Thread: Individual RP: Turtwig's A-B-Cs

The ball was thrown, but it wasn't thrown to accuracy. As it passed Sudowoodo and barely touched Linoone, Sudowoodo jumped up, grabbing the precious ball before it fell into the deep crevice. By now, the Soothing Fragrance was gone, and Sudowoodo and Linoone were sworn enemies again... sworn enemies sure take a short time to concur...

The Linoone slowly approached Sudowoodo, before suddenly dashing around the tree in circles. Sudowoodo started to have trouble finding Linoone, until the Pokemon closed up on it and pushed the Park Ball out of the green balls that made out its hands. Linoone did a back-flip, before grabbing the ball with its sharp white teeth. Sudowoodo simply fought back, using Copycat again to grab the ball with Covet again- only to realize she couldn't move. No matter how hard, the wooden legs would not budge at all. Linoone let go of the Parkball and smelt it curiously, not taking his eyes off Sudowoodo.

Ah, things were back to normal. My plan didn't work, and that for once actually went as a shock to me. I was almost very used to these things working from Torterra fighting the Linoone that one little slip caught me by surprise. Now though, both Sudowoodo and Linoone seemed to be caught with Paralysis, a strange move when done by both sides. This would definitely slow down the pace of everything, but I was ready. Or at least I hoped I was ready for what was to come. Two strategies were in my mind for this, and I honestly couldn't decide which I wanted to use at the moment with Sudowoodo.

Finally, I decided to let the Sudoowodo decide. I was honestly certain that she would pick the right thing to do. "Alright Sudowoodo, I've got two plans. We could either wait for Linoone to move and copy it again, or we could wait for it to attack and catch it by surprise by a Sucker Punch. Which one do you want to do right now, it's your choice." After I finished, I definitely could swear I heard gears turning extremely speedily in Sudowoodo's head, showing how much they were thinking. Soon I remembered something though and said "oh, and Sudowoodo, please go easy. I don't want anything bad to happen to this Linoone for now, I just want it weakened so it barely keeps itself from fainting."

The moment Sudowoodo was given those orders, she automatically picked the second one, the one she preferred. She longed to feel the soft bump on the Linoone's head as it performed Sucker Punch. As the Linoone went in to give Sudowoodo a harsh Slash, Sudowoodo simply dodged left, raising her left arm. Now to slam! Slam as hard as possible! Slam... sucker... punch...?

The vision of the Sentret popped up again in her mind, and came along guilt that ensured Sudowoodo would simply hit Linoone on the head with moderate force- and she did. From behind me, a surprised 'Cac' sounded. I turned around, to see the Cacnea. Due to all the commotion, we have forgotten about the cute little pinball. It *walked up, and Sudowoodo stared at it. "Nea, cacnea nea." Upon the mention of those words, Sudowoodo smiled, closing her ears. Linoone attempted to do the same, but its tiny legs could not reach the small earholes under the thick fur it possessed.

Cacnea started to perform Grass Whistle. The harmonic sound of the scrapping of pins was, unlike what most would think, peaceful and non-piercing. It sounded like a lullaby played on violin. The Linoone, no matter how much it digged its head into the ground, the sensitive ears that now played a disadvantage picked up the sound. Soon, the Parkball rolled out of its hands as it fell asleep. Sudowoodo picked it up, and looked at Cacnea, smiling now.

Sudowoodo chose the second option, and with a little help from Cacnea, it went through quite smoothly. Now time to try again at capturing it. I just needed a way to get the Park Ball far enough accurately, but I had no idea. Instead, I just tried to throw it as accurately as I could. To be honest, I had no idea if it would hit, my aim was really off at times. As a backup plan though, I soon said "Sudowoodo, please try to throw the Parkball at Linoone as soon as you can if it ends up missing by a little bit and you acquire it. That way it won't be able to pick up another Park Ball." In my head, I hoped very much that this capture would go through, because a sense of doubt was creeping over me.

Sudowoodo obeyed this time, and the ball dropped over Linoone. This time, it clicked. Sudowoodo had no trouble of jumping back with the ball, even with no finger, the stalks were good enough for clamping the ball tight enough. I took the ball and placed it in my bag. Finally, a capture. This run has been going on for quite long without one.

"Congrats! You got it." I said, putting the ball i my bag. Park rules stated that the ranger had to keep the ball till the trainer had to be escorted back to the gate after either fifteen encounters with Pokemon or running out of Parkballs. There are more reasons but I wouldn't want to escort any trainer out for the remaining two.

"We've finished this route. I guess we go to the flower garden now," I said, before reading the sign. "Ah! My mistake. The flower and fruit garden were merged together some time ago. I guess I must have forgotten." The time has passed quickly. It was just, what, an hour ago when the run started. It was now slowly coming to an end.

"Oh, and don't forget that you can battle Cacnea at any time."

"Ah yes, Cacnea." I said, not really thinking much about what just happened. "I think I'll battle it later. Right now, the flower/fruit garden seems interesting, well the fruit part more."

"Okay, let's go-" I was stopped by a little Togepi rolling in front of me from down the nearby hill. It looked around before leaping up, looking at us in anticipation and eagerness. It seemed interested in Cacnea, who was for some reason NOT named the Spike Ball Pokemon, when it was more fitting. Er, wait, cactus was more fitting, actually. Never mind.

"Would you like to battle this little Togepi?" I said, and the Pokemon leaped up onto my head. OW! The shell was spiky alright. I didn't know that. Perhaps it was because my Togekiss didn't leap on my head when it was a tiny little ball of... spikes... ouch...

"Sure", I replied, certainly wondering if this Togepi were truly so innocent. I never really grew to trust Togepi, the name "Spike Ball" seems to be a big hint to me. Their evolutions though, were okay in my books. They seemed in no way evil or anything in that category.

Hopefully though, this Togepi was what it seemed like, just innocent and jumping on heads. Either way, I was going to play it safe until this Togepi showed its true colors or stripes. Torterra was my choice for this possible battle, and I tossed its ball into the air, as it popped out with a thud.

If this Togepi really were the timid type, I hope it won't be scared by a giant "continent" species. Of course, many live on Torterra, but you never really know with small ones. They're usually the least predicable of all people, places, animals, or things.

"Alright Torterra, let's stay a bit careful with this Togepi. Let's begin small with a little Absorb to slightly sap some energy from it. Is that alright?" I honestly hoped Torterra would listen to me, especially when the situation has a possibility of being exceedingly fragile.

Yes, I truly hoped. I might be pessimistic and a bit suspecting, but it was honestly for the best that I wished. Besides, it isn't really my style to go around putting so much trust on everybody. Nobody truly knows how others are liked, even with a mind reading way. It's a funny way the mind works.

Torterra sighed upon seeing the new opponent. Oh, so a tiny Togepi? Um. It would rather see what the thing would do first before attacking. The little Pokemon giggled, before pulling out its hand. The finger wiggled. Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle... it was undoubtedly the move Metronome- anything from flailing madly to a volcanic explosion could happen. It was the most dangerous and unpredictable move ever known.

The Togepi lowered its head before charging upfront on its opponent- only to miss. The Pokemon landed into a soft bush, and Torterra turned its back. Er, maybe it would use Absorb later. It pulled Togepi out of the bush with its small teeth- it had hundreds of them lining its gums. The Togepi looked dazed. Torterra looked at its trainer- a stat lowering move would be more fair on a hazy Pokemon.

"Oh come on" I silently told the Torterra. "Haven't you ever heard of the phrase 'big things come in small packages'?" You know, looking back, I might have been just a bit over the top on this one. My not trusting instinct kicks in way too much nowadays, yet it was before never any part of my character, nor did it relate to me at all.

This Togepi was only the latest in a series of not trusting, and Torterra was really the only one who I entrusted secrets with. Maybe it was the overall excitement of my journey starting to dwindle and then coming back even stronger than ever that made this happen. Either way, why am I thinking about this in a Park trying to battle a Togepi? It was certainly a mystery to me for doing this.

Now time to do something else. Torterra wanted a move to lower Togepi's stats from the look of its face, and I guess I'll give it one. Thing is though, I remember learning from day one of my journey that it does not learn any of those moves. I guess it's time to focus my energy on some other type of stat changing move, one that raises an aspect of Torterra rather than lower's one in Togepi.

"Alright Torterra, let's use Withdraw right now to raise some Defense. Just in case this Togepi knows Metronome and is able to do something exceedingly damaging. That is my main cause of worry, Metronome has done bad things for us before." I wondered if Torterra did remember that day when Metronome did a bunch of damage to another one of my Pokémon, and if it would head my advice nevertheless. After all, it wouldn't know the pain since no part of the attack was directed toward it.

Regardless, if it doesn't, it will soon experience a possible storm of pain, and learn its lesson. Hopefully. Stubbornness was never something I saw in Torterra, but it might grow to develop and adapt to that characteristic. Possibly, but hopefully not. Maybe I should stop talking now so I don't plague myself with even more worries about what could happen. I'm staying too much in the future, and not enough in the present which is slipping away from me in an ever so fast speed.

"Tor, torterra." Torterra said. His shell glowed a dim white-blue as he entered. All the while, Togepi was still trying to think clearly. The move was executed quite smoothly, added with a bit more grumbling from Torterra, thinking of why his trainer would not allow him to learn a nice added move so it had more interesting moves to use. Torterra shook these thoughts off, and concentrated on the battle, now more comfortable with rock-hard plates covering his not-so-soft flesh.

Togepi, in fact, was pretending. And swift turn, and small hearts were flying at Torterra. The Pokemon, however, was ready. Torterra bent on his left, lifting his right legs, allowing the Sweet Kiss to go by. Torterra then continued this in a very irregular pattern, and the small baby Pokemon, its brain still not very developed, was affected by this pattern. Its vision blurred, but it still had coherent thoughts, so it wasn't confused. As it prepared another Metronome, it discovered that it wasn't going to hit from its abnormal vision. Togepi also had a a head throb, to top it off. Togepi grumbled somewhat was stood still for the time being. It really wanted to get Torterra in a embarrassing situation...

I stay really observant when I feel something fishy is going on it seems. I noticed that Togepi really was trying to do something to Torterra, but what is it, and why? I half wanted to call out to Torterr about this, but I also wanted to keep quiet and see if it would realize sooner or later. I decided to just let it notice, because frankly, I had no idea what was going on here anymore.

"Alright, Torterra, let's try to put a weak Absorb on Togepi. Please?" I said, not knowing what could possibly go on anymore.

"Believe me, I'm as confused as you are." Torterra said. But to us, it was a series of grunts, followed by Torterra opening his mouth. A needle was fired like a gun at blinding spin, penetrating Togepi's shell. Togepi groaned, white, glowing balls of pure energy slowly flying towards Torterra. As the flow of energy stopped, the needle withered and bent, falling off Togepi's body.

Now, Togepi closed its eyes. Pieces of land was forced off the ground, flying into the sky. Torterra looked in awe as Togepi glowed, chanting to the spell. The rocks were shot at Torterra, who quickly withdrew his body. He felt the rocks beat against his shell, causing his body to shake and rumble, and a few dents to form. As the shower of rocks stopped, Torterra emerged from his shell, before looking at his trainer. Now, he wasn't going to toy around anymore- this Togepi wasn't so innocent after all.

OOC: Apparently Linoone can't be caught by Park Balls. I guess this means its capture was failed?

BIC: Togepi was relying an awful lot on luck. Torterra and I were relying an awful lot on a mixed bag. It was hard to tell the odds of the fight. Hurting this thing looked to be a bad decision, and I didn't mean because it just looked weak. I truly don't want to hurt something now for no meaning. Something bent on deception wouldn't be much use to me in addition to having no placement, and to be honest the only reason I'm here is to capture more Pokémon. This Togepi was sadly not one of them.

Cacnea though, was pure of heart. It was also pretty amiable for a spiny creature, which everyone should give kudos for. I have no doubt this thing will find place on my team, and it might have uses beyond what was shown in its battle.

I was also sort of growing tired, which was very unsurprising due to my lack of Stamina, and didn't really want to watch this battle. When battling Cacnea though, I'd be able to give up a little of my time just for the little bugger. After that though, I'd be on my way somewhere else. Though I'd undoubtedly be back in the National Park again.

Either way, once I reached my decision, I said "I think we should stop battling Togepi now, and battle Cacnea instead."

OOC: GAH. So sorry for my fail rangering.

"To-togepi?" The Togepi looked in a bit of confusion as we walked away. Torterra looked at the spike ball, and jumping a bit when the thing started to roll. However, rolling on her shell to try to catch up ended up having it slamming straight into a tree. Um. I know I SHOULD help it, but by the look of anger in its eyes I don't think it needs any. However, the tiny little Pokemon's stubby legs couldn't keep up with even our normal walking speed. Slowly, we walked into a more calmer area, and we could battle without a psychotic Pokemon running in and trying to stop everything. It was a grassy, nearly treeless meadow surrounded by trees. Pokemon didn't go in meadows much. They could be spotted there.

"Cacnea." The green ball of spikes looked at A. By the look in the trainer's eyes, the cactus knew by now that was the look in the man's eyes when he wanted to battle. Though we didn't know, every time we wanted to do something or our mood change, the tiny little change is noticeable by observant Pokemon. Since there was no other Pokemon around, Cacnea got the message.
