too.
"Ah. That's a contest scoreboard. Have you ever been to a Pokémon contest, lad?" he asked in his croaky voice.
Kirk shook his head.
"Well, in contests they use them in the secondary and final rounds, the battle stages. The matches are only a few minutes long, and have a point system." Willis explained. He paused, and pointed at the yellow arch beneath Clarke's face.
"Those are the points. Every time the opponent is hit, they lose points. The more power and style behind the attack, the more points they lose. Whoever has the least points at the end of the match loses, if their Pokémon havn't already been knocked out."
"In this instance, even if an opponent is losing, but somehow has more points than the opponent, they will win. It's the main pressure point in this match." he finished. He then smiled at Kirk, then waddled towards the front of the plinth where a panel with some buttons and dials on it.
Kirk thought that this would be an awesome match. Hypno sat next to him, kind of confused about what was going on.

A.D looked over to the squabling duo and decided to intervene. He tossed both balls into the air but only the Pokéball released it's Pokémon, which turned out to be an Aerodactyl, the other falling back into A.D's hand. Quick as lightning, the Fossil Pokémon swiped the device they were fighting over and returned to his master, 'handing' the device to him before landing next to him.

"You'll get it back once these matches are over," he told them, turning his attention back to the battle field and ignoring any arguements they decided to put forward.

((OOC: this is great.... XD))

Wayne looked at the arguing duo "SHUT UP ALREADY!!! WE COULD GET KILLED HERE AND YOU TWO HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO THAN ARGUE???" Wayne shouted. Idiots... Wayne looked at Alakazam, who he expected had some unhelping comment, but it was simply meditating. What? Someone had to shut them up... it telepathically agreed

((X-Scissor, me and Instrutilus kind of decided on a end result of our battle. we should still be able to do it with the point style thing but did you maybe already have an idea of who you wanted to win?))

Clarke was ready, standing there facing A.D. It was time to battle. He was an experienced coordinator aswell so he should stack up well against A.D. He grabbed two balls, placed in ball capsules, and threw the into the air.

Persian was the first out, burting out in an array of white lighting bolts. She looked magnificent and extremely powerful.

Gengar burst out it's ball; looking mysterious in it's clouds of dark gas.

They both were up for a fight.

((OOC: Actually, I was just going to see how things played out. I was going to give the win to whoever made themselves seem better. Now I don't have to make any decisions! Haha!))

Kirk slumped forwards into the back of the chair in front. Finally. He looked up to see Clarke's Pokémon. Not many people use Persians, he thought to himself. What will A.D. use? He'd already seen his Aerodactyl, so he presumed he'd be using that.
Willis touched the megaphone to his lips, and his voice became grand and powerful again.
"Ladies and gentlemen, may I welcome you to this battle, the battle that will decide who goes into the prestigous team of trainers who will rescue our fine region."
"On the red side, Clarke! On the blue side, A.D.! Trainers, release your Pokémon and FIGHT!" he roared.

With Aerodactyl out already, A.D tossed the Great Ball into the air, which Aerodactyl circled. The Great Ball deployed, releasing the Snorlax held inside, who then fell to the ground, gracefully landing on it's feet. Aerodactyl came down behind the Snorlax and gripped on to her back, giving the appearance of wings upon the Snorlax to Clarke.

A.D smirked. Aerodactyl and Snorlax always were show-offs, but the hell he was going to stop them. He looked to his opponent, confident he would provide an interesting battle, even though A.D wasn't going to be trying, only wanting to get this over with quickly.

"You move first," he called to Clarke.

"Gengar, go! Use Hypnosis." Clarke commanded. Gengar leviatated high and released a wave of red hypnotic energy onto his opponents.

Persian was commanded to use Assist, Clarke loved starting the match with a bit of randomness and unpredictability. A whirlpool was launched, it was Dewgongs. It was behind the hypnotic wave almost chasing it. If the hypnosis didn't hit, the whirlpool must.

"Aerodactyl, fly!" the Fossil Pokémon did as such, flying out the way of the waves of hypnosis and the whirlpool. Snorlax, instead, took the Hypnosis and was put to sleep instantly.

This worked to A.D's advantage, as he had two moves intended for such a case, and after the Whirlpool hit, he commanded "Sleep Talk," which Snorlax mumbled, before hopping to it's feet and using a random move...it ran forward at lightning speeds, using all it's body rammed Persian with such power it used up all Snorlax's energy. Snorlax was then hurt by the whirlpool aftereffects.

[Snorlax used Giga Impact.]

OoC; I'm assuming we're using a combination of animé and gameplay, where Whirlpool effects the Pokémon after it's move.

Edited for the new knowledge of Whirlpool stemming from Assist.

((OOC: Clarke's Persian used Assist which turned into Whirlpool, a move owned by her Dewgong. The move is completely legal. Play on.))

OoC: I though assist boosted the attack of the companion Pokémon. My mistake, I was thinking of Helping Hand.

Wayne watched the two battlers and their moves. So they start off with an attacking move of their type, then a random choice move. Interesting...

After standing totally still for a few seconds, Infernape begins to tug on his shirt with mild annoyance.
"Oh, shoot! Gotta go!" He says, running really fast. He gets to the gym in about 5 seconds.
"Rule 37:" He reads from the book. "an archeoligist is always on time, barring circumstances. Ooh, look, infernape, an aerodactyl!" He says to the fire pokemon.

As Kirk watched the Gengar, Persian and Aerodactyl brawling on the field, and as Snorlax slept lazily, sometimes getting up for a Giga Impact, he couldn't help but think he'd seen one of the challengers before.
Maybe that was why he was so drawn to the guy in the unique jacket. He had seen him somewhere before, but it seemed like a few years ago, since he could barely remember him.
