Is this the end of the beginning?
Or the beginning of the end?

So, when I prefer more extreme metal genres, am I not invited?
(not saying the above mntioned are bad, just personal preference :D)

I mostly like progressive metal, myself. Symphony X, Dream Theater, Mastodon. I like Judas Priest, though, so I think I'll be tolerated. :I

So this is for all metal in general? Good, 'cause I don't think Rage Against the Machine or Mastodon are "classic". :I

Sweet. In that case, has anyone here listened to either of those two?

I used to be a huge metal head, nowadays I have a passing interest. The only metal bands I actually own anything by are Megadeth, Boris, Rage Against the Machine and Black Sabbath.

Outside of MP3s, I just have one CD by Mastodon and another by Rage Against the Machine.

Spare a guy fifteen bucks to buy a Symphony X CD? :c

You can probably get any album cheaper on amazon if you are willing to buy used. I've bought albums for 1p plus postage and packaging that have arrived in really, really good condition.

Plus the stores I go to usually don't carry everything I want, so I think Amazon is a good idea, yeah.

Oh, and thinking of "classic" metal reminds me of Ghost. I know I've convinced Fab to give them a try, but I was wondering if anyone else was familiar with them. They're a very recent but very old-fashioned-sounding heavy metal quintet from Sweden.

I listened to one song by Ghost, the name escapes me, and I thought it was quite enjoyable. Very good vocalist. I think being so into metal when I was younger has allowed me to appreciate every other genre of music - I'm really into jazz and stuff.

Yeah give amazon a go, if you get sent something broken the independent sellers will usually take your word for it and give you a refund. I've bought so may albums of amazon, used or brand new, and I think I've only had two that were unplayable. I got a refund for both anyway.

I actually haven't listened to Ghost yet. I keep wanting to, but I forget.

I've bought a few off of Amazon as well, and they've all worked perfectly.
