Now, now, there's absolutely no fun in thinking of obscure ideas that are supposed to be secrets when they don't remain secret. Then again... eh. XD I sorta was debating forfeiting, 'cause going through both battles and earning my (obligatory) third place participation prize would earn me a rental at medium rank and would take four hours 'r something, in total. Whereas forfeiting would earn me... a rental. At medium rank. And it would save me a ton of time. Then I decided it would be amusing to actually try battling, so I sorta retracted that plan. There was a brief moment, however, where two of us were going to forfeit at the same time while everyone was tied. Ya know, because it's just fun that way. WELL. TL;DR: I'll find Pidge and Roulette on AIM sometime this week and die. No worries.
No idea what the second part is. Well, sorta have a hunch, but... no idea.
I don't intend to bash Chainy, however, but I'm not too much of a fan of the whole restarting thing. Yeah, it was unexpected that we tied. Last round sorta didn't go as planned ('cept for Pidge's utter demolition of my team... :>). It might sound a bit rude 'r something, but I don't think it's fair that we rebattle. Yes, I'll do it anyways, but I'll voice my complain here 'cause I saw everyone else do it. I managed to scrape my win against Roulette through luck. Not hax, luck, but luck in that I tried some of the stupidest and most obscure strategies that I could think of with a mono-fire team vs a mono-water, and I was lucky enough that it actually worked. Point being, said stupid and obscure strategies aren't going to work at all this time around, because I can't exactly pull something like an Absorb Bulb Chandelure out of my hand every time and be like "HEYLOOKANABSORBBULBCHANDELUREBETCHADIDNTSEETHISONECOMINGNOWDIESWAMPERT". 'cause frankly, next time I try anything along those lines, people, namely Roulette, will see it coming. So, yeah, it sorta seemed like a way to save time by forfeiting and whatnot, 'cause the outcome seems like it'll be the same. "Kai, u dum, make new strategy and get over it," someone is going to say. Well, yeah. Yeah, I should. As a gym leader, I shouldn't rely on one stupid gambit to win, and I shouldn't complain about it when my gambit becomes invalidated. So no, I really don't have much of a right to complain here. BUT I DO THINK IT'S UNFAIR. CAN I THROW THAT OUT HERE? JUST A BIT?
Everyone is so surprised when I suck less. I love it. <3
I agree with you, Kai. I really really do not like the idea of the round being redone. Roulette beating Pidge was pretty cool, and there was your astounding Fire over Water win. Both of these are probably unfortunately going to be overshadowed by the results of this round, and that's not something I want at all. It's a pity that this outcome may result in bad feelings about the Gym Tourney - God knows it got off to a shaky start, and while there are never any guarantees about anything in the URPG a negative occurrence like this may kill it off altogether, which I'm sure many of us do not want.
However, I consulted with a couple people as to what to do, and the only option offered to me was the one I took - re-do the round. I've been scouring my brains, and this remains the only possible outcome I can see, bar one. If it's acceptable to all of you three finalists, I'm happy to declare a three-way win and give you all a Hard-level Pokemon and two EMs or something. Pending a better solution, there's nothing really else I can do.
If anyone has any ideas at all, please come and talk to me or leave me a message. I'd really hoped that the first tournament I ran would have a much neater run than what it did >_>;

How is it not fair that the round be redone? If they all tied then either they all win (can't we all be winners) or they all have to do the round over. Doesn't seem that complicated. By some odd chance this were to happen again, do what someone suggested and (on the redo) go by how many Pokemon they have left.
How about we just vote on a winner!!!! =D
There's one very probable scenario that will occur if that happens which I'd like to avoid, so thanks but no thanks =P
@Pidge, @Kai-Mei, @Roulette - Directly asking you guys, three way tie or continue with the round? No answer will be taken as "continue". You will still be paid for any battles conducted this round.

I'll continue, both 'cause it's for enjoyment anyways and I don't want to be the one who ruins the system. And because a certain someone will probably whine about me some more behind my back if I don't. Er. I mean. CLOUDS. YES. CLOUDS. I LIKE THEM. ^.^

Okay, so with the final round finally having come to an end, we have our winners.
In third place is Roulette, leader of Navel Gym! He wins either a Shellder or a Tentacool for his fine battling.
In second place is Kai-Mei, leader of Lavaridge Gym! She wins a Torkoal, the last rental Pokemon on her roster!
In first place is Pidge, leader of Fortree Gym! He wins a Flying-type Pokemon of his choice with any three TMs on it, unless he has one of every Flying-typed Pokemon, in which case he can choose one of any catchable Pokemon!
Congratulations to our three placers, and thanks to everyone who battled in this tournament. Please post in here to claim your prizes.

Uh, claiming Tentacool I guess? I thought when people didn't battle it was based more on activity to find a winner.
The people I talked to about it seemed to think that previous result trumps activity.
EDIT: Someone told me that activity is more important, so Roulette gets 2nd and Kai gets 3rd, which also means prizes are different. Seeing as Kai's only rent is Torkoal, even though it's not Medium-rank, she can still claim it.

Instead claiming Frillish, thanks again and sorry for confusion.
I'll take Rotom-S with Protect, Thunder, and Thunderbolt.

Uh. Sorry. I didn't see the deadline, and then school hit like a truck. ._. AT LEAST IT'S ALL FIXED NOW, THOUGH. XD
Claiming my precioussss Torkoal. Thanks for running this. ^.^
A lot of professional tournaments would gives byes in the first round, so that there are NO BYES in later rounds. It doesn't make any sense at all if, say, there's a bye in the semi-final.
Marth's tourney was the best tourney, because he did this and didn't back down because everyone moaned. It's the best thing to happen, otherwise you've got byes left, right and centre throughout the tournament.
EDIT: Herp, didn't realise this was a few days completed. Ah well.
