Shortly after Ye's use of his electricity to shed some light into the tunnel, I recalled him back to his Pokeball. Once that was squared away, I notice Elisa looking over at a rock. Besides the strange coloration, I didn't see anything special about it. Before I could recognize it, the ranger turned and spoke.

    "A rather rare find."

At that moment, her RDA spouted out information on the small boulder. It turns out that it was a Nosepass

"Well, it's not a Steel- or Ground-type, "Still, would you want to battle this creature?"

Taking Elisa's information into account, I remember that I only have a handful of Parkballs left for this excursion. If I go to capture this pokemon, I won't have much left if something really rare and exquisite comes along. Managing my resources is my best bet for now, and patience is a virtue. I'll have to pass up on this odd little creature this time, but maybe in a return trip it might pop up and I'll be more inclined to bring it home with me. Turning to Elisa, I respond to the question she imposed.

"I rather keep going and get something a little bit more... Interesting."

My eyes shift back to the immobile Pokemon, still either not paying attention to us or oblivious to having company only a few feet away from it. There's just no excitement from something like that, it mind as well be a rock. Shaking my head, I start to follow a path that would avoid the compass Pokemon. Hopefully something is waiting just a little further down the path that will really spark my interest. I know Ye was probably hoping for some battle time, but he'll just have to wait a bit longer, just like the rest of my team that haven't been out yet. The most I could guarantee is use for their hidden moves to overcome obstacles at this point in the adventure. Battles and potential captures will come quicker if we trudge on.

OOC: You don't necessarily have to send out a Pokemon or command a move even if it does say BP#1. If you can think of a way of escaping without having to attack, then post that. I just put BP#1 because according to Bee and Chainy some time back, as long as someone attacks, it's a BP so... Not sure if that applies to this post, but anyway, it shouldn't make much of a difference if you get to think of a way to try to escape without battling.

    BP#1

"I rather keep going and get something a little bit more... Interesting." He shook his head, walking on ahead.

I nodded over to my Gallade, signaling to him that we would be moving along. He moved to a position in between the trainer and me with a bored-looking emotion on his face. There just wasn't anything interesting in this encounter, and probably even a battle wouldn't help the situation get exciting - Taither was right.

{Hey, hey. Be careful with what you're doing to those stones.} I shot Archer a warning through telephatic means. My blue-colored pupils had spotted him kicking a couple of pebbles westward, which was exactly where the Nosepass was. The teen did not want this creature, so I saw no logical reason to get its attention.

<Yeah, yeah,> the Psychic-Fighting-type replied, brushing off my cautioning advice. He continued to calcitrate at the rocks and soil. <I know what I'm doing; there's absolutely no need to worry. It's not like a stone's gonna grab the attention of that unmoving Rock-type.>

{It's not impossible... It still might have-} I continued telling him, stopping mid-sentence as I heard that sound... The sound you would hear if a stone hit something and sort of bounced back.

{I rest my case,} I muttered with a heavy sigh. The male trainer was not going to be happy with this.
Archer was not one to admit his mistake right away, though. That didn't matter too much now, however, since the Compass Pokemon had now turned to face us.

"Paass..." it called after us in a low grumble. I almost fell asleep - its voice had a monotonous tone. I groaned - Taither's first run, and this is what happens. Oh, this was not good. Not good, at all.

{Archer!!} I practically screamed in my head, my fists clenching quite a bit. Of all days he chooses to be this adamant, it had to be when I was on a Park run.

    <I... I... I stand corrected...?>

{Yeah, nice try, buddy,} I replied sarcastically as I tried to lead our party away from the wild creature.

What happened next though, was surprising and uncalled for. It leaped into the air slightly, coming down with a loud crash. Stomping its legs hard on the ground, it summoned rocks to emerge from the ground. The large rock protrusions quickly rose with dust and surrounded us, blocking our route of escape. We were trapped!

I turned back to glare at the Nosepass. The only way out, as of the moment, would be to quickly swerve around the organism and run out back the way we had entered. That would be risky, though, for we were quite a bit into the mountain already.

"Well, this certainly is an unpredictable scene - who would've thought, huh, Taither?" I tried to sound as cheerful as possible, but inside I was on the verge of boiling with rage. I told myself to calm down, and try to think of a way to get out of this.

"It's not going to be easy to get out of this one. Looks like the Rock-type wants to battle or something." I randomly threw out that comment. I asked the teen, "Got a plan?" Rangers weren't exactly allowed to help their trainers in this way during the run; we'd only step in if it was absolutely necessary. And while I did see it in that way, by Park policies and rules, it wasn't that bad yet. He'd have to try to get out of this one himself, even though it was my Blade Pokemon who caused the commotion.

With the plan set, we start walking around the Nosepass, completely oblivious to our existence in the caves with it. Sighing with relief, I continue to inch quietly along the far wall from the rock-type, making sure not to disturb any loose rocks under my feet or the wall next to me. Hopefully a battle in this tight spot can be avoided, but either way I should come up with a plan. No one could really get inside the mind of the Pokemon, besides the rangers Gallade. I'm sure this magnetic living rock would notice having its mind invaded, so I wasn't about to ask. Of course, I have my own team to rely on. Only problem with that, risking something this far away from the surface could prove very hazardous. If anything were to happen to Chompy while we were down here, escape would be left up to the ranger or we'd all be trapped. Once I was past the Compass Pokemons proximity, wiping the sweat off my brow. Without turning, I whisper back to my companions still working their way past.

"We're almost there, just be ca-"

Halfway through my sentence, a quite loud clink rang through the tunnel. It sounded almost like... No. Slowly turning around, the call of the Nosepass rose up slowly, echoing through the cave.

    "Paass..."

Multiple curses shoot through my mind. Looking back, the culprit was clearly the Blade Pokemon, kicking the loose stones around the cavern behind me. I was wondering what the noise was, but thought of it was the rock settling. Well, I'll know better than to let them behind me where I can't see them next time. Quickly reaching for one of the four orbs hanging from my belt, snatching up the one that could get us out of this tight spot.

    "Alright Ye, time to shine!"

Tossing the Pokeball a few feet away, the Nosepass waves its arms as they start to glow. Suddenly, giant stalagmites come rumbling out of the floor of the passageway, blocking us from continuing further down the path. Damn, now our only choice is to run ahead. While all of this is going on, the Raichu materializes from the ball in a bright light. His long tail swaying from side to side, a determined expression across its face. The little electric mouse puts up its arms, as if he were boxing. Small sparks of electricity shoot out of its cheeks, obviously ready to battle.

    "Chuuuuu..."

Raichu mutters, starting to hop up and down. I should really stop letting the little guy watch kickboxing... Nevertheless, he's ready to do some damage if the need arises. I'd like to get away, but it will be a tight squeeze. Since we've got a powerful electric-type with us, I could probably have him use that to our advantage, even though Ye would be at a disadvantage battling a rock-type, especially if Nosepass is clever enough to abuse the type weaknesses.

"Ye, we're going to try to escape. We're going to need another Flash."

Turning to the ranger and her Gallade, whispering as to not let the wild Pokemon to overhear our plan.

"Cover your eyes the best you can, we'll escape while its blinded by the light."

While I explain the plan to the rest of the group, Ye starts to charge up. Electricity emanating from his cheeks, still hopping in classic boxing form. Working out a strategy with Elisa, Ye continues to charge up electricity, assuming for the brightest Flash it could muster under the circumstances.

    OOC: afndsnfnr... damn dice rolls.

    BP#2

I could tell that Taither was as enraged as I was, if not more. But, he kept his cool, carefully thinking of an escape plan. He decided he would need his Electric-type for this again.

"Ye, We're going to try to escape. We're going to need another Flash." He then truned to me and Archer, letting us in on the plan. In a soft whispper, he explained, "Cover your eyes the best you can - we'll escape while its blinded by the light."

The Raichu charges up again, his cheeks sparking with electricity. I shut my eyes tight, my hands coming up to cover them as I heard the creature cry out, "CHUUU!!!!" That was the signal; he had lit up the cave with the strongest of flashes. I turned to run, my eyes still closed, too afraid to open them. I couldn't decide what was a greater risk - stumble upon rocks in the path since I couldn't see where I was going, or be blinded by the strong light. I figured it would be better to trip and fall than possibly wreck my retina.

Just as I had expected, my foot came in contact with a rather large rock. I lost my balance, tripping, but luckily, not tumbling down to the ground. "Ow, ow, oww..." I moaned, sortof hopping onwards on one leg as my hands clutched my aching foot. That stone had really been rock-solid. I felt someone grip my arm, steadying me so I wouldn't make such a fool of myself.

<Whoa, hold on there. You may have stumped your foot, but you should still be able to escape and move on. Or, at least, try to escape...> Archer sounded doubtful. His encouraging words were just what I needed, but that last part struck a chord. A lightbulb seemed to have went on all of a sudden, causing me to mentally smack myself. How had I not seen the loophole earlier? I might have been able to change the way things were going.

{Oh my god, we're going the wrong way!} I responded with a burst of realization.

The earlier Rock Tomb still blocked our path of escaping deeper into the mountain. I brought my hand forward, immediately touching the big boulder that prevented us from trudging onwards. If we had tried going the other way, the plan might have worked. If we had ran back out, the Nosepass probably wouldn't have the time to catch us.

"Taither, we've been going the wrong way..." I mumbled in a soft voice, barely audible to anyone except myself and maybe the trainer.

<There's no use... The wild Pokemon has noticed. It's coming in for an assault right now. Tackle on the Raichu.>

I nodded, I could just imagine the Rock-type charging in. It slammed into the Raichu with an audible thud, dealing a reasonable amount of damage. Another reason why the plan probably didn't work was the fact that the Compass Pokemon could just barely see to begin with. Perhaps a blinding flash of light was not the way to go about this dilemma.

{Archer, how's the light? Is it safe to open our eyes yet?} I asked the Blade Pokemon. He was the only one who could seemingly see under the gleaming circumstances thanks to his telekinetic powers. Or something.

I felt him tense through our connection as he surveyed the area while still keeping his eyes closed. It was as though he was feeling the place, seeing things in a different way. He drew in a long, slow breath. <I can't really tell...> he admitted remorsefully. <I believe it's okay. It has died down - that's for sure. Whether or not it will blind us, well that's a totally different matter. I'm not so sure about it, sorry.>

{Okay...} I said slowly. What were the chances that the light was still capable of destroying our sense of sight?

"Taither," I called the trainer, "we're going to have to think of another way out of here. Ye has been attacked by the Nospass, but hasn't been damaged a lot. I'm not sure if you can open your eyes yet, though."

    OOC: Poke Doll = 500
    2.25k - 500 = 1.75k

Wandering through the cave with the blinding Flash from Ye's electricity, a rock slips under my foot, causing my knee to fall into the rocks ahead of me. I scoff and rub the dirt off my pant leg before standing up, blinking as the Flash dies down. Seeing Ye a bit dirty with a dirt mark on his side, guessing from an attack by the Nosepass. Now that my plan failed, I decided that using a Raichu wasn't going to help us escape.

"Taither, we're going to have to think of another way out of here. Ye has been attacked by the Nospass, but hasn't been damaged a lot. I'm not sure if you can open your eyes yet, though."

I heard the ranger call out to me. Still blinking to get my eyes to adjust to the point that I could discern what was around me, I start moving towards the ranger. Thinking on my short trip across the tunnel, kneeling next to her and the Gallade.

"Alright, I really rather not fight it in here. I'm kind of at a disadvantage. Chompy won't help much, either. May I buy a Poke Doll for this little nuisance?"

Asking Elisa, softly speaking as I pull the Ye's ball off my belt, calling out to the little electric mouse to dodge the attacks by the living rock until I can get the cuddly toy to it. Hopefully we can avoid any more damage dealt to Ye, since I may need him for later fights.

I heard Taither crouch down beside me, as well as the clicking sound as he took a Pokeball off his belt. "Alright, I really rather not fight it in here. I'm kind of at a disadvantage. Chompy won't help much, either. May I buy a Poke Doll for this little nuisance?"

"Sure," I replied as I opened my brown messenger bag. I rummaged through it, using only my sense of touch in case it was still too bright in the cave. My palm soon closed around a soft plush toy, and I took the risk of opening my eyes. I blinked furiously a couple of times, trying to adjust to the sudden surge of glimmering light. It wasn't as bad as I had expected it to be, and I was certain my optic nerves were still working properly.

I handed the trainer the pink-colored doll, in exchange for a meager amount of cash. The money would be sent to the Ranger Headquarters, not at all affecting the wage of the Rangers. The teen tossed the toy towards the wild Rock-type, who seemed to be content with playing with an inanimate object. It turned away from us, trudging sideways for its electromagnetic body was being pulled to face the North like a needle of a compass.

"Alright, we'd better move on," I said, turning to face our next challenge. No, not another creature but rocks. As in, the real rocks this time.

{Archer, a Psycho Cut should be enough to slice up those stones.} My Gallade nodded as he charged up, Psychic-typed energy coursing through him until his arms.

His forearms glowed a light blue hue, and both of them grew and extended at the back and front. He repeatedly swung his blades multiple times rapidly, releasing a barrage of sharp, crescent-shaped blades flying through the air. This was not all, though. While the rocks at our left side crumbled under the impact with the light blue rings of energy, the Psychic-Fighting-type them jumped into action, targeting the opposite line of rocks. With his arms still glimmering light blue, he slashed at the remaining protrusions. He tore through the obstacles, slice after slice, until we could see a clear path in front of us.

[font="Palatino Linotype"]<That was... A bit more tiring than usual,> the Blade Pokemon admitted slowly.

{That's probably because you performed two variations of the attack. You did an awesome job, though!} I flashed him a grateful grin, before stepping over the last vestiges of the rubble.

We traveled deeper into Mount Deckbi, soon coming across a fork in the road. The two options looked almost perfectly the same - I remembered this one for I had passed this route on one of my previous trips. One headed upward, the other downward and deeper towards the core of the volcano. "Which path would you like to take?" I asked Taither after fiddling with my RDA so I could see the map I had made of Deckbi.

Watching as the wild pokemon latches onto the pink plush doll, recalling Ye back to his Pokeball, just as the psychic-type accompanying Elisa lets out a glowing blue wave, slashing the boulders blocking our way into pieces. Quickly, I cover my face as to not get any debris where it would be bothersome. After all that was said and done, I start to walk with the Ranger down the path deeper into the caves. Letting out a sigh of relief as to not having to waste time on the rock, and adjusting my eyes back to the brightness of the tunnel. We continued down the tunnel for quite awhile, not really talking all that much besides small blurbs of words to help each other get by any large rock outcroppings or slight dips in the trail that showed to be a bit hazardous to an oblivious traveler. The temperature in the caves slowly warmed, apparently coming closer to the magma flowing through the rock underneath the active volcano. Wiping a small bead of sweat off my brow, as Elisa stopped suddenly in front of me. I jerk to a sudden stop to avoid crashing into her back. She turns to me as I notice a fork in the tunnel ahead of us.

"Which path would you like to take?"

She asked me, my hands folding across my chest, pondering the question at hand. I wasn't very knowledgeable of where either path lead, and I couldn't really figure which way went where. The heat felt just about the same from both directions, and for all I knew they could all lead to the molten core of the mountain. Shaking my head, walking in front of her to look down both tunnels. Turning back to her, unfolding my arms and point down a path.

"I think we should take the left path. Seems a little more interesting to me."

I say to her, smiling. To be honest, both paths looked just as interesting as the other. I just couldn't find any reasons to pick one over the other, so I left it up to a mental coin toss to decide for me.

Taither folded his hands across his chest in deep thought. He glanced into both tunnels, seemingly inspecting them. He shook his head as if in defeat - I figured he couldn't really decide on which way would prove to be more interesting.

"I think we should take the left path. Seems a little more interesting to me," he said, pointing down one of the caves.

"Okay then," I agreed, leading him through that choice. I looked on ahead - the route winded upwards. I was definitely certain that this tunnel would lead us upwards, towards the peak of Mount Deckbi. What I wasn't sure of, though, was how long it would take us to reach the top. I wasn't even sure if I - actually, we - wanted to get to that destination quickly or slowly. I figured it didn't matter too much, all I had to make sure of, after all, was that Taither would enjoy this expedition.

We hiked upwards for a few moments, and once in a while, the road got a bit steeper, then reverted back to an easier slope. Our next encounter made a rather exciting and enthusiastic entrance - at least, compared to the meeting with the earlier Nosepass.

The dark gray-colored creature had come zipping down towards us, its four stubby legs propelling it at quite a speed. It had a round body and a large, round head, which held pale blue eyes. Portions of steel armor covered its head, legs, and back - where a single spike protruded out of it, also clad in metal. Throughout the Iron Armor Pokemon's body were small openings in the armor: three of them on its head - one, the largest, being the opening for its eye; and then one was on its back below the spike.

<Better watch out there. With one all-out charge, this Pokémon can demolish even a heavy dump truck,> Archer warned me. I could only nod as I brought up my RDA to scan the entity.

It was an Aron, I knew that. I also knew there was much to learn about this being. "Aron, the Iron Armor Pokémon. Aron has an impressive defense power and eats iron ore in order to build up as well as sustain the iron metal in its body. With one all-out charge, this Pokémon can demolish even a heavy dump truck. It usually lives deep in mountains. However, hunger may drive it to descend from the mountains to eat railroad tracks, bridges and cars."

"Ah, I see - it might be hungry then," I said, voicing my thoughts out. I turned to the male teen. "Here's an interesting little critter, and it's partially Rock-type, as well. Want to battle it?"

    "Okay then,"

I heard Elisa say, accepting my choice in direction to take. Nodding, moving to the side and lifting my arm, allowing her to take the lead. I wouldn't know if there are any hazards to watch out for, and I rather avoid falling into them while leading the expedition. Following close behind, walking along the tunnel as it starts to incline. I start to wonder if this choice would actually bring us closer to the peak, and possibly to the volcano opening. The temperature didn't seem to rise much, which I sighed in relief over. The last thing I wanted was the tunnel becoming too hot to stand. After awhile of walking, the pathway evened out and lost its incline, flattening and then re-obtaining a much easier slope. At this point, the ranger stopped and turned to me, taking out her device and scanning a shadowed figure that seemed to be trying to ram into anything it found to crash into. moving slightly away from the middle of the path.

The Pokedex-like device chimed out in a slightly digitized voice. An Aron, a very feisty one at that. This is exactly something I was hoping to find. Thankfully it showed up so early, since I figured it would take a lot of time to find something I really wanted to keep.

"Ah, I see - it might be hungry then,"

I heard Elisa mumble out loud, while I was thinking to myself about the dual Steel-rock type in front of us. Turning to me, she spoke out a bit more confidently towards me.

"Here's an interesting little critter, and it's partially Rock-type, as well. Want to battle it?"

Of course, I hurriedly tell her exactly what I was thinking.

"Yes, definitely! This is something I'd love to bring home with me."

Smiling, I turn my attention to the Pokemon in question. Flaring my vest out behind me, cheesily trying to make my start a little more dramatic, my hand grasping one of my Pokeballs. With a swift, flowing motion, my arm swings out and releases the orb.

"You got this, Swampert! Take it down for me!"

A white llight oozes from the ball, shooting up and expanding from the ground and taking shape. As it dissipates, the dark blue Water-Ground type emerges, stomping its large back leg down on the ground in an attempt to be intimidating, pulling its front paws back and into fists. My smile quickly becomes a smirk at the sight of my Pokemon showing such enthusiasm in battling the Aron. With a split second to usher in a command before the little iron critter and zip in and smack into Swampert, I'll have to think of something.

"Alright Swampert, I want you to start off with a Mud Bomb when it tries to dash at you. Land it right on his head!"

Calling out, hoping that the Aron will make a hasty attempt at a straightforward takedown, but I have a feeling it will be left up to luck.

OOC: Really sorry for the long delay... Gender of Aron?

    BP#1

Almost immediately and in a seemingly hurried manner, Taither enthusiastically shouted back in reply, "Yes, definitely! This is something I'd love to bring home with me." I smiled then took a step or two back to give them enough room to battle. His reaction didn't surprise me particularly for Aggron could really be rather useful on one's team. In fact, even if they were only in their Basic stage, they were already quite powerful.

The trainer made quite a dramatic entrance to start off the bout. He took a step forward with great force, allowing breezes of wind to brush past him. His spread his arms out, though not fully but just enough for a confident demeanor to radiate off him. With this stance, his vest had flared out showing off a somewhat powerful profile. His hand quickly grabbed a Pokeball, then tossed it towards the ground right before the feisty Aron.

"You got this, Swampert! Take it down for me!" He summoned out his partner. With the usual burst of white light, the Mud Fish Pokemon emerged, blocking the passageway of the small-in-comparison wild encounter. He let out a growl of courage, the purpose being to try and intimidate the competition.

The Iron Armor Pokemon snarled back at him, as if to say, "Let me pass, you big lump! I must get my food." It dashed to one side of the Water-Ground-type, then to the other, looking for a possible escape route. Swampert's body was, indeed, massive - gigantic enough to become the, er, ultimate obstacle for this entity. There was no escaping this fight, the Rock-Steel-type had realized at last as it let out a cry of defiance. It was time to clash.

"Alright Swampert, I want you to start off with a Mud Bomb when it tries to dash at you. Land it right on his head!" He gathered up his energy, allowing a turmoil of mud to rise up to his throat. He opened his mouth to release a large glob of brown muck at the foe. He then spat out a couple more balls of mud - this set of bombs smaller in comparison to the first fire. The murky blobs rained down on the furious creature's head, dealing a considerable amount of damage. Even though it already had a thick exterior shell, the assault still managed to drain a solid amount of its health for Ground-typed moves were very effective against it.

It began to shimmer in a strong silver hue. Steel-typed energy flowed from him, glimmering in the cavern. Through this process, it was getting stronger. Its defenses were tightening up - against physical attacks, at least. Its exoskeleton continued to grow harder and stronger. In a moment, the glow began to fade. It flickered one last time, then vanished with a sparkle. The being's defenses were up and would manage to lower mobility much more now.

The Aron wasn't done yet, however. It charged at Taither's partner quickly, putting all of its strength into this one tackle. It slammed into him hard and intensely, looking to deal a good amount of damage. However, due to the specimen's bulk, the attack didn't do as much damage as the wild entity would have wanted. It tried to drive its target to the ground, but it could only do as much as push a couple of feet backwards. The Mud Fish Pokemon did flinch a bit at the force of the impact. The Steel-Rock-Pokemon was also strong and heavy - it was just enough to deal a reasonable amount of damage to Swampert. Take Down should have dealt some recoil damage (as we call it) to the attacker, but, thanks to its Rock Head ability, the Iron Armor Pokemon still felt energized and strong enough to continue the bout.

    OOC: Male please. ^^y

Large globs of mud splatter all over the steel type creature, knocking it off balance and causing quite a bit of damage. Almost right after the first volley landed, Swampert threw out another burst, the bombs being slightly smaller than the first round. Mud covered the light steel shell of the Aron, oozing over the smooth metal and splattering to the ground. Swampert seemed content with the effectiveness of its attack, and gave a weak stomp into the dirt to confirm its feelings. As soon as the mud dripped to the ground, steel-type energy started to flow through the enemy Pokemons small frame, ending with the Arons skin hardening, becoming much more durable. Although its defense was now beefed up, it would have a bit of trouble moving around as agile as before. Without a second thought, the little ironhead rushed at Swampert, attempting a risky takedown. The hard skull of the Aron slams into Swamperts abdomen, causing my partner to slide backwards a couple feet and flinch at the heavy little critter trying to drag him to the ground. I even flinched a little as the attack connected, hoping that my Swampert would shake it off. He soon did, and stomped quickly to grip the ground under him, ready to reciprocate.

"Alright Swampert, now since he's in so close, grab it in your hands and use a Water Gun attack!"

As soon as my command reached his ears, Swampert reached down and grabbed the Steel-Rock type and lifted it, albeit strenuously. He let out a quick 'Perrrrt!" as water started to gather in his mouth from the air around us. Slowly building up water in his storage organs, while smalls streams of water appear in the air, flowing into Swamperts mouth and down his throat. The small pokemon struggles relentlessly against Swamperts large hands, but he holds on tightly, making sure to keep a good grip on the smooth steel armor. Even with how smooth it was, Arons' small rounded back spikes gave Swampert something to grab hold of to keep the steel-type in place. A couple times Swampert lost grip with one hand, but quickly resumed his dominance over the struggle and gripped one of the enemy pokemons legs. Once he was done storing as much water he possibly could before the Aron could wriggle out of his grasp, he lets loose a decent-sized stream of pressured water from his mouth, aimed straight at the enemies' face.

Since the wild entity had not retreated, Taither saw this as an opportunity. "Alright Swampert, now since he's in so close, grab it in your hands-" At first, I thought he'd try for a physical attack even though the opponent's defenses were already up. I was proved to be wrong, though, when he commanded, "-and use a water gun attack!"

Immediately, the Water-Ground-type grabbed the Aron, lifting him up to face level. They were eye-to-eye now, and he squirmed defiantly, trying to wriggle his way out of the larger creature's tight grip. The Mud Fish Pokemon opened his muzzle, pushing out blast of cold liquid. The water was sort of vortex like as it traveled through the air for a split-second before crashing into the Steel-Rock-type. It came over him like a large tidal wave, soaking - no, drenching him in the cool water. He hadn't prepared himself for an attack like this - no, not at all. He shook his head, spraying droplets everywhere. The trainer's partner dropped the Iron Armour Pokemon thereafter, possibly hurting him a bit more as well.

"A-ronn!" he shouted back at his enemy. Based on context, I guessed it could mean something like, "How dare you drop me like that!"

He closed his eyes to focus, gathering energy from deep within himself. The front-most part of his head began to glow, shimmering silver in the darkness of the cave. Steel-typed power coated his hard head, making it stronger, tougher. Then, with a one, quick movement, his eyes flicked open - suddenly filled with a bursting gleam of combat... He butted the opposing Pokemon swiftly, aiming straight at the chest. With one forceful push, he had already dealt a solid amount of damage to Swampert. Somehow, sometimes, you just couldn't compete with the rigidness of steel and metal - especially in this case. Iron Head was the name of this assault, as I recalled, and it was somewhat like the Steel-typed version of the Normal-typed Headbutt.

Now, he summoned the Rock genes within him. He concentrated more on his connection, his link, with the rocks and boulders in his surroundings. He connected with nature. He could just feel it - dust, stones, pointed or round edges... All it needed now was a little push - a small nudge to get it all started. He willed the cavern rocks to move in the way he wanted them to - tumbling straight towards the Mud Fish Pokemon.

Then there was trouble. At first, it was only a small pebble - but that was enough to keep it running; and it was enough to make the Water-Ground-type suddenly very alert and aware of what was happening around him... But, it was too late. That small piece of rock had pulled the trigger for the others to come right after it. They slid, one after the other, down the slopes of the tunnels walls.

This didn't look good... Who knew how much time Taither had to make a quick decision to try and stop this landslide of boulders before something dangerous could happen. I held back a gulp, and I thought positive thoughts. The teen could do this... Besides, if he needed help, I was allowed to interfere - except not right away and the things I could do were also limited.

Right when the stream of water spewing from Swamperts mouth ended, the ground-water type dropped the enemy suddenly, making the small steel type crash into the ground and seemingly bounce from the force of its own weight hitting the hard ground beneath them. The Pokemon let out a cry, almost as if to curse Swampert for the sudden release that caught it off guard. Almost instantly after smacking into the ground, the Aron flipped and caught the ground under its feet. The metallic shine of its helmet-like steel surrounding the enemy Pokemons head started to glow brightly, only its eyes really visible through the light emanating from its skull. The small steel-headed critter suddenly rushed Swampert, smashing its head right into my partners chest before he had a chance to react. Swampert slid backwards from the force of the Iron Head attack. Swamperts feet held the ground, but still ripped back, creating equal ditches from where his feet were to where they now stood. A wincing look was plastered on my Pokemons face, the attack obviously hurt quite a bit. Right away the small creature started to power up again, this time the glowing came from his eyes. Instead of a direct physical attack, it seems that the Aron switched to using a less obvious form of assault. Now was the time to have Swampert move, and jump to the defensive until I could figure out exactly what was happening.

"Swampert, brace yourself and watch your surroundings!"

My partners earlike fins perked up at the sound of my voice, jumping to action right away. Swamperts forearms jerk up in front of him in almost a karate-like stance. His head moving side to side, trying to find something out of the ordinary. Not long after, I can tell he spotted a small rock moving off of the wall. He easily evades it as it zips off, aimed roughly towards him. I almost congratulate my Pokemon, but the low rumbling coming from where the rock originated stopped me. Now there was quite a large group of dangerous boulders coming down around us. Noticing this, Swampert starts to look panicky, along with the opposing Pokemon; he probably didn't plan this. My mind races to find a way to escape being buried under large jagged rocks. There wasn't much any of my other Pokemon could do to stop them, but escape was possible if I wanted to lose the chance at the wild Aron. I didn't want to rely on Elisa, either. I knew she was obligated to help if her trainer wasn't capable of saving them, but my pride wouldn't allow me to bow down without at least trying to save my hide. While sidetracking about my ranger partner, a plan popped into my mind. Ice. I didn't question why Elisa would remind me of ice, but Swampert did know some useful abilities that he couldn't learn on his own. One of which I think would help us out for the time being. We would have to hurry, though. The heat in the caves might not give us much time to get out of the way before we became a late lunch for whatever scavengers might dwell in the cave.

"Alright Swampert, use Ice Beam to freeze the boulders in place! It will at least buy us some time."

Halfway through the command, I turned towards Elisa, trying to direct the last part at her more so than Swampert. I figured I'd want to answer any questions before they were asked to save the time to get out of the way of the boulders before the ice melted away. My attention turned back to Swampert, who already started building up ice-type energy. His head fins were glowing a very light blue color to signify the summoning of power. With an intimidating cry, my Pokemon let loose a powerful and continuous stream of ice energy from his mouth, flowing up from the ground and catching the boulders, covering them in a thick sheet of ice. Hopefully Swampert calculated enough to make the ice thick enough to take the force of the boulders and not crack or shatter the ice before we can move. Without wasting any time, I issue my next command to Swampert.

"After the boulders are stopped, make a rush at the Aron with a show of Strength!"

“Alright Swampert, use Ice Beam to freeze the boulders in place!” Taither called out to his partner after a moment or two of quick-thinking. He then turned toward me slightly, directing what he said next to me as well as his Pokemon. “It will at least buy us some time."

I nodded - the plan was logical and I believed it would work. It all just depended on how much ice the Water-Ground-type could produce. He was brave, though, so I figured he wouldn’t panic, and would be able to execute the command flawlessly.

He opened his mouth, and two orbs of Ice energy quickly formed in front of him. He sent them flying in two directions soon after - it was hurried, but he was confident the spheres had enough power. Both burst into erratic beams of their own, one to the left and one to the right of the Mud Fish Pokemon. They looked much like lightning bolts, except they were cold and were made up of ice.

Both streaks created strong sheets of ice energy to block the tumbling boulders. Most of the rocks froze as well upon contact with the obstacles. The beams continued to morph into an Ice screen, making it grow stronger and bigger with every passing second. Fortunately, the power and energy the Swampert had put into the move had been enough to support the weight and force of impact of the stones.

The trainer quickly ordered for another assault - this time a Fighting-typed move called Strength. The Water-Ground-type quickly grabbed the wild entity. He raised the Iron Armor Pokemon up above his head, shaking him a bit for a somewhat dramatic effect. He gathered up a bit more of his energy to make sure this attack would deal a severe amount of damage - nothing too extreme that it would knock the Aron out, but nothing too light either.

Pushing all his power into his forearms, he threw the target downwards, smashing him against the rocky ground of the cave. I thought his exterior shell would crack from the impact, but I should’ve known better. For one thing, the Rock-Steel-type had a really tough outer covering - the alloy made really was strong and tough. The Iron Defense from earlier also played a significant role as well. And, for another thing, Taither’s Pokemon knew exactly how much power was needed to deal a major amount of damage but still not overdoing it.

The collision, though, did, in the end, send the wild organism tumbling as a sortof follow-through. He lay splat on the ground, seemingly unmoving. I thought, for a second, he was unconscious or only subconscious. Turns out, he was simply waiting and resting for a moment or two. The crash had hurt him for sure, and thus he had needed a few minutes to “breathe” and regain a bit of his lost strength.

He slowly rose to his feet, almost stumbling back down as he tried to regain his footing and balance. He inhaled in a sharp intake of breath, slowly powering himself up for what was perhaps the final blow he might just be able to snag in. He could barely walk, much less run, yet he pushed on. He dashed straight towards his larger opponent, tackling it with all the strength he could muster.

He used up the last of his energy trying to slam into the Mud Fish Pokemon hard. He bounced back slightly from the impact, then slumped back down on the ground in defeat. His chest heaved up and down - it was evident that he was tired and weak; just ripe for the capture.

The well-placed Ice Beam attack caught the rocks and held them in place, much to my enjoyment. Now with them stable, Swampert rushed the small creature, picking it up over his head, tensing his upper body, and rushing the Aron towards the ground with all his might. The Steel-Rock type could only attempt to brace itself as it hurtled towards the rocky passageway floor. With a loud smack, the tiny Pokemon crashed into the ground, leaving a small crater from the force of the impact. Surprisingly, it struggled to its feet and channeled all the strength it could muster for one last tackle towards Swampert. It connected, but seemed rather weak. The last ditch effort didn't seem to bother Swampert all that much, and the Aron realized this. It collapsed, completely exhausted and unable to keep itself on its feet. It looked at my partner, then at me. It was as if it conceded with a bit of a grudge. I smirked, knowing that that fiery temper of his will help it grow into a strong competitor in my care. Reaching behind my back, I swiftly unclip an empty Parkball off my belt. Raising it, I call out to my Swampert and the little critter, to help them both relax a little.

"Alright Swampert, good job! Now we can all relax."

With that, the Parkball rolls off the ends of my fingers, tumbling through the air towards the weakened Pokemon. It connects with the forehead of the IronHead Pokemon, snapping open and engulfing it with a shining light. Rushing into the ball, it snaps back closed and plops down in the dirt. It wiggles around lazily, showing that the Aron really wasn't putting up a strong fight. Hopefully it wasn't still strong enough to break free, and the Pokemon will be mine to raise.
