Ross steps into the arena with Tabuz (Golbat, M, Inner Focus) tagging along right beside him. He and Tabuz have both grown a lot since their first battle against Jathan, and today their hope is to leave as victors.

"Ready, Tabuz?" Ross asks his partner pokemon. Tabuz nods and lets out a cheer, ready and raring for the battle.

Golbat, M, Inner Focus

I walked out into the arena, and saw a Golbat flying there. Tabuz must have evolved.

I shivered. I wasn't afraid of much, but there was one Pokemon I was DEFINITELY afraid of, and that was Golbat. The darn things always swamped me whenever I went inside caves.

"Good to see you again!" I called out to Ross as I released Kirlia from his PokeBall.

Kirlia trilled his greetings as well. I crouched next to Kirlia so I could talk to him without Ross overhearing our plans.

"Okay, remember that Golbat is a hax user," I said. "We'll just have to try and out-hax him."

Kirlia nodded his agreement. He walked out to the middle of the field.

"Okay, Kirlia, use Hypnosis!" I called out.

"You, too!" Ross calls back to Jathan. Then, upon seeing his Ralts, now evolved into a Kirlia, he smiles. 'Looks like they've grown up a bit too.' he thinks.

Watching Jathan crouch down and whisper to Kirlia, Ross remembers the move that beat him last time. Speaking to Tabuz, he says, "alright Tabuz, keep a watch out for it's Psychic. Try to dodge it, if you can."

Tabuz nods and then Jathan calls his first attack: Hypnosis.

"Dodge it, Tabuz, and then use Confuse Ray!" Ross calls to his Golbat.

Damn, the Hypnosis missed. I thought it would, but it was worth a chance.

Furthermore, Kirlia was confused. This could go bad very easily.

"Kirlia, use Psychic!" I yelled.

'Alright! It's confused now!' Ross thinks. He doesn't want to get too cocky, but he is encouraged by the results of the first round.

Jathan yells to his Kirlia to use Psychic and Ross calls his attack, too. "Alright, Tabuz, watch out! Dodge its Psychic and then use Bite!"

Golbat, M, Inner Focus

Golbat uses Bite. No flinch.
Kirlia is confused. Kirlia snapped out of confusion. Kirlia uses Psychic. No drop.

"Damn!" I swore. Golbat had caused massive damage to Kirlia.

There wasn't really anything I could do.

"Kirlia, try to dodge and use Psychic again!" I called.

'wow! it's out of confusion already?' Ross thinks, then, out loud: "Doesn't matter. Tabuz, finish it with another Bite!"

I returned Kirlia to his ball, shaking my head.

"Good game!" I called. "Tabuz has truly grown into his strength. We will have to duel again."
