Kurt shrugged, and sat on the ground.
"If you say so..." he said. "But there is always the possibility of something spawning inside our shelter if we don't get any light up here. That is, if we make it long enough to get a shelter up."

“Oh... fine. I'll go with you. Happy?”

From one of my many conversations with That Guy:
"OOOOHHHHHHHH MARIE HAD A LITTLE LAMB—*ding* Good morning!"
"…DAFFAQ?"
"You could always dig," Steven said, as he continued to build the shelter. "It'll take a while to find anything, but it's safer than going into a cave."
"Fair point. I think I'll do that." Kurt said. He got out his shovel from his inventory, and started digging into the ground.
“Well, I prefer just looking for a bit of coal in the side of a mountain and mining it from there, but OK...” She jumped down into the hole Kurt had made.

Kurt kept digging downwards until he struck stone, upon which he brought out his pickaxe and continued digging.
The stone soon gave way to reveal a cave to his right. Rana remarked, “Wow, how lucky can you get?”

"Pretty lucky, I guess." Kurt said. "I'm gonna make myself a stone sword and pick before I go any further. There's probably going to be monsters down there."
“Hold it...” Rana stepped out into the cave. She could see light in the distance (either from lava or, possibly, a torch), and she could also hear someone singing, though she couldn't hear the words.

Kurt rolled his eyes, and followed Rana into the cave, also seeing the light.
"What do you think that light is?" he asked.
“I dunno, but I hear someone singing.” She started towards the light.

"Someone singing? So us three aren't the only ones here?" Kurt asked, and followed Rana.
“Don't think so.” As she got closer, the words got clearer; it was a digging song.
“I am a dwarf and I'm digging a hole, diggy diggy hole, I'm digging a hole...”

Kurt heard the song too, and nudged Rana's side.
"Hey, I think they're digging a hole." he said.
“No sh*t, Sherlock. And I think I recognize the song...” She looked around the corner. A half-naked dwarf with a horned helmet, orange hair and a beard was digging his way through the cave with an iron pickax, singing his song.
“I am a dwarf and I'm digging a hole, diggy diggy hole, I'm digging a hole!”
