All of the DS's have built in WiFi connectivity.
However, your problem doesn't seem to be with the DS but with your router.
Do you have a wireless router or are you just using standard broadband?
Because if you don't have a wireless router, as far as I'm aware the Nintendo WiFi Connector is your only option.

I have a wireless Belkin router and, once I configured it to WEP security settings, have had no problem with it at all.

You need a router with a WEP security key. Linksys works fine, I have an old one, they seem to work well.
