    Default favourite band names

Hello, I just thought it'd be cool to share band names I thought were cool, and to see what other bands names people like.

Don't just say the band, at least give some reasoning behind why you like it.

The Flaming Lips, I always thought was a cool name. It sounds like a throwback to the 60s psychedelic bands, and yet has there own little spin on it. What is a flaming lip? Nothing, but it sounds cool.

Bands that immediately spring to mind, as Mag said, The Flaming Lips, White Stripes, They Might Be Giants, The Dandy Warhols, Be Your Own Pet, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Yeah Yeah Yeahs, to name a few.

For me, the more odd and nonsensical the cooler it sounds.

Gojira (really, really good death metal band from France, check 'em out, they're one of my favorites) is already a pretty kick-ass name for a band, but then you realize that their lyrics are typically concerned with mankind's mistreatment of the planet they live on, which is the whole reason Gojira - Western audiences know it better as Godzilla - exists... they couldn't have chosen a better name. Well, except maybe Godzilla, but they got in trouble when they actually tried that early on, so they changed it to the original Japanese name of the monster. I personally think it would've been cooler if they were able to keep the more European-sounding name since they are from Europe, but with lyrics as global in scope as theirs, it doesn't really matter.

Mastodon is another metal band with a cool name, just sounds effortlessly great. Mastodon.
Cannibal Ox, rap duo, but hell it's still a cool name. Can you imagine an actual cannibal ox? That's mildly terrifying.
Death is, at they very least, the most apt metal band name ever.
Public Enemy is a good one, not amazing but suitable for their politically charged lyrics.

Barenaked Ladies- it's amusing and makes me smile when I actually picture the band.
Dire Straits- just a plain cool name.

Goblins and Saurus and Cheetaurs, oh my!

4 Non Blondes. Why describe yourself as brunette when you can be a non-blonde?
Fun. - They're badass enough to put a period in their band name.
Emily's Sassy Lime - There's no words in describing how funny this name sounds.
Helga: Look, Phoebe you gotta snap out of this. I mean, criminy, it's not like it's the first time you ever farted. Heck, when you sleepover you do it all the time. You rip 'em all night long, they stink to high heaven. It's all I can do to keep from passing out.
    Phoebe: Just get out.

The Cab. I stumbled upon one of their songs while derping around youtube, and got totally hooked on Angel with a Shotgun, High Hopes in Velvet Ropes, and Lovesick Fool.

As for their name, it sounds simple and easy. Also, it sounds as if they're delivering music to wherever people want it :3

Tenacious D (obviously) because it is almost completely nonsensical, probably an innuendo and "based on a collective assmark"
De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig - a Dutch electronic hiphop group. The name means "kids these days", like the standard phrase older people use to express their discontent with young adults, often accompanied by a slight, slow shake of the head and a somewhat furrowed brow
Alestorm - a storm of beer. Nuff said

No one can destroy the Metal
