NBP#1
I, Ranger Elisa Fleming, was bored. Terribly bored. I hadn't gone out on any Park runs recently, and now, I wanted to claim one. My laptop was booted up, I quickly searched through the National Park data and whatnot.
I decided to look for those who were unclaimed and were visiting the park within the next two days - even better if it was on this very day. I would, practically, take any run I saw - except for the fact that they were all going to the mountains.
I sighed heavily, everyone had wanted to go to the mountains these days - specifically Deckbi. I did not know what was so good or interesting about them - sure, they had extensive and interesting cave networks, if you like that sort of thing. Personally, I didn't as it would be extremely easy for you to get lost inside the mountain.
"Mount Oktori, Mount Deckbi, Deckbi... Ooh, the Woods!" I read off the list of trainers. Unfortunately, somebody claimed the Woods run before me. I was outrageous...! "Gah, moving on... Oktori, Deckbi, Abandoned Power Plant. I haven't been there before - that is mine!" I quickly clicked on the Power Plant run, but what the next screen showed me caused me to rage in fury once more.
Sorry, ranger, you are too late. Some one has already claimed this run - please try again next time! it read. My eyes moved to the next line with the details of the run and who had claimed it. It was a certain James Carter, or Chainy - as he was better known as.
I breathed in deeply, now was not the time to go into a raging fit. However, Chainy had just gotten back from a run some time ago - and here he was, taking another trainer through the Park.
I stood up, stomping out of my office and into his. Chainy, though, looked very sick. I gasped, taken aback. Why would he claim a run when he wasn't feeling too well? In fact, his arms were clutched around his stomach and his cheeks were flushed crimson red, his eyes were closed as well.
I ran over to his desk, shaking him. Then, he was breathing - and was awake. I smelled the scent of liquor, causing me to gasp angrily. "Chainy! What do you think you're doing, drinking on the job!? Do you know how dangerous that could have been for the trainer - Shawn, was it?"
"Huh..? Elisa, leave me alone! I... Don't.. Feel so good--" he replied before vomiting. I jumped back as his barf poured into the wastebasket, then fell into unconsciousness.
"IVY!!" I shouted, calling one of my fellow rangers - and perhaps the only sensible one here. The other female came rushing in, and with one quick look around the room, she need not ask what had happened.
"Should we report him to the boss or what?" she asked, scanning the Elite Ranger over and over.
"Hmm, get him to the clinic instead?" I suggested. This was not the first time James had done this, but I suspected he would learn his lesson now. If he didn't, we would definitely tell our boss.
"Okay, I'll take care of that," Ivy offered, and I smiled gratefully. I tugged Chainy off his seat, giving him a rather hard punch on the shoulder. I watched with a slightly contorted smile as the ranger pulled him on the ear. She dragged him along, his ear getting red.
I burst out into fits of hysterical laughter, thinking of how much trouble James would be in when he awoke. Ivy would, no doubt, punish him. Too bad I would not be there to see the scene.
I walked back triumphantly into my office, going over the list of unclaimed trainers once more. There was only a choice between Mt. Oktori and Mt. Deckbi now. I chose the Deckbi run, as my most recent journey had been through Mt. Oktori - and I didn't want to go back there just yet.
I brought out my RDA - Ranger's Digital Assistant - scanning it onto another device next to my computer. I had, kind of, invented these gadgets for my own use - though with some help from the other rangers, specifically Chainy. The machine beeped, and I looked at my yellow gadget. I pressed a green button on the touch-screen that was labeled "Accept File", and all the trainer's, as well as the run's, information was sent to my device. In a moment, the RDA had downloaded the file, which I could access conveniently later on.
I grabbed three Pokeballs - I had decided to bring alone Kindle, my Typhlosion, Superman, my Machamp, and my Dragonite. From my chair, I took my brown-colored shoulder bag which contained medicines and revival herbs, as well as Pokedolls and everything else the trainer might need on this adventure.
I walked out of the Docks Ranger Outpost, and into the teleportation device. Within moments, I felt that weird sensation I got every time I teleported or warped to a different place. I closed my eyes as a shudder ran through my spine... I felt the organisms and cells and atoms in my body being transported to Mount Deckbi's outpost...
When I arrived, I quickly looked around for the trainer. I checked his file, stifling a confused face when I read his name. "A Turtwig?" I mumbled, asking myself. I wasn't sure if I wanted to believe that was his real name - I wasn't even sure how I was supposed to pronounce the name. Would it be long A or short A?
I looked up from my RDA, pushing a red button at the side to make it transform. It morphed into something like a huge - though not too big - wristwatch, and I strapped it on. I took in a sharp intake of breath, this run might just be interesting after all.
