The Pokemon stood on the battlefield, staring at each other. The crowd looks on in anticipation.

"You have first move." I said to my opponent.

"If that's what you want," Dianne said, smiling. She pointed toward Momo, trying to maximize the movement's dramatic flare. "Storm, hit with Thunder!"

On the battlefield, Storm howled, conjuring dark stormclouds in the sky. There was no sign of rain falling, but a single massive bolt of lightning shot from the cloud toward the ground.

I looked at the Thunder and whimpered. Before it struck Togetic, I yelled out my command to my Pokemon.

"Use Metronome, Momo!"

My Pokemon obeyed. He stood still and prepared to use the mystery move.

"Oh yes." I said as the thunder hit near, but not at the concentrating Togetic. A dark ball flew from Momo's mouth and circled the Jolteon, making his eye dark and dizzy.

"Momo, try your luck again. Another Metronome!" I yelled, and my now more confident Pokemon concentrated again.

Storm shook his head back and forth, trying to clear his vision. Something was wrong with him-- what was this? Burn? Paralysis?

Oh yeah, poison. He was poisoned. In that case, better end the battle quickly.

Storm could hear Dianne shouting something behind him, but he couldn't make out her words, so he simply continued with the best strategy he had-- call some Thunder and hope for the best.

"Momo! Use Wish!" I yelled at my Pokemon, lying on the ground after a harsh blow fro Thunder and a exerting Rolling Kick. Momo forced himself up before chanting something, and stars surrounded him, preparing to heal him.

"One more hit, Storm! That's all I need!" Dianne called, though she wasn't sure that her Pokemon would listen to her, or even understand her. He certainly didn't look it-- he was out there running around in circles, acting like he had seen a ghost.

Oh well.

"Thunder Fang!" she shouted, and watched in dismay as running in circles turned into running in figure-eights. Maybe he'd actually find his opponent, at some point?

I flung out my next Pokeball which reveal Mimi. (Vaporeon/F/Water Absorb)
She stared in dismay at the sight of an electric Pokemon, quite sure she has to battle it.
"Hydro Pump, Mimi!" I shouted, and she steadied herself before a huge torrent of water came out from her mouth.

The flash of Mimi's Pokeball temporarily blinded Storm, but when his eyesight cleared, so did his mind. He could clearly see the Pokemon in front of him, and he knew what he was supposed to do.

"Discharge!" came the order, and Storm barked an affirmative, before letting a wave of electricity flow from his body and ripple across the field.
