"Elisa!"
"Yeah? What's up?" I asked our receptionist as politely and as not irritatedly as possible. It still came out in a semi-impatient and semi-bored tone of voice, though.
"There's a trainer in the Great Lakes who needs a replacement ranger, now. You go immediately," she ordered.
I sighed heavily. Our secretaries were constantly changing every one in a while. And if I thought Madison was bad - which I did, a little, by the way - this one was far worse. Madison was a rather flirty type of girl, but the new one was snotty, arrogant, bossy, and just plain unlikeable. That's considering I didn't mind our former receptionist that much. I didn't even know what her name was yet! Oh, and, yes, the boys were all heart-broken and stuff. Haha, more fun for Ivy and me!
"Hmm... The Great Lakes, huh? I haven't been there in a while," I said out loud, voicing out my thoughts thoughtfully - but not really that interested. "But, isn't--"
"Great, you'll do it! Trainer file, sent," she replied, running out of my office hurriedly. What's up with her? I thought.
"Hey, wait! I didn't agree on anything! Isn't there anyone else here?" I called after her desperately, in a very much begging tone. "Leo? Ivy? Chainy? Joe? Jack? Buzz? Or even our newest ranger?" I tried my best, but failed miserably. She shouted back a simple "No."
I sighed again, rolling my eyes. Fine then, I'd do it. And I wasn't even finished with all the paperwork I had to do. At least I wasn't going to one of the mountains again.
I looked at my wrist where my yellow-colored RDA - Ranger's Digital Assistant - was strapped around perfectly. It was currently in its wrist-watch-like form. I checked that the file was, indeed, sent with one push of an orange button. I decided I would read about him later on.
I began stuff my brown shoulder bag with Pokedolls, Emergency Supplies, as well as a notebook. I looked at the Pokeballs on my office's desk, deciding on which of my Pokemon I would bring. One of them had to be a water type. After a few moments of debating with myself, I finally decided on three. And they were Kipper, my Swampert, Azalea, my Azumarill, and Icabella, my Glaceon.
I went straight to the Docks itself, coming from the Ranger Outpost. I called out Kipper from his housing. He greeted me happily, growling as he stretched his muscles and limbs - he hadn't been out of the red-and-white sphere in a while now. I hopped on to him, telling him to go to the Great Lakes. I figured surfing - as they all like to call it - my way there would be faster than flying, or running. And I was right. We got to the Lakes' river in no time at all.
"Great job, Kipper! You really are the best," I told my Swampert, praising and thanking him as I patted his neck appreciatively. I returned him to his ball before taking a look around the area.
The zone was amazingly beautiful, just like how I remembered it the last time I had gone here. That was on my first run as a ranger, taking over an expedition from one of my colleagues, Joe. My first and most recent run are both in the Great Lakes, where I'm just a replacement ranger. Cool, but weird in some sense.
I took a quick glance at his file, learning that his name was Sam. He had brought a Linoone, a Swampert, and a Lanturn. In my own personal opinion, it wasn't the best three choices - but I guess it wasn't too bad. At least he had two part-water types that would be useful when battling in water, and not just on the damp grass. The file also said that his original ranger left him while he was in mid-battle with a Poliwag.
That should be easy enough. My sky blue eyes scanned the area again, looking for a lone male trainer that had either a Swampert, Lanturn, or Linoone, and was battling a Poliwag. I spotted him soon enough, walking quickly over.
I tapped him on the shoulder, saying a quick hello. I then introduced myself, keeping it short and simple. I really wasn't that good with introductions, and I liked to keep them short and pretty much straight to the point.
I stepped aside, giving some "breathing room" for Sam and the battle at hand. I strained my eyes to see through the thick mist, which - I figured - was done by the Poliwag.
The Lanturn's orb-shaped antennae were glowing a bright yellow color. I glanced at her with a rather confused expression on my face. I did not know any attack that this creature knew that was performed in this manner. I went through a list of all the attacks a Light Pokemon could possibly learn in every plausible way, as well as all the information I knew about the entity. Then, I remembered the ability Illuminate, it was one a Lanturn could have - the other being Volt Absorb. That was it! Pretty thoughtful of the trainer to remember the ability of the Pokemon, no?
The yellow light helped. However, it did not completely clear out the fog. It was lifting, and was definitely thinner now, though - which was a good thing. Well, it was better than nothing.
Delta, as Sam called her, began to gather energy for her next move. Her antennae were glowing again, this time in the color of purple. A purple aura floated around her, which soon formed into a ray of bright violet light. It zapped straight to the Tadpole Pokemon, who was taken aback by the sudden, though light, impact. It affected the target mentally, causing him to become very dazed and dizzy.
With a confused expression on his face, the wild creature swam about in circles, swishing his tail back and forth. He seemed to be focusing on the Lanturn through the thinning mist, then charged at her. In a moment, he had began to slap her with all his might - using his tail. The hits were consecutive, each of them dealing a mild amount of damage. Fortunately for the teen's Pokemon, she had only been slapped thrice.
The Water type swam back, away from the Lanturn, as he prepared another move. He looked back at the enemy, making sure to make eye-contact, then his eyes began to glow a bright blue hue. Suddenly, circular rings, which were slightly transparent, began to emerge from the pupils. They were light blue in color, a bit like my eyes, and were headed straight for the Water-Electric-type.
"Watch out! That's a Hypnosis attack!" I quickly shouted to Sam, warning him of Poliwag's latest move. If the trainer would not act fast enough, those rings should soon find their way to his Pokemon - affecting her.

OOC:When describing the attacks/moves, please do not say that they hit, because it is our (the rangers) job to decide. Same goes with throwing Parkballs when you try to capture the Pokemon. If you have questions about the Park (since your RP was before the Revamp, I think), feel free to ask over OOC or drop me a VM/PM/IM.Lanturn charged up energy in the bulbs located on her antennae by using her energy source. The electricity pumped through her veins like blood flows through the human body, and once it reached the yellow bulbs, started to glow. The energy continued to pulse through her body to complete the circuit. It was simple science.
Once she had lit the area up, Lanturn released a swirling beam of energy out of her mouth. Since it was in the water, it only looked like a few ripples and a couple of bubbles, but to the Poliwag, it seemed a lot worse, giving it a nauseating headache, living it disorientated.
