Thread: Roleplaying Game Rules (As of November 15, 2012)

Roleplaying Game Rules (as of November 15, 2012):

• Authority- Staff (Like myself) > GMs (The people who create the RP, manage the RP, or both) > RPer OF AN RP. While the RP staff is just another RPer in the RPs that we choose to participate in, if we put our mod hats on, that supersedes any authority that the GM has. No exceptions. So, just because you're a GM on your own RP, does NOT mean that you can go in another and start telling people what to do. This also means that Rpers can’t go trying to boss GMs around either. This will earn you anywhere from Pointless Post to Flaming and Baiting.

• Limit of RPs: You are allowed to make up to five RPs. Anymore, and we will warn/infract under the “multiple posting” rule. So, if you have over 5 Rps that you’ve created, you can keep them. From now on, no more than 5 RPs. Private RPs with three or fewer participants do not count towards this limit.

• In order to participate in RPs, you need to fill out a “sign-up” form (the only exception would be if you’re doing a Private Rp with another user). It’s up to the GMs to make (reasonable) posting rules, and that it's up to their discretion.

• All Non-Pokémon RPs must go into the Non-Pokémon RP Subforum unless they are Private Rps. Then, they will go into the Private RP subfourms.

• OOC posting in RPs is up to the GM's discretion. If they wish to keep them out of the RP, they can make a thread for OOC discussion in the Metronome Forum.

• Remember, we have ratings for a reason. Don’t be posting explicit content of any kind. This means things such as rape, sodomy, etc. It is up to the GMs discretion on what is allowed. Also, in some cases, you will be infracted for inappropriate content. In severe cases, we will infract for Severe Inappropriate content and possible further actions will be taken.

• Is there this user that just doesn't quite get what you're telling him to do but you know he really does? Report the problematic posts, and the staff will handle accordingly. Depending on severity, it could be a Pointless Post infraction or a Flaming & Baiting infraction.

• The most important thing is to be nice to your fellow RPers! RPs thrive on cooperation, and if you have an issue with another RPer, you should contact the GM. The GM may then pass on the situation to the forum staff if they see the need for staff to step in. Conflict between players can ruin the experience for everyone involved as a result. If the tension is high enough, this can lead to F&B infractions.

Uhh...Can we like ask questions here? I'd assume so, seeing as you disn't lock the thread...So how do Private RPs fall under the max RP limit? And what about RPs that span more than one thread? Do they count as multiple RPs? And what of it's technically two RPs, but, like, they take place in the same world and interact a lot?

Private RPs count under the limit.

RPs that span more than one thread (if they are going concurrently) count as two.

Aw, man..... I guess it's time to shut down The Trainer's Heart and PMD: Explorers of Victory....... I don't see why this is going to help us any. It just means there'll soon be a resistance to the mods.

And what about serious RPers like me? If our RPs are forced to close, that means less people will visit the forum, and, eventually, it will become a wasteland. Like the Metronome Forum.

Actually, it says that RPs made before the change can stay.

Although...Is the limit really necessary? Who's to say someone can't manage five RPs at once? Some people just have a lot of time on their hands. And Private RPs don't even take that much time to run. With respect, why don't you folks just handle things on a case-by-case basis like it's always been?

Is it because GMs might not do their jobs well if they have too many RPs running? I've been here for a while now, and as far as I can tell, a GM's RP quality has only been detracted from due to the amount of RPs they were running a few times. GMs tend to have a pretty good idea of how many RPs they can handle.

It's a rule we have put in place. This is not to say it is permanent and we do take your thoughts into consideration.

And yes, RPs put into place before the rule change are not affected.

Does the limit only concern active RPs, or do RPs stop counting as one of your five once they are completed (or die, whichever comes first)?

If an RP dies or is completed, it doesn't count.

Also, we know what a dead RP looks like (and if you had one, then made a fifth, then it came back to life, we'll give you the benefit of the doubt) and we're not looking to penalize people.

We'll take a look at this rule over the coming weeks and adjust it if necessary.

I agree. If the issue is the forums getting spammed with too many RPs, we have a whole seperate category for PRPs, so it really shouldn't be an issue. And if the issue is GMs spreading themselves too thing, PRPs tend to not take as much effort as normal RPs, so that shouldn't be an issue either. And like I said, GMs tend to be pretty good about knowing their limits in terms of how many RPs they can manage.

Speaking of, what's with the limit anyway? It's not exactly clear the reason it's been put in place. It's unlikely it will even be an issue (It's pretty rare most people put up more than even three) but in that case, why have it anyway?

PRPs are usually between four people max, from what I've seen, and have no GM. They don't take anything to manage and are usually just between friends. So I'm not sure why they count towards the total number.

Sorry about that. ^^;; It's that, the RP Head has been busy lately and we've been trying to come up with a more flexible rule to go in it's place. :) We do realize it's a little too harsh, but there were some incidents that made us create the rule to begin with. Just expect to see the rule change within the next week.

...Don't you mean:

Staff>GM>RPer

Unless the RPers really are the highest authority.
