Thread: Region lock question

Can an american wii play japanese camecude games i asked on general question and they said ask here and i know the wii is region locked for wii games but what about for backwards compatibility games.

I know that you can play Japanese games on an American SNES, but when it comes to discs you can't get a different shape. xD Try looking on the game disc or case or wherever it says it for a box that says "NTSC" on it. If you can't find it, compare it to an American copy (Don't think it has to be the same game). If you can't find it on an American one, just try it; Gamecube games aren't really expensive now.

you can. as long as you use a Freeloader, which you buy from Datel, ive played Pokemon Colusseum in Japanese on my Wii with it with no prublems, but make sure y9u dont leave the memory card in the wii if you play an english game, or it'll get reformatted back to English
