Still isn't very long, imo. I'd have rather it lasted longer. I'm not a big fan of Avatar, but I liked it enough.

The Last Airbender was only to last a book as well, but sheer popularity brought with it two more seasons. The same can happen here if fan demand is enough and the creators feel that they can't encompass everything within two seasons.

Besides, this series is about the bending/anti-bending schism, not the schism between the elements. Naming a book after another element would take away from that theme. The reason this book is called "Air" is because Korra has to learn the element, and possilbly because it was never used as a book title in the first series.

Just because an Avatar has mastered all forms of bending doesn't mean that they're close to accomplishing their goals, and Avatar Roku arguably left his life unfinished (yes, he technically gave most people a peaceful life, but he didn't totally stop the Fire Nation colonies from expanding).

Anyway, I think it's your loss you won't be sticking around for Korra. I also think it's unfortunate you're more concerned about quantity over quality. Everything about it looks very promising to me.

It makes a lot more sense when you connect the books to the seasons, something they've been doing since A:TLA. Judging by the leaves on the trees, Book 1: Air takes place in autumn, so I'm willing to bet they'll retain the elemental Book themes.

I never said quantity was more important than quality. Quality is certainly more important, I just prefer a show to be long instead of short. Trust me, I do NOT choose my shows based on just length. For example, I'm a huge fan of Storm Hawks, but it only got two seasons and 52 episodes while other shows I like have hundreds of episodes on average. I wish Storm Hawks would've lasted longer, but it was a good quality show and I could watch it forever.

This series doesn't look like it'll focus as much on mastering the elements as the previous did; the bender-nonbender revolution is likely to play a bigger role. Even though Korra's only got one element left to learn, I wouldn't assume that means there'll only be one book. They're shooting to be pretty different from the old Avatar while still retaining that original feeling so you never know :3

Oh god, @Feng, I just love your signature :P

But I think Tenzin is very interesting, because he's quite a spiritual person, and serious, he's definitely inherited at least some of Aang's antics, woohooing in the arena and all.
Mako and Bolin... I think Bolin is more the Sokka type, and Mako the Zuko type. I don't know, but for some reason I think Jinorra will play a bigger role in this series than it seems. Time will tell, I guess.

Erm, in the first episode they clearly said that Korra had yet to master the spiritual side of being the Avatar; being able to bend Earth, Water and Fire doesn't mean Air is the only thing she has to work on.

And because of her lack of spirituality she has not visited the spirit world nor experienced the Avatar state.

Btw, I've finally found out who these guys are in the background. It was puzzling because Tenzin and his children are the only living airbenders as descendants of Aang:

    They are Air Acolytes.
Monks and nuns that reside on Air Temple Island. Although not airbenders themselves, they carry on the teachings of the Air Nomads, their culture, and their traditions through practice.

BTW New interactive game on Nick website where you can explore the Korra Universe within Republic City. It's got a wealth of information and it's pretty well-done!

Argh, even the game redirects you to your countries' own nick site if you're not in NA xD

I was really looking forward to the information too.
