    OOC: I couldn't really tell what you were doing, so I just assumed you don't want to battle it and rolled the escape. It worked, btw.

    ~~~~~
    "Am I a cute Pokemon magnet?" Jake cried in annoyance. I knew how he felt, but I didn't have much sympathy for him - not only had he run across a Munchlax, one of the rarest Pokemon in all of the National Park, he'd turned down a Tauros which were quite rare too. He waded into the pond and picked up the Togepi, which looked up at him with a surprised look on its face. Jake sloshed back out of the pond, and the Togepi laughed, spraying all over the Trainer. I couldnt stop myself from chuckling a little bit.
    "We should help this little guy. Let's find his parents," Jake said.
    "Alright, but they won't be too far away," I said. "They wouldn't go too far from their child."
    I cast a quick look around the pond - I couldn't see any Togetic or Togekiss around here, but there had to be at least one. It wasn't up to me to do anything, though - Jake would have to take the lead to find the Togepi's parent, not me. Ranger regulations said I were to affect the environment as little as possible.
    OOC: LOL. I was going for befriending it. This works too.
    "Alright, but they won't be too far away. They wouldn't go too far from their child," Chainy responded and looked at me expectantly. I stood up with the Togepi in my hands and looked around. I never understood how Togepi were always found in the Gardens, yet their evolutions were found in the Outer Heaven.
    Since I was prohibited from leaving the Gardens, I thought about the Pokemon that were located in this area. What Pokemon would be capable of caring for a baby until its mother showed up without eating, crushing, strangling, squishing, spraying acid on, or poisoning it. Hmmm...
    Of course! I turned to Chainy and asked,
    "Is there a place where Chansey or Blissey like to particularly hang out?"
    Jake cast a look around, not forgetting to search the sky. It was quite strange that Togepi were found in the Gardens, considering that both Togekiss and Togetic were found in Outer Heaven. I was about to suggest we just move onwards and leave the Togepi behind when I heard some more splashing. This was a bit more violent than the playful splashing of the Togepi, though. I led Jake around the edge of the pond, turning a corner.
    A large green Pokemon was shooting jets of water at a Blissey and a Chansey, both of which were cowering behind some rocks. The attacking Pokemon had a pink frill of sorts, which wriggled as the water erupted from the black maw. It was a Cradily, a fairly rare Fossil Pokemon. It appeared to be enjoying the distress it was causing the two Normal-types.
    I wanted to jump in and rescue them, but I couldn't. As a Ranger, I wasn't allowed to help out any of the Pokemon in the Park, but I could certainly hope that Jake would fight the Cradily off for the Blissey and the Chansey.
    As I searched the skies briefly while Chainy considered the answer to my question, some loud splashes resounded from around the corner of the greenery. This splashing sounded violent, like a fireman's hose on rock. Intertwined with the sound of the water was soft, delicate cries.
    I looked at Chainy and then led the way around the turn in the bank. A large Cradily was anchored to a log in the middle of the stream and was enjoying terrorizing some Pokemon hiding behind some rocks by the opposite bank. Since, the Cradily was transfixed on the opposite shore, it didn't notice us approach. I tried to spy the Pokemon behind the rocks. I caught a flash of pink frill poking out the side of the rock.
    Blissey! I thought excitedly. I looked down at the Togepi. It looked a bit concerned at the Cradily, slightly scared even. However, a small seed of anger and defiance displayed subtly on its face. Hmm, maybe this Pokemon wasn't as young as I thought. I shifted it to one arm and grabbed both Pokeballs on my belt.
    I threw them into the air and my two Pokemon appeared in a flash of bright red light. I pointed at the Cradily and said,
    "Let's save those two Pokemon. Saline hit 'em with a Flash Cannon and Bambi, let's try for another Inferno!"
    Saline was looking a little tired and her jittery movements indicated that she was still paralyzed. However, she closed her eyes nonetheless and began to pull in stray fragments of light from the atmosphere. Globules of pure silver glittered from the air into her glowing blue and yellow accents. They shone chrome and rainbow, everything that implied light was captured in her body.
    Bambi was acting faster as he was not paralyzed. Still, Inferno was a difficult move to perform. His accents were glowing as well, but for him, they were the red ones on his belly and snout. They looked like embers in a fire being blown on methodically. Pulsing slightly, the waves of heat began to reach me from a good distance away, an it was as a furnace is. Inferno was an extremely powerful fire attack and was extremely hot as a result.
    I looked back down at the Togepi whose expression had grown to an utter glare. I was a bit surprised. I muttered at it,
    "You know, if youd like you can use something too." It didn't look at me, but I could tell that it had heard.
    I glanced up at the Cradily to see how it would handle the attacks that I had thrown at it...
    I was happy to notice that Jake apparently intended to fight off the Cradily and rescue the Blissey and Chansey. I hated not being able to help Pokemon in distress - in fact, I often did sometimes when it was a really small case. I often rescued young Pokemon who wouldn't have survived on their own and raised them until they were old enough to go with a Trainer, despite this being against the rules.
    Jake pulled out both of his Poke Balls, and alarms flashed in my head. He threw them into the air, and a red burst of light revealed both of his Pokemon.
    "Let's save those two Pokemon. Saline hit 'em with a Flash Cannon and Bambi, let's try for another Inferno!" Jake called.
    Acting quickly, I sent a message to Dual through our mind link. Stop that Flash Cannon with a Protect Screen! I ordered. Trainers were only able to use one Pokemon at a time in the Park, excepting Double Battles, as a matter of fairness. One of the more problematic issues was Trainers ganging up on Wild Pokemon, and I couldn't let that happen.
    My Gallade slid forward, being careful to duck under the charging Inferno attack from the Houndoom. I decided to block the Flash Cannon instead of the Inferno for multiple reasons: Bambi probably had a better shot at taking down the Cradily, the Inferno would hurt it more, and the Flash Cannon wasn't as powerful so it would be easier for Dual to stop.
    Dual's movement ceased when he was in front of the Empoleon. He raised his arms in front of him, and three different lights began expanding just off of his hands. Protect Screen was a defensive ability we had both worked on, utilising many of Dual's protective moves. First he puts up a Reflect, to stop physical projectiles. He then raises a Light Screen to stop special attacks, and fuses the two screens together with the incredible defensive power of his Protect. The multicoloured lights swirled and grew and fused together, becoming a square of blazing bright whiteness hovering solidly between Saline and Dual.
    The Flash Cannon shot out before the Inferno, smashing into the Protect Screen. The silvery light-based attack raged against the technique for a couple seconds, but soon winked out. I took the opportunity to step forward and talk to Jake.
    "Don't forget that battles in the Park are one on one," I said. "You might as well recall one of your Pokemon."
    The second I finished talking, the huge Inferno attack blasted out from Bambi's mouth. It expanded as it flew towards the Cradily, becoming almost as big as a Fire Blast. I could feel the heat waves coming off it, and I knew Dual could too because he flinched as it roared past him.
    I don't know what tipped the Cradily off - it was either the sound or heat. Whatever it was, the Fossil Pokemon turned on its log and saw the massive fire attack coming its way. It began to glow pink. I thought it was attempting to Protect itself, but I heard a burbling cry of pain as the attack connected. The log beneath the Cradily began to disintegrate, but not before the Wild Pokemon retaliated. A beam of pink light blasted out from the fireball, pushing the air aside and causing small flurries of flame. It smashed into Bambi, knocking him over. He whined a little bit, but got back onto his feet, still able to battle.
    When the fireball had cleared, the log had completely gone. I thought the Cradily might have run away already, but then it slowly crawled up from the water onto the edge of land, ready to do battle. I was pretty sure that it had taken a lot of damage, though.
    OOC: BUT IT'S EVIL. IT MUST DIE AT ANY COST. YOU MONSTER.
    The attack had gone off without a kink. The flames erupted gloriously from his maw and enveloped the Cradily in plumes of molten firepower. As the attack hit, though, the Cradily began to glow pink and emit a bright, metallic hum, almost like the crossing of swords. Just as the Inferno hit and cries rang out within, a beam of dazzlingly powerful light emerged from the chaos, splitting through the air like a ray of sun on a cloudy day. It sailed through the air and smashed directly into Bambi, throwing him back hard.
    A whine escaped his mouth, but only reactively. As soon as he was able, he returned to his feet with a snarl. I shouted out, "Are you okay?" but he responded only with a growl and a sneer at the Cradily. But I could see past the bravado that I had dealt with all these years. He was swaying slightly and was definitely close to fainting. He was not revealing the pain that the attack was causing. I decided to let him power through. If he was motivated, I had a revival herb just in case, and this was justice.
    “C’mon, Bambi! Let’s give it our all with another Inferno!” Bambi took less time to charge this time. He allowed a mere ten seconds for the red spots on his belly and snout to glow in preparation. As a result, the enourmous plume of heat that exited his body was barely any flame at all. A black swath of air flooded the surroundings and made me chocke. It was like a sweatlodge, only with small fragments of rock in the air. My insides itched and burned like crazy. I heard Chainy hacking and coughing behind me. I didn’t know if the smoke had reached the Cradily, but if it had, it would definitely hurt it as well.
    “Mist!” I choked out hoarsely, hoping desperately that Saline would both hear me and be capable of performing the given move before Chainy and I choked to death...
    "Are you okay?" Jake asked Bambi, sounding worried. Bambi responded with a snarl. I knew that Bambi was telling his Trainer that he was fine, but I also knew he was lying - the Houndoom wouldn't be able to take much more punishment. I also knew that it probably wouldn't stand down from this fight. I could tell from the look in Jake's eyes that he knew this too.
    “C’mon, Bambi! Let’s give it our all with another Inferno!” he said, apparently deciding to get in some hard hits.
    Bambi started charging the attack, but something went wrong. He released it too soon, and black smoke blew out all around out as a much thinner stream of fire boiled towards the Cradily. I started coughing from the smoke, and I quickly covered my mouth with the collar of my coat. Just before I lost sight of the Fossil Pokemon, I saw the fire strike the Cradily, rocking it backwards, but not over. It must have the Suction Cups Ability, like most Cradily.
    I was about to order my Gallade to do something about the smoke when I heard Jake croak something. Suddenly, a waft of cool air blew through the smog cloud, slicing it into chunks and carrying the pieces away. I smiled - I'd recognise the feel of Mist anywhere - I'd been covered in the stuff not half an hour ago.
    The smokescreen dropped just in time for me to see three rocks covered in a glowing blue aura flying towards Houndoom. They were all about the size of a child. Luckily, one of them flew straight over the Fire type, but the other two hit him. The first one stubbed his toes, and the other knocked him over. Bambi started coughing on the ground, but wasn't down yet. He sure wasn't knocked out, though.
    As I felt the Mist cleaved through the toxic air and they canceled out, I saw the Cradily looking a bit weatherworn. I guess Bambi had done his work well, even if the mistake had caused somewhat of a misfire. However, ater the immediate impression of slacking effort, the Cradily lashed out, sending three large, glowing rocks towards Bambi. The tree objects, each no smaller than a microwave, soared through the air in a vertical pattern. The first barely missed Bambi's head, the secondsmashed straight into his forefeet, and the third knocked into his midsection.
    Now, although my Houndoom was persisntent in not letting others know how hurt he was, if he couldn't help it, it was inevitable. Still, as he took his sweet time struggling to his feet, I knew he was concealing pain, even at such a dire and quite obviously dangerous moment. I knew it would befruitless to ask him to step down, so I let out one last order, hoping somewhere in the back of my mind that I could allow him to sleep peacefully for the first time in this whole run.
    "Let's let out a Thunder Fang ,buddy! Focus less on damage and more on paralyzing it!" His teeth began to spark and flash immediatelly. With enormous effort, he willed ambient electric forces in the surrounding envoronment as well as in his internal stasis to congregate and multiply at his mout. Fizzles of energy bounded and overflowed from his mouth as he meticulously prepared for the precipice. Finally, he released razorsharp rays of piercing, neon yellow at the Cradily. I noticed a vicious snarl of triumphance and a matching gaze escape from hisstature as the attack made its way towards the target...
    OOC: Just wondering, are you still just trying to beat this ting off, or are you intending to capture it?
    ~~~~~

    Bambi slowly got onto his feet - he could barely keep himself up, but like most Houndoom, he'd go down fighting or not at all.

    "Let's let out a Thunder Fang, buddy! Focus less on damage and more on paralyzing it!"

    Bambi growled, and began charging the attack. Small sparks of electricity fell out of his mouth as a yellow glow expanded, and when it was covering his entire muscle, he ran clumsily towards the Cradily. When he'd got half way he opened his mouth and the Thunder Fang shot forwards like a javelin. I nodded approval - it took lots of skill and training to make a projectile attack out of one of the Elemental Fangs.

    The Thunder Fang struck the Cradily, and the electrical lines began to crawl over its plant-like body. It seemed to slow down a bit, perhaps even becoming paralyzed. That didn't stop its next attack, though. It opened its mouth wide, and a rolling ball of purple grew inside its large black maw. When the Sludge Bomb attack was fully formed, the Cradily launched it into the air with a toss of its head. It arced gracefully through the air like a mortar, and it exploded right on top of Bambi. The Houndoom howled once, and then collapsed on the ground, fainted.

    "You'd best send Saline in," I said to Jake. "Either that, or use that Revival Herb - it'll get Bambi back up to full strength inside ten seconds. Strongest damn stuff I've ever seen."

    OOC: I'm trying to kill it.

    The arc of electricity managed to connect, absorbing into the Cradily's body. It transformed into smaller, more focused jolts and they danced cruelly all over the Cradily's rough skin. For a moment, the Cradily was incapacitated; it seemed stock still and unable to attack. However, it soon opened its maw to reveal a bubbling, purple goo that indicated a harsh poison attack. It frothed and gurgled ominously in preparation. I grimaced.

    The goo reached climax and spewed forcefully in my direction. It smashed straight into Bambi and and sizzled with dark smoke frothing off of it. Bambi was clearly down for the count. I somberly took out his Poke Ball andrecalled him.

    "You'd best send Saline in. Either that, or use that Revival Herb - it'll get Bambi back up to full strength inside ten seconds. Strongest damn stuff I've ever seen," Chainy commented to me. I smiled offhandedly and looked up at him.

    "I think I'll do both, actually." I turned to face Saline. She looked confident, but a little shaken from the smoke in the last turn. She looked back at me and nodded.

    "Let's go for a Flash Cannon!" I shouted, and she began to prepare. Just like before, her body glowed along the endowed strips. Amorphous globules of light appeared from nowhere and integrated with her skin, creating a dazzling pulsating effect. The light dazzled faster and faster until it was completely charged. She opened her mouth and let forth a giant stream of silvery substance that issued persisnently at the Cradily.

    "I think I'll do both, actually," he replied as he looked at his Empoleon. "Let's go for a Flash Cannon!"

    Saline nodded, and white light began to gather along the edges of her flippers and body, flowing up to her beak. When the light was almost blinding, her mouth opened and a smooth beam of silver light shot towards the Cradily. The Flash Cannon hit it easily in the chest, and the Cradily screeched in pain. Luckily, it was weak against Steel attacks, and Saline was Steel-typed as well.

    The Cradily decided it wasn't going to put up with any more pain. It burbled angrily in the direction of the hiding Normal-types, swinging its head around to do before, before slowly crawling off into the water. I kept an eye on it with the heat-sensor mode of my visor - it crawled down into the deepest part of the pond and stayed there. It wasn't coming back up any time soon.

    "Good job," I said to Jake, and we both ran over to Bambi. Jake pulled out the Revival Herb and crushed it between his fingers, releasing the sharp scent. I shyed away from it automatically - it brought tears to my eyes and felt like I was smelling knives. It had a good effect on Bambi, though - the Houndoom literally jumped back onto his feet. He took a look around, a bit confused, but licked Jake's face and sat down on his haunches, waiting patiently for whatever was coming next.

    This random thought reminded me of the Togepi. It was squeaking happily as both the Chansey and the Blissey approached us cautiously. When they were a couple steps away the Togepi jumped out of Jake's arms and toddled over to the Blissey, chattering in its high-pitched voice. The Blissey smiled and picked up the baby Pokemon. It shared a long look with the Chansey, and then they both bowed to Jake.

    "I think they're thanking you for finding the Togepi," I said.

    The Blissey nodded, and then turned, walking away into a thicket of trees. The Chansey stayed behind, however, and rocked on its feet almost shyly. Despite doing this, it never looked away from Jake. I knew infatuation when I saw it.

    "It looks like this Chansey was very impressed by your fight with the Cradily," I remarked with a grin on my face. "Want to try and capture it?"

    OOC: Make that Chansey Male. I can't believe that I accurately predicted my last encounter...

    The blinding beam of light cascaded through the air and made direct contact. My insides vibrated in hasty triumph as the attack penetrated the Pokemon's tough shell. It clearly did a lot of damage and I knew exactly why. Flash Cannon was steel type which was advantageous for multiple reasons. First, steel type was super effective against the normally formidable rock-grass combo that Cradily held. Also, Saline got STAB or same type attack bonus from sharing the steel typing of the move. Finally, Saline also was equipped with a respectable Special Attack statistic. Because Flash Cannon as a move was a special attack, it benefitted from this. Normally, Cradily held its own defensively. However, with these special circumstances, Cradily fell without much fuss.

    The glow faded and the Cradily showed clear signs of weakness. The tentacles lining its neck that usually flailed happilywere drooping excessively, barely jiggling. It shot an angry glare at me and Saline and looked back a the Chansey-Blissey pair to hiss at them before sulkily retreating back into the water from whence it came. After it was completely submersed and indistinguishable, Chainy and I relaxed.

    "Good job," he said and I released Bambi once again. His limp form appeared on the ground in fromt of us and I pulled from my pocket the Revival Herb that I had purchased earlier. I opened the bag and was immediatelly assailed by a smell akin to a smellingsalt. The acidicparticles in the air flooded my nose, eyes, and mouth, causing me to fall into a coughing fit for a small time. I was stupid to open the bag right under my face, even Chainy retreated from me a bit before I removed the wrapping, but it wasn't going to be detrimental to my health apart from a small irritation of my senses. Besides, I needed a little wake-up anyway.

    I pulled off the string wrapped around the herbs and began to rip the leaves, holding them as far away rom me as possible and scrunching up my face to avoid unnecessary desensitization. Now that the juices themselves were being released, though, my hands were numbing and I was forced to painfully watch my work so I didn't drop any of the herb with my now clumsy hands. It was slow progress to rip and crush the herb into a nice, fine, ingestible paste. When it was finally ready, I bent down and awkwardly fed the concoction to Bambi.

    At first, there was a small reaction; a sort of moan and small stirring of the extremities. Then, all at once, Bambi jerked awake, spasming for a bit before hastily bounding to his feet. He looked flustered, but otherwise fine and completely concious. He was disorented from the rude awakenging and seemed confused for a moment before seeing that he was still with me and Chainy. He relaxed minutely, licked my face as I remained crouched, and sat to my side, waiting obediently for my instructions.

    I smiled and petted his head. I noticed the scratches from the earlier battle hat already scabbed over fairly well; the covered wounds weren't fleshy as fresh wounds susally are, but rather dry and solid feeling. Bambi also felt quite warm to the touch, another sign that his health had returned. This encouraged me further.

    The Togepi had been placed to the side of the battle with Saline and I went to go retrieve it. It was distracted and burbled happily in my arms as I carried it away. The Blissey, along with a Chansey that I hadn't been able to spy from behind the rock, was wading towards us through the stream. I had yet only ever heard of Blissey they were so rare. From what I had learned, they were said to be Pokemon that have a hypersense of sad emotion. They were beings of pure happiness and when they saw sadness around them, they were willed immediatelly to correct it. Their eggs were things of legends. One bite is supposed to eradicate all disease, both mental and physical, from the body. I gazed in warm awe as the Pokemon approached me.

    Togepi stared at the two Pokemon as if they were long lost siblings; something had always told me that the Togepi evolutionary line and the Chansey evolutionary line were somehow bonded as a species. It squeaked and lolled at them. The Chansey and Blissey looked at me happily and adimrably. The Togepi couldn't hold back any longer: it leapt from my arms and bounded towards the Pokemon, crying in excitement. The Blissey made a small noise of pure joy that wafted into the air like the smell of fresh baked pie in a prarie home at noon. Smiling, she reached down and plucked the small Pokemon from the soft ground on the bank of the stream. Now in possesion of the Togepi, the Chansey and Blissey looked at eachother exchanged a nonverbal moment of communication. Then, they both turned to me and bowed graciously. I felt my cheeks bloom with blood. Such respect from such honorable Pokemon was a feeling to behold.

    After thanking me, the Blissey walked past me and into the thick forest with the Togepi, presumably to bring it to her colony for safety. I was surprised, though, when the Chansey remained. It was eyeing me with cloying interest, almost daring me to notice it. It was rocking back and forth on its feet. I smiled at it amusedly. Its expression reminded me of something. I remembered when I had worked in a summer camp for fourth, fifth, and sixth graders. There was budding middle school awkwardness around topics like love. As a counselor, I was pretty much restricted from making aware my noticing of any relationship developing between kids, but I couldn't help but see the way that some of them looked at eachothher when they thought no one was looking. I saw something reminiscent of that plastered across Chansey's face right then.

    "It looks like this Chansey was very impressed by your fight with the Cradily. Want to try and capture it?" Chainy said with a chuckle hiding somwhere in his voice.

    "Wow, why not!?" I said excitedly. I quickly shifted gears from happy and awed, to the rough and analytical battle mode. My mind pulled together all my knowledge of Chansey and its battling style. Chansey were much more common that Blissey; almost every Nurse Joy had them. I was really close to a Joy that lived in Celadon, where I grew up. After school, I would often just go to the Pokecenter to do homework and hang out instead of going home. The Chansey there was nicknamed Queen because she was always so good at keeping things clean and tidy. I had only ever seen her battle once, and that was when there was an outburst of a nearby colony of Beedrill. The Beedrill swarmed the streets, attacking random people and Pokemon ruthlessly. When they reached the Pokecenter where every one was hiding and seeking help for the injuries caused, Queen was forced to let Nurse Joy handle the injuries while she went out and faced the Beedrill. The one thing that I noticed the most about that battle was Queen's amazing stamina. No matter how many attacks the Beedrill sent and no matter how much damage they seemed to do, Queen just recovered form it, bouncing back with vigor and finesse. Though she did use many attacking moves, she tried her hardest to either sing to sleep or incapacitate with Charm most of them.

    So, from this I knew that Chansey 1, had incredible stamina meaning that I would have to attack fast and hard, and 2 that Chansey were capable of using incapacitating moves like Sing and Charm. I pondered my strategy for a bit and then decided.

    "Let's go, Saline!” Saline was up. She lumbered to my side and waited for a command. “Let’s start off with Swords Dance and then use the stream to power a Metal jet!” Metal Jet was our combination Metal Claw and Aqua Jet attack. It combined attack force and with the am type attack bonus to get that brute force power when I was attacking a Pokemon that had too high of a special defense. Empoleon, as Pokemon, didn’t have too bad an attack, but I wanted to do more damge with the Swords Dance. Also, the Aqua Jet powered a faster attack, making it easier to score the first move. Here, however, I was just concerned with doing the most damage possible with the moves I had selected.

    First, Saline’s eyes and crown began to glow bright white. Then she raised her fins to her side and be gan to spin in a sharp way. She pulled together all her might and let loose an attacking power. When she halted, her crown was taller and her fins were clearly thicker than before. Also, though the bright glow of the attack faded, a duller more constant glow replaced it and stayed. From there, she jumped into the water of the stream. She immediatelly began to swim in circles, attaining speed and a aqua-silvery glow as she did. Finally, she jumped from the water dramatically. Water swirled around her like flames on a rocket as she flew towards Chansey. Her fins were bright silvery and metallic rather than their normal blue and splayed out wide. When she tackled into the Chansey, she would end up clawing with her fins as well.

    I waited for the attack to connect...

    OOC: You have one more Encounter after this one, buddy. Also, Chansey gender?

    ~~~~~
    "Wow, why not!?" Jake exclaimed. I nodded in agreement - Chansey evolved into Blissey, who were powerful Pokemon. They were commonly employed as special walls in the higher battling leagures. A Pokemon was called a "wall" if it could completely lock out an opposing Pokemon in a battle, and Blissey's high special defense stat meant that it could easily check lots of common powerful Pokemon like Starmie, Dragonite and Jolteon.
    "Let's go, Saline!” Saline was up. She lumbered to my side and waited for a command. “Let’s start off with Swords Dance and then use the stream to power a Metal Jet!”
    Saline nodded, and her crown and eyes began to glow a pure bright white. She span around in place, gesturing sharply with her fins. I could clearly see the white energy covering her crest, beak, and fins elongate, and when she stopped spinning her crest and fins were much thicker and longer than before. It was a variant of Swords Dance that I'd never seen before, but then again most of the Pokemon that I saw using it were humanoid warrior Pokemon, like Gallade, Infernape and Sceptile. This technique seemed to use some sort of energy to increase Empoleon's attack power, as opposed to releasing inner potential.
    The Chansey wasn't sure what to do, so it took a few steps backwards and growled at Saline. Its pink hair-like protusions waggled from side to side as it made a reberverating sound that was as questioning as it was warning. It was about to start walking forward when Saline suddenly turned to her left and dived into the river, swimming in quick circles. The Chansey peered over the edge of the river before putting both of its hands out in front of it. A pink square of energy spun outwards from the space between its hands, growing larger, until it was about 3 square metres in size. It hovered in front of the pink Pokemon, bobbing gently. It was one of the defensice screen techniques, but I wasn't sure which one.
    Suddenly, Saline burst out of the water, her fins pointed towards the Chansey like a diver about to enter the water. Pockets and streams of water floated up with her as she flew towards the Normal type. She flew straight through the screen, and I thought the Chansey had put up a Light Screen. However, even though the Empoleon had passed through without harm, about half of the water and silver energy that had been gathered about Saline's fins had been stripped away and was turning into smoke.
    Saline didn't notice, though. She just barreled into the Chansey, smacking it across the head with both of her fins. The Chansey uttered a small cry, but some fire leaped into her eyes. Instead of letting Saline move past, the Chansey grabbed the Empoleon and spun, using the Steel-type Pokemon's weight against it. They spun around twice before Chansey let go, and Saline rocketed out of its grasp, straight into a tree. Saline fell ot the ground, and the Chansey grabbed onto its knees, overcome with the effort of the attack.
    OOC: Clusterfuck of misuderstanding. As I said Chansey is male and I meant last as in latest. ^^ ( my last encounter better be orgasmic or I’ll kill you c: )
    Chansey took a sort of battle pose. I don’t know how much of a battle pose one could take when they had a body the size of an oven and hands proportionally as useless as a Tyrannosaurus Rex. However, it was made clear that the stance was aggressive by the look in her eyes. Although she wasn’t a fully evolved Blissey, she had some experience battling and some definite endurance when it came to it.
    It let loose a weak sound that reverberated in my ear so I wasn’t sure if it was continuing or I was just imagining it. I shook my head in surprised reaction. I felt warm and sorry. The Chansey looked kind of adorable. I almost regreted ordering Empoleon into an attack, but it was too late. But wait. I was battling! It had used a Growl attack. I rolled a soft ‘r’ in the back of my throat like a growl in annoyance. I stared back at Saline in the water, hoping that the Growl hadn’t affected her attack that much.
    Just as Saline emerged from the water, Chansey held up her hands andthey released a nebulous beam of bright pink energy. It shot out like an old Star Wars laser gun shot and flattened out to a wall of brilliant pink light. Although translucent, the shield was clearly one of the defensive screen moves, Reflect or Light Screen. Chansey was known for its fantastic healing and defending Pokemon. So much so, in fact, that they were stationed at every Pokemon Center of which I knew and to which I had been to assist Nurse Joy with their fantastic healing abilities. They came in extreme handy, as I knew.
    Saline flew furiously towards the Chansey, erratic streamers of water radiating from her body and a bright, silver glow coating her fins. She dove straight through the barrier that blocked her path, apparently going too fast to be halted. However, her power was reduced; the wall of light filtered a good chunk of the gleam on her wings as well as some of the slipstreams of water trailing at her side. She smashed with a rather reduced power into the Chansey and followed through, flying to the Chansey’s side as the pink Pokemon recoiled in pain.
    Suddenly, Chansey shoved out her hand with a devious glow in her eyes. She placed an unexpected iron grip on my Empoleon and spun with the strength of a Pokemon several times her caliber in terms of attacking power. I gasped as the pink Pokemon released Saline with the gained momentum and struck an interesting pose, burgundy fire burnging in her pupilless eyes. Saline flew haaphazard into a tree not far from the stream and sunk to the muddy earth.
    Counter... dammit I thought as the Chansey’s eyes returned to normal and it fell to an overexerted position. At least it wore it out somewhat... I jogged over to Saline, who was attempting to pull herself back up from the ground; the attack was rough since it did basically double what she had done to the Chansey, and that wasn’t a laughable amount. I placed a hand on her fin as she finally reached a standing position.
    “That was awesome, Saline. We didn’t catch her off guard, but you did a fantastic job anyway. She’s weaker now, more unprepared. Let’s hit her with a Whirlpool and back it up with a Bubblebeam to make sure that the Whirlpool does its job. Ready?”
    Saline nodded shortly and then looked back at the Chansey. I stood to her side and she ran and jumped back into the water. Illuminated by a neon glow down her anterior, she spun in a single circle. A depression appeared suddenly in the water and with the mysterious coaxing of Saline’s wings, it grew larger and more powerful. She crafted the curved sides of the whirlpool like a potter at his wheel. She made a small movement and the Whirlpool heaved up out of the stream. Saline made an ‘X’ like slashing motion with her fins and the Whirlpool teared out of the stream after the fat, pink Pokemon.
    Not waiting for the move to make contact, Saline swelled at the chest and released a barrage of blue and mother-of-pearl orbs raging after the Whirlpool. She exerted so much effort into the attack that she literally pushed herself back in her floating position above the stream. The orbs swirled and cascaded after the Whirlpool and towards the target, who had already launched an attack of her own. I leaned to spy which attack it was...
    OOC: I'm an idiot, Chansey are female only. Also... you're probably not going to like the last encounter >_>
    ~~~~~~

    Jake ran over to his Pokemon, who was slowly getting to her feet. He obviously took a greater interest in the wellbeing of his Pokemon than most Trainers - it was good to see him care, but he'd have to let go a little bit if he wanted to battle in the pro leagues, and just like anyone else, Pokemon could be spoiled and babied. Hopefully he wasn't doing either.

    “That was awesome, Saline. We didn’t catch her off guard, but you did a fantastic job anyway. She’s weaker now, more unprepared. Let’s hit her with a Whirlpool and back it up with a Bubblebeam to make sure that the Whirlpool does its job. Ready?” Jake asked his Pokemon.

    Saline nodded, and Jake stepped back as she ran to the side and dived back into the river. She swum around in a circle, jerking her wings sharply. A large section of the water-top suddenly stilled. Saline began to spin her fins gently, and the still water began to rotate. Her flicks became vicious shoves, and she cultivated the section of water into a roaring Whirlpool.

    The Chansey saw what was coming, and decided to prepare accordingly. It put its hands in front of itself, and the pink Reflect suddenly began to bubble. In the depths of the bubbles was a bright blue glow, and it slowly rose to the surface, staining the pink pane of energy with blue streaks. I knew exactly what it was doing - it was fusing the protective techniques of Reflect and Light Screen. It was a trick Dual often used - not quite as good as a full-on Protect, but it was damn near, and it left the user's manoueverability unmolested.

    Saline hefted her flippers up, and the huge chunk of Whirlpool rose up into the air. She then slashed them in an X shape, and the Whirlpool flew in an arc towards the Chansey. She then began spitting a stream of light blue bubbles towards her opponent, the bubbles managing to escape before the water rushed back in to fill the void. The Whirlpool crashed on top of the Chansey and miraculously retained its shape, threatening to whisk the Normal-type away. The Bubblebeam didn't help either - they flew straight through the rushing water and burst in front of the Chansey, knocking it over. It managed to cling onto a rock on the ground, though, and the Reflect/Light Screen descended to cover the Chansey almost like a blanket, taking the worst of the damage.

    The Chansey's spare hand began glowing bright white. It made a weak overarm throw, and the bright white glow spun around in the Whirlpool, looking like a crazy party special effect. The glow eventually shot out of the whirlpool, and I saw the object emanating the white light was ovaloid in shape. It fell into the water with a plop, right in front of Saline. Before I could shout a warning, the Egg Bomb detonated, and a geyser of water shot up into the air.
