OOC: It's okay. I wouldn't call it fail rangering though, many were confused.

BIC:So Cacnea was quick to catch onto the fact of battling it quickly. There were a couple differences that made this a lot unlike like last time though. The terrain was one major aspect. Last time, it was the sand the fight took place on. Now it was just a 'regular' old playing field.

Maybe I could cut this quick, cutting to the chase by instantly throwing the Park Ball. Maybe I could extend this a large amount of time, by actually battling. Each way had its pros and cons, and I had to be prepared for every situation regardless.

Personally, I would like to simply cut to the chase. Thing is though, a side also wanted to continue the adventure. You know, let the dream live. How my own self could have conflicting opinions on a simple battle, I could not comprehend. I had to get through it though and reach a consensus within myself, as weird as that sounds.

If I did decide to battle, I would have to be careful, as like I said earlier, I'm fond of the cactus creature, and Torterra is as well. If I mess this up, a long time later I'd probably remember and feel bad. It's seriously true, no matter how childish it sounds as well.

Hm, maybe I'll battle it. Cutting right to the chase simply isn't me, and I can't just randomly change during this.

Taking out the simple ball, I soon threw it out, finally showing Torterra.

"Okay Torterra," I said, wanting to explain what situation we're in, "we're battling Cacnea again. You're here again to give Sudowoodo a chance to breathe from that fight with Linoone. Let's begin with a simple Absorb on the ground under Cacnea. It's the same technique we used back at the last battle. Be careful though, the ground is a bit tougher."

Somewhere in my mind, I felt that Torterra wouldn't use an old trick, even in a new environment. However, in other places, I felt like it would follow me just fine.

Torterra nodded, still a bit freaked out by the Togepi's actions to complain. Not that he wanted to, anyway, but it was hard to penetrate the soil that has been specially treated to prevent trainer drowning in mud in a huge lake overflow or something. But after Torterra cracked through the hard surface he realized the ground was filled with nutrients. The vines tunneled through the soil and towards Cacnea. Might as well absorb a bit more than just under Cacnea...

Cacnea felt itself lose power suddenly. Oh, yeah. This was familiar. This one was stronger, though, but not strong enough to become painful. It was more of an annoyance than anything else. Perhaps it was because Torterra felt better through Absorb and could take in more and more health as time passed. To counter this, Cacnea leapt back and pierced the vines with its needles. It didn't hurt Torterra since the vine was simply like a tube supplying health. However, the vine retracted anyway. Cacnea saw his chance. The moment the vine was put of the ground he shot a Leech Seed into the hole tunneled by the vine. The Leech Seed flew out and- just suddenly- flew into Torterra's mouth. Cacnea winced when Torterra gagged and swallowed the seed. This wasn't what Cacnea visioned. Of course, if the seed DIDN'T get dissolved in the stomach acids, it would grow and grow, sapping energy and transferring it to Cacnea. Never mind how it WILL get to Cacnea since it was inside Torterra. There's a first time for everything...

Man, this battle's start is much greater than I would have ever imagined from my standpoint. Cacnea attempted to use Leech Seed on Torterra, but the giant tortoise swallowed the seed. The only true downside to this consequentially is that Torterra might get sick later down the road. Hopefully though, this doesn't happen and it stays very well in terms of health. Still though, maybe it was time to do something a bit more damaging than a simple Absorb.

I don't want to go with attacks that attacked right upfront then then, no. I wanted to do exactly what Cacnea did, except I'm basically sending it back. It could be considered a copycat tactic, but not fully. I'd think of it as a follow up to absorbing the ground below. Instead of damaging, just attempt to leech more energy. It was foolproof in my mind.

After the first energy suck-out, I would be golden to capture Cacnea. At least hopefully I would be golden to. To be honest, this fight is more exhilarating than I thought it would be. I don't really want this to end, but it has to end at some point. Still though, thinking of strategies in using the terrain to fight is not something I do every day. Even if I am a Trainer, most of the battles I do are pretty straightforward.

Anyway, at that point I said, "Torterra, let's use Leech Seed on Cacnea! Basically give it a taste of its own medicine. That okay?"

I had just finished my expedition with my trainer, Daniel, in Botanic Gardens. In fact, I was just preparing to walk back to Headquarters when my phone suddenly rang. I picked it up, only to hear Annie's voice. This could only mean one thing. Replacement. Just as I thought, Annie quickly stated her intentions and revealed that Timpeni, a fellow ranger, had something cropped up suddenly, and Annie needed a replacement immediately for A Turtwig, Timpeni's trainer. Since I was in the same area after all, I didn't suppose it would cause any kind of problem, in which I decided to agree.

According to Annie, he was somewhere towards the northwest of the Gardens. I continued brisk-walking towards that area, while Snorlax tried to keep up with me as hard as he could. "Sorry Snorlax. My trainer is left out alone in the Gardens so I need to hurry. If you're too tired, do you want to get inside the Pokeball first? I can release you back out once we reached."

While continuing to walk at a relatively fast pace, Snorlax shook its head to disagree. I figured it just wanted more time out in the nature and with me. Within the next few minutes, we had reached the area. There he was, the young trainer, standing behind his Torterra as they do battle. I took out a casing, which stored a half eaten apple in it. As disgusting as it looked, it was actually very useful. It was a held item called Leftovers, and would heal the user holding it every few time. I passed it over to Snorlax, whom happily accepted the Leftovers and started munching on it.

I noticed that the Torterra seemed to be in a rather uncomfortable state of mind. It seemed to hesitate on almost every movement, while its expression wasn't natural at all. In fact, it seemed choked. Suddenly, I heard my trainer said, "Torterra, let's use Leech Seed on Cacnea! Basically give it a taste of its own medicine. That okay?"

... That could only meant Cacnea had used Leech Seed on Torterra before. Please don't tell me Torterra had actually swallowed and choked on the Leech Seed somehow? As if Torterra had heard my thoughts, it let out a sudden roar and instead of firing a Leech Seed from its back which Torterra species usually do, it spitted out a brown seed from its mouth instead. It was Leech Seed. Probably the same one that Cacnea used. Still, it seemed to have double the usual effectiveness, as it not only helped Torterra to spit it out, but the Leech Seed seemed to have worked. The seed fired towards Cacnea and once it caught onto one of its pin-like structure on its body, vines immediately sprouted from the seed and enveloped Cacnea completely.

It didn't seemed to hold back however. Once it realized that it was taken over by the Leech Seed, it seemed even more determined and started firing a barrage of white needles from its dark green spikes on its hand that was glowing white. The attack were fired like torpedo missiles and was almost impossible to dodge from, at least with Torterra's speed. I watched as all five of the missile-like needles struck Torterra head on. The attack didn't seemed to much however; even lesser than I thought. Just as I was wondering, I noticed the sudden glistening of Torterra's front head. It was probably the effects of Withdraw that might have been used earlier.

Suddenly, Cacnea flinched while the vines on its body started to glow in a flashing neon red. The vines seemed to have sapped the Cacnea's health, and some of Torterra's bruises from the Pin Missile healed quickly after that. Leech Seed was starting to take effect.

Wow, things are working extremely well now. I just have to make sure not to spoil my luck, lest bad overconfident stuff happens. Maybe I should just go for capturing Cacnea now, it's weakened enough. If it doesn't need the pain, I won't give it some. I only do what's necessary, and that has been accomplished. Now all I had to do was look through my items to find the utensil necessary.

Weird though that Timpeni had to leave in the middle. I guess she had to do something. That's how the world is now, people have to do a lot of things.

I have to say though, Torterra did very well in this fight. It not only held its own against a Leech Seed, but it fired the same seed back at Cacnea with a lot of power. I have no doubt about my starter's strength now, but I shouldn't have any before. Maybe this run is making me grow as a person, as stupid as that sounds.

Finally, after thinking through all of that stuff, I found exactly what I wanted. It was an orb, the bottom white and the top a sort of camouflage. It was one of the Park Balls I had, and soon to be one of the ones that were used as well.

Good thing its ability to dodge was suppressed a little, because now it wouldn't be hard to hit it. My arm is a little off today though, so that may lead to a failure. I carry some confidence though, so that's good.

Anyway, with as much precision as I can have (which actually isn't a lot due to my observation problems), I toss the device at Cacnea, hoping that it not only hits, but successfully captures the little bugger. That's all I can do at this point, hope and see. Hope and see, hope and see, hope and see...

I waited for my trainer's next course of action. He seemed to have been lost in some thought as he stared into space blankly. After a while, when he seemed to have finally snapped out of it, he took out a Park Ball and threw it towards the Cacnea whom was staring at A Turtwig blanky as well, albeit quite hesitatingly. The fling didn't looked to be as decisive as I had expected, and the throw was a bit weak. However, it seemed to have just managed to make it as it opened up upon contact with the Cacnea's skin.

The red flash of light consumed the Pokemon within and it started shaking on the ground, symbolizing that the Pokemon within is trying to struggle and free itself from the capture. I watched as it continued to shake one time, two times, ... and it stopped. I quickly walked over to the Cacnea and picked up the Park Ball, before turning back to face my trainer.

"Congrats on your capture! As per Park rules, I will hold your Cacnea for now, until you finish the expedition," I said and reminded him, then stuffing the Park Ball into my messenger bag.

Before we could even move an inch, we were interrupted immediately by yet another Pokemon. This Pokemon was one of the highly sought after Pokemon by collectors all over the world, simply because it was only recently discovered. A completely new species. The Scarf Pokemon approached us cutely with its somewhat small and rounded feet, and held onto its scarf-like tuff of fur. I didn't even know if that was its tail, or its scarf, or simply its fur. Regardless, I proceeded to ask my trainer, "Do you want a Cinccino?"

OOC: I was planning to end this after the Cacnea battle, and I'd like to follow through with this plan and end this run if possible.
BIC: YES! I CAUGHT A CACNEA! I AM SO PROUD OF MYSELF! Time to move on now though. Or wait, no. A Cinccino stands in my path. "Do you want a Cinccino?" Ataro asks. I start to wonder, until I look up at the sky.

The sun, which was very high when I started my journey here, has proceeded to climb down, making this time now the sun set. It made me think of all the time I've spent here, and wonder how time flies. For now, maybe I should put this journey through here on hold, and come back later.

And so, right then and there I said, "Nah, instead, could I please leave for now? I have at least one capture to show for my encounters."

If I ever decide to look back on this adventure, at least I'd know of the memories I had, both the thoughts and actions.

A Turtwig had started to wonder, while staring up at the sky, as if in deep concentration. He seemed to have pondered on his adventure in the Park so far; the journey that he had adventured through with his team of Pokemon, the new Oddish that he had just caught, and suddenly returned his concentration back to me.

"Nah, instead, could I please leave for now? I have at least one capture to show for my encounters."

"Sure. That's fine. I will escort you back to the Headquarters and we can finish up the simple signing procedure so that you'd be able to get your captured Pokemon officially. I hope you visit the Park again!" I said chirpily; I had hoped that my trainer had enjoyed his adventure and come back for more.
