OOC: Fairly sure that Ralts is classified as a 'Basic'.

I walked out into the stadium and saw my opponent already standing there. He hadn't yet released a Pokemon, but that was okay, I only had one anyway.

"Ralts, get ready to fight!" I said, throwing his PokeBall out into the arena.

The ball gracefully arced halfway out into the arena, and then released Ralts in a flash of red light.

Ralts chirruped, ready to duel.

((Yeah, it is))

Dianne took her place on the field, removing a single Pokeball from her pack. The opponent that had accepted her challenge stood on the other side, his Ralts between the two trainers. Dianne loved basic Pokemon battles; the diminutive Pokemon had a charm that simply wasn't present in their fully-evolved forms.

"Aurora, I choose you!" Dianne called, throwing her Pokeball forward. Her Shellder appeared in a flash of red light, marking the beginning of the battle.

"Start off with Ice Beam, Aurora!"

Jathan saw the small Shellfish Pokemon, and he knew that hoping for his first battle to be a win was not out of the question.

He also knew that there were a few status buffs he should probably utilize before the battle got out of hand, but he wanted to know how much damage Ralts could deal out before he got fancy.

"Ralts, use Magical Leaf!"

Dianne winced, not having realized that a psychic-type Pokemon would know grass moves. "Don't give up, Aurora!" she called, hoping that the little Shellder could endure another hit. "Use one more Ice Beam!"

"Brine!" Dianne ordered, hoping that, against all odds, Aurora would manage to land an attack before the Ralts did. It was a close enough battle that the winner would be determined by the next hit. Barely, Dianne resisted the childish urge to cross her fingers.

I watched, slightly disappointed, as the Shellder managed to avoid fainting. I also knew that Ralts wasn't far off either.

"Ralts, the next move wins this!" I yells. "Quickly, use Magical Leaf to finish this battle!"

Dianne recalled Aurora, clipping the Pokeball in its place at her waist. She let out a breath-- she hadn't realized that she was holding it during the last phase of the battle-- and smiled. "Good game." She nodded to the referee, and offered a handshake to Jathan.

I sighed with disappointment as I recalled Ralts, but I knew that he had tried his best.

"Good fight," I replied.
