    OOC: Male, please.

    ~~~~~
    Fwoosh.
    My Togekiss, Melisand, understood the command I had given her completely; without wasting anymore time the Jubilee Pokémon surged forward, heading straight for the spherical body of the Avianoid Pokémon which floated a few feet away from her. The Togekiss’s wings were first to blur out due to her incredible speed, followed by the rest of her body apart from her center crest, but in truth this happened so fast that if I was positioned farther away from Melisand I’d have thought I’ve seen her become a blur as a whole the moment she executed the Extremespeed attack.
    Not wanting to lose track of the battle between the two Flying-type Pokémon, I commanded Hicarus, my Dragonite, to follow Melisand as she swiftly moved towards the Sigilyph. I had to be really alert and watch out for the Togekiss; she had battled a lot during my run here at the National Park, and I didn’t want her to get knocked out. To be honest I started to doubt whether my decision of sending her out to battle again was wise; my Dragonite knew Extremespeed too, so my conscience was burdening me with slight guilt. I felt that the Togekiss was tired from battling a Murkrow and a Drifblim, so I just hope she wouldn’t get too hurt from whatever the Avianoid would dish out at her.
    Hicarus and I were at least five feet away from Melisand and the peculiar Psychic-Flying type when she had made contact with it; the graceful Jubilee Pokémon collided crest-first with the Sigilyph, which gave a jingle of cries when Melisand had hit it. I urged my Dragonite to follow the two battling Pokémon, as the Elite Ranger signaled for me and confirmed that he understood what I was planning: I was hoping that Melisand could force the Avianoid Pokémon to crash into the rocky peak that stood ahead of us, so I can battle the Psychic-type with my Houndoom.
    Chainy and his stern-looking Staraptor went for the craggy mountain peak in which my Togekiss had thrust the Sigilyph into with her Extremespeed, as I did the same on Hicarus.
    I couldn’t really tell at the time if the Sigilyph received much damage from Melisand’s attack, but she had done enough so that the Avianoid was where I wanted it to be.
    “Quickly now,” I shouted for the Jubilee Pokémon. “Melisand, hurry before—“
    But her tiredness was becoming more evident; she was not able to return to me without the Sigilyph attacking her. An energy beam, multicolored as though it was made up of shards of different crystals and gems, hit Melisand square on her right wingjoint. She writhed in pain as the Psybeam zapped her. I did not realize my hold on Hicarus was growing even tighter… The Togekiss flew towards me, lopsided, and with an irregular flapping pattern in her wings.
    What had my Pokédex said about Sigilyph earlier?
    “Sigilyph use their psychic power to attack enemies…”
    So this was its psychic power…
    “Sigilyph, sigi-sigi-sigi,” the shiny Avianoid Pokémon muttered from near the craggy peak.
    “I’m sorry, Melisand,” I said apologetically while I tapped her gently with the Great Ball. “You take a long rest; Scorne can carry on from here.”
    “Togekiss…” she had not lost her melodic voice, although she said this with an air of great exhaustion. The bruise she had received from the Drifblim’s Sucker Punch was still fresh.
    The blue-capped Pokéball swallowed the Jubilee Pokémon in a red light, and after closing and restoring it to marble-size I returned the spherical device to my belt.
    “Hicarus, max speed,” I said strongly to the Dragonite.
    “Kairyu!” she bellowed, and along with Chainy on Broadblade we surged towards the craggy peak; the wind brushed against my face like soft whips of air.
    I quickly got off from the orange dragon as soon as we landed on the rocky peak. With haste I threw the first Pokéball I ever laid my hands on, and from it came a beam of red which slowly took a canine shape.
    I fixed my eyes on the electric-green Sigilyph, flying near a raised rock spire in the peak Chainy and I just landed on. The red light from Scorne’s Pokéball faded, revealing the terrifying form of the Houndoom.
    Ram-horned, bone-clad and dangerous, Scorne gave a howl of terror, completing his entrance.
    “We’re battling for real this time,” I told the Fire-type, reminding him of our encounter with the feisty Rufflet earlier on my run. “I need you to take down that Sigilyph’s health so I’ll be able to capture it.”
    Scorne looked back for a second, and with his fiery red eyes he confirmed that he understood.
    The Sigilyph was bobbing strangely in the air again, giving off some shrill hoots from time to time.
    “Now, partner, fire up a Dark Pulse!” I shouted, knowing that ranged attacks would be better than trying to battle the Avianoid head on. I had it near land, yes, but the Shiny Sigilyph undoubtedly was still able to fly.
    Scorne roared.
    Hicarus gave no cheer of encouragement; I had expected this since the two didn’t exactly get along well, but still respected each other. The Dragonite walked by my side as the hellhound opened his maw, showing his rows of fangs, as particles of dark matter started forming from within it…
    “Houndooooom!”
    As soon as Melisand pulled up alongside the speeding Hicarus, her form converted itself into red light and was sucked away as Nick returned her to her PokeBall. I was glad he'd made that choice - Psychic-types were tricky to battle, and Sigilyph was not an exception. If anything, it would be even trickier because Sigilyph also had access to the almost-as-tricky Flying-type movepool.
    Hicarus and Nick landed on the crag a couple seconds before Broadblade and I did, and Nick came out swinging. It took him no time at all to summon out his Houndoom. I had almost forgotten he had one - the Outer Heavens were not kind to land-bound Pokemon.
    “We’re battling for real this time. I need you to take down that Sigilyph’s health so I’ll be able to capture it. Now, partner, fire up a Dark Pulse!” Nick commanded.
    The Houndoom howled and started to growl with his mouth open up at the gently swaying Sigilyph. Black flames began to lick the canine's teeth and after a couple of seconds they sprayed up into the air, reaching for the Sigilyph. I'd never seen a Dark Pulse take this form before - usually it was foul mental energy released in waves - but this form made sense considering the hellhound background of the Houndoom. The black flames struck the Sigilyph and caught it alight. The Sigilyph made a distressed-sounding creeeeeen noise as it flailed around, trying to put the fire out. While it was doing so, the rock spire that we were standing on started to shake, and a few boulders detached from the spires' sides. They hovered up into the air before smashing into Scorne, knocking him sprawling onto his side. The flames had gotten smaller but they hadn't gone out entirely - this Dark Pulse was definitely the most effective form that I'd ever seen.
    ~~~~~

    The Houndoom craned his neck upwards, and gave out a hair-raising howl, which was gloomy and frightening beyond words. Scorne’s howl echoed and bounced on the rocky ground we were standing on, and when he had raised his neck, sunlight hit the skull-like pendant on his chest, causing the skull’s eyes to glow sable-bright. I saw the spherical body of the Avianoid Pokémon, Sigilyph, slightly cringing from the Houndoom’s call, and I must say I was worried it would flee, as my Pokédex had informed me early on in my journey that “Pokémon get the shivers and head straight back to their nests upon hearing its eerie howls.”

    I wouldn't blame any little Pokémon to run away upon hearing a Houndoom's call; even some superstitous humans once believed that a Houndoom's howl was the Grim Reaper beckoning someone... Wizened civilians, especially those from the Johto Region, also believed that a Houndoom howling was an omen for death...

    Although seemingly bothered by Scorne’s echoing roar, the electric-green Sigilyph did not retreat to its nest or hovel—it shook off any trace of fear and assumed a steadfast pose, looking like an unflinching stalwart. I then recalled my Pokédex telling me earlier that Sigilyph were once guardians of some ancient city, so I guess this one was guarding the area, which was presumably where the forgotten civilization lied. Either that or this particular Avianoid was just lost, although I doubted that, seeing as their species never change their flight patterns and migration routes…

    Could this rocky peak hold the route towards some undiscovered, long forgotten civilization? It could be a marvelous discovery; perhaps it might even pave the way for another traveling location here at the National Park… Could these series of rock-spire formations lead to the fabled and mythical city of Ancient Pokémopolis, which was supposedly the home for gargantuan-sized Pokémon? Only I recall Professor Elm once telling me that Pokéarcheologists believe that that ancient city was somewhere near Pallet Town, in Kanto… and we’re miles away from that Region… Or perhaps this Shiny Sigilyph was guarding the remnants of what used to be the allegedly great empire of Pokélantis? Was this the place where the King of the Sea Empire once ruled, in his grand city whose pride was the invention of efficient waterways and complex aqueduct systems? I would’ve asked Chainy if he knew anything about the Outer Heaven’s past, and if it used to be covered in water, but I recalled that experts also believe that Pokélantis was most likely near Pewter City, and again, that’s back in the Kanto Region… There’s the Oldale Ruins, but that’s even farther… Maybe it’s the Relic Castle it’s guarding…

    The Sigilyph flapped its bony, chime like feathers and gave me and my Houndoom a soul-piercing look with its bright orange eyes. By this time, black-tinted embers began to envelop my Houndoom’s sharp fangs. The dark fire strangled each of the canine’s teeth and before long the Houndoom had fired the Dark Pulse a meter in front of him, aiming for the flying Avianoid Pokémon. Unlike most Pokémon who knew the move, Scorne’s Dark Pulse was a combination of dark matter infused with the poisonous flare-gases which he produces inside his body—instead of a swirling beam of darkness my Houndoom breathed out a stream of black fire, as if his maw was a crack that led to the depths of the Underworld. Flickering as if made of unrelenting souls and seemingly brought from the forges of the Abyss, the Dark Pulse shot the Psychic-Flying typed Sigilyph, interrupting the bobbing motion it was doing and sending it struggling to put out the flames, but the fires of Scorne’s attack would not concede.

    The Sigilyph flailed about, agonized in desperation to put out the black embers it had received. I noticed it flapped its left wing hard while it was doing so, as if sending a force towards the rock spire that was erected just beside it. The five-foot vertical mass of rock began to tremble, as I realized that the Sigilyph, though still trying to ease the pain it received from my Houndoom’s Dark Pulse, was launching its counter attack. I could only guess that it had used its psychic powers to detach five or six boulders from the side of the rock-spire, which levitated in mid-air for some seconds, before the flailing Sigilyph made another strange gesticulation with its hand like wings, abruptly sending the rocks, now glowing in a white-light, towards the Dark-Fire type quadruped. If the Sigilyph had used its psychic powers to direct the stones, perhaps Scorne wouldn’t receive much damage from the attack…

    A swift click of a blue, rectangular button on my Pokédex disproved my line of thinking—the attack was a super effective Rock-type move:

    [AncientPower. Rock-type move. The user attacks with a prehistoric power. It may also raise all the user's stats at once.]

    Prehistoric Power… The Sigilyph must be drawing out some primeval battling skills… It looked like it was recalling ancient strategems forged in its being; passed down from the earliest generations of its kind...

    The solid rocks slammed down for my Houndoom, barraging him with fist-sized boulders. The ram-horned helldog was knocked over to his side—clearly the Sigilyph was still a force to be reckoned with. I didn't see multiple-colored auras enveloping the Psychic Avianoid when it had delivered the AncientPower, so I guess that its battle stats weren't raised. I sighed in relief. It would have been very problematic for me and Scorne if all of its battling attributes would be strengthened by the attack.

    Hicarus gasped while I told my Dark-typed partner to stand up, knowing fully well that he was still able to continue battling.

    “Get up, Scorne,” I said, with no doubt in my words whatsoever. “I know you can do it. You’ve received much more damage than this before—remember Hikaru’s Swampert?”

    “Houndooom!” Scorne howled, getting up on his four feet, with much angst towards the Sigilyph evident in his calling.

    “That was a great job with your Dark Pulse. Now, let’s use what Karen taught us—the way of the Cunning—Faint Attack!”

    The Houndoom nodded to me chiefly. I could already imagine him disappearing into the darkness—his feet and the bone-clasps on his ankles were always first to vanish—then turn up somewhere near the Avianoid Pokémon.

    “Then Flamethrower the Sigilyph after the Faint Attack!” I added hastily to my command, in case Scorne, and I didn’t doubt he will, would appear in front or at the back of the Sigilyph so that he would catch it off its guard.

    If the black fires of the Dark Pulse inflicted pain on the Sigilyph, there was no doubt that the volcano-red, swirling fires of the Houndoom’s Flamethrower would bring more damage to the Psychic-Flying type. I drew my incredibly messy, spiky hair back, as I waited for the Dark Houndoom to execute the moves I ordered him to do, as a light gale swept dust over the craggy peak's terrain.

    “Get up, Scorne,” Nick ordered, with steel in his voice. I looked at him, surprised - I hadn't seen anything about him on this Expedition so far that hinted towards inner strength of this magnitude. “I know you can do it. You’ve received much more damage than this before - remember Hikaru’s Swampert?”

    The Houndoom howled in response and jumped back up onto his feet before growling up at the Sigilyph. The Sigilyph twittered in reply, and all three of its eyes narrowed.

    “That was a great job with your Dark Pulse," Nick continued. "Now, let’s use what Karen taught us - Faint Attack! Then Flamethrower the Sigilyph after the Faint Attack!”

    Scorne growled once more, in response to his Trainer's order. A cloud of black dust exploded underneath him and moved upwards, hiding the Pokemon from sight. A couple of seconds later a brisk wind blew the smokescreen away, but Scorne was no longer there. The Sigilyph looked around, confused. It started to drift closer to the ground, trying to find where its opponent had gone. Suddenly, there was an explosion of black smoke in the air right behind the avianoid Pokemon, and Scorne emerged with snapping teeth. He latched onto the Sigilyph's tail as the Flying-type cried out, trying to shake him off. A purple light flowed down from the Sigilyph's bulbous body and flowed down over the Houndoom, covering him completely. The Dark-type decided to let go, and when he landed solidly on the ground he breathed a huge pillar of fire up at the Sigilyph. I winced and covered my eyes, feeling sorry for the Wild Pokemon.

    As it turned out, I didn't need to be. The Sigilyph emerged from the fire unharmed. It made a sound that left me no doubt as to just how clever it thought it was. I didn't realise what had happened until I realised that small silver particles were floating gently off of Scorne. The Sigilyph must have swapped their Abilities to absorb the fire damage from Flamethrower.

    The Sigilyph flapped its wings briskly, and lots of small circular wind-blades scythed down towards Scorne. They struck all over his body, passing over and through him like a cyclone. He whimpered a little bit but stayed on his feet as the wind scythes faded from existence. Now that Scorne couldn't rely on any of his Fire-typed moves, Nick was at a serious disadvantage. Most of the Houndoom's Dark-type moves where physical, and the Sigilyph was fifteen metres off the ground. I couldn't wait to see what he would do next.

    I knew I sounded rather harsh when I told Scorne to get up, but in truth, and Scorne also knows this, I have always been harder on him compared to the other Pokémon. But there was no anger between us, we were partners, and I learn from him as my Pokémon as much as he does from me as his Trainer. He’s the longest companion I’ve been with—there was just some connection between us that surpassed any accusation of favoritism amongst my Pokémon… In a way, we were like brothers… brothers who would push either’s strength to the limit, but still be there when times get rough.

    In times like this.

    A cloud of heavy-black smoke engulfed the Houndoom, preventing any one of us—even the Sigilyph—from catching sight of what was happening with Scorne. The gale that swept some dust on the terrain became a strong gust for some five seconds, effectively clearing out the smoke that had covered the canine Pokémon. Just as what I had expected to happen, the Houndoom was no longer there, and there was no sight of his black, tan and bone-white bulk. The Avianoid Pokémon looked around, dazed, trying to figure out where Scorne had disappeared into. It lazily glided downwards, in search of the Houndoom. Approximately five seconds later, however, a cocoon of dark smoke erupted from thin air behind the Psychic-Flying Type. Scorne emerged from it, his tan colored maw open wide, showing his flesh-tearing teeth—with a forceful bite he completed the Dark-type move, holding on with his mouth tightly closed on the Sigilyph’s windchime-like tail.

    “SigiSigiSigi!” the Avianoid wailed, trying to shake off the Houndoom, who did not choose to let go despite the Sigilyph’s efforts.

    “Don’t let go of it, Scorne! Once you’re in position fire up that Flamethrower!” I yelled for the Houndoom, but if I knew what would have happened next I would have told him to do the opposite…

    For a wispy, bright violet light flowed from the peculiar Flying Pokémon’s top-shaped body; coating Scorne in an aura that resembled a transparent, purple Ditto…

    I have seen this move before…” I thought silently in my head, searching for any memories that would lead me to the mysterious Psychic move the Sigilyph was now performing.

    Scorne was just about to let go, I took it as a sign he was ready to unleash the Flamethrower, when it hit me—I have seen the move before when I challenged the Mossdeep Gym in the Hoenn Region—the Sigilyph, the clever beast it was, was using Skill Swap!

    That would only mean one thing… The Sigilyph would exchange abilities with the hellhound… It would get Flash Fire, making it immune to any flame attacks Scorne could dish out…

    ”Fall back, Scorne!”

    But it was too late. Like a literal fire hydrant, the Houndoom breathed an intense streak of rock-melting fire which hit the Sigilyph right on its circular body. The purple glow seemed to come off Scorne, while the Psychic-Flying Avianoid merely absorbed the Flamethrower as a red-orange aura covered it.

    It flew upwards from the fire, and if I have never seen this Pokémon before I would have thought it to be a singed, torn and mutilated version of some bird, but it looked just as strange as ever, without even a burn marking its bright colors.

    “Looks like this ancient guardian has been learning the ways of the cunning too, Scorne, If I may say so myself—Scorne look out!”

    I had told the Houndoom to dodge as the Sigilyph was sending a flurry of air-knives right at Scorne; it was Air Cutter, and I didn’t need to rely on memory or my Pokédex to recognize the Flying-type move.

    The hellhound Pokémon dashed to his left, but alas, the Sigilyph’s Air Cutter had followed, and one by one the blades of air pelted Scorne before dematerializing. I heard the Houndoom suppress a cry, and this was when I decided that the battle had to end soon. I can’t let my Houndoom suffer any longer.

    The Sigilyph flapped its bony wings indignantly, which still radiated an orange aura, not because it was a Shiny Pokémon but because its stolen ability had been activated. It looked down at us, as it was now nearly fifteen measures from the ground, waiting for my Houndoom to make its move.

    “Okay, Nick, think, and don’t do anything rash now…” I told myself, quickly scanning my Houndoom for its temporarily new ability.

    A faint blue light came from the tip of the red device; it beeped once and uttered in a recorded, robotic voice:

    [Ability Function activated. Scanned: Wonder Skin. Temporary ability for subject. Makes status-changing moves more likely to miss.]

    So the Sigilyph had been bearing Wonder Skin all this time…

    We were in a tight spot; even my Ranger knew that. See, my Houndoom’s natural attacks are geared towards physical strikes, like Crunch and the like. And most of his ranged moves are powerful, yes, but as they are Fire-type moves the Sigilyph would merely take them in head on. Scorne was land-bound too, and the Sigilyph was soaring…

    Think, Nick, think! Maybe… you could use it this time…

    I detached Melisand’s Great Ball from my belt… she was beaten up badly already… But I wasn’t going to switch her back in. I gave a serious looked at Hicarus, the Dragonite who was standing beside me watching Scorne’s battle with the Avianoid, and she nodded. She understood what I had in mind.

    I had nothing to lose—it was either I get this Sigilyph captured or I didn’t—so without going over my plan for another second, I shouted the command at Scorne.

    “Now Scorne, it’s time for some teamwork!” I yelled, clutching my Togekiss’s Great Ball in one gloved hand. “Scorne, you can get your attack in after Hicarus and Melisand bring it closer to the ground—one, two, ready—BEAT UP!

    I could see a black spark ignite in my Houndoom’s and Hicarus’s eyes, and I could feel Melisand nearly breaking free of the Great Ball’s locking mechanism… It was a crazy idea, but it might just work…

    Scorne gave out a howl, which was different from his normal ones in a sense that this particular one made you feel rebellious, reckless, and battle-hungry...

    We've used the move once before, against a trainer who had an extremely buff Swampert. I recall Scorne giving a howl like this first, before the rest of my Pokémon came out and did their part of the Beat Up, usually just striking the foe once with their wings or claws and such. Scorne was always the one last to attack, as I think he prefers to be the focus of the Beat Up, and as the saying goes, 'save the best for last'... I looked at the Houndoom's eyes, and saw an eagerness to perform the final part of the Dark-type move... He would usually give the foe a slashing with his front claws--I just hope Hicarus and Melisand would be able to bring the Avianoid close enough for the Houndoom to complete the Beat Up.

    My unoccupied hand found its way inside my bag, searching for a Hyper Ball to use on the Sigilyph, once it was Hicarus or Melisand had brought down the Sigilyph into ground level and after Scorne had completed the move.

    ~~~~~
    OOC: Sorry for the mistake lol. I hope this edited version is okay now.
    OOC: Duuude, you got handed a shitty-ass roll :(
    ~~~~~

    “Now Scorne, it’s time for some teamwork!” Nick called out to the Houndoom. “Scorne, you can get your attack in after Hicarus and Melisand bring it closer to the ground. One, two, ready... Beat Up!”

    Nick opened Melisand's ball, releasing the Togekiss up into the sky. She was immediately joined by Nick's Dragonite, and the pair of them flew up into the sky towards the Sigilyph. Hicarus made the first attack, shoulder-tackling the spherical flying Pokemon. The Sigilyph was knocked out of the air, and it started falling towards the ground. Melisand then headbutted the Sigilyph, sending it flying even faster towards the ground. Finally, Scorne leaped up and grabbed the Sigilyph's wing in his teeth and slammed it viciously into the ground. The Sigilyph squealed in pain, but didn't lose sight of the battle entirely. There was a sudden explosion of electricity from the Sigilyph's bulbous body, and the sparks crawled over Scorne, causing him to yelp. The Houndoom's front legs collapsed and his chin hit the rocky ground.

    I watched as Nick threw a Hyper Ball towards the Sigilyph. The capture device arced through the air and tapped the Wild Pokemon on its black antennae. The Sigilyph was converted into red energy and then sucked inside the capsule. The Hyper Ball rocked from side to side for a few seconds before snapping open. The Sigilyph broke free of the sphere and soared up into the air, being careful to stay away from Hicarus and Melisand as they returned to Nick's side. I wouldn't have thought that the Wild Pokemon would have had enough strength to break free of the Hyper Ball, but apparently it did. This was definitely a very special Pokemon.

    OOC : Ah, that sucks. Oh well, maybe second time's the charm? ;D

    ~~~~~
    Melisand materialized from her Great Ball when I had ordered the attack; as she and my Dragonite soared up into the sky to perform the Beat Up. Hicarus, with her massive orange bulk, shoulder-tackled the Psychic-type Avianoid, hurtling the Sigilyph downwards to the ground. My Togekiss was next to attack, bringing down her tri-feathered crest on to a headbutt slam which made the ancient guardian descend even faster. Scorne moved in closer, and as the Sigilyph was nearing him he leaped up, clasped his fang-lined maw on the Sigilyph’s right bony wing, and with such vehement force the Houndoom threw the Avianoid Pokémon as though it were an unwanted rag doll.
    The Shiny-coloured Sigilyph didn’t seem to be fazed by the happening; in quick succession light bolts and sparks of bright electricity came from the Psychic-Flying type’s round, patterned body. The Thunder Wave looked like a whip of intense electrical energy, and it lashed onto Scorne’s body, covering him in spine-tingling electric sparks. It was hard to stand there, as Scorne’s companion and as his trainer, to watch the Houndoom collapse on its forelimbs, paralyzed, and unable to regain his footing.
    Scorne was paralyzed by the Sigilyph’s attack. I knew the Sigilyph would try and do something like this; Psychic types were always tricky with status-inflicting moves at their disposal. I was being too confident, however, that Scorne’s temporary ability, Wonder Guard, would prevent a situation like this, but clearly it hasn’t—so I knew I had to do what has to be done.
    My Ranger, Chainy, watched me as I threw forwards a camouflage-designed Pokéball to the Avianoid Pokémon. The Hyper Ball spun as it accelerated towards the rare Psychic-type, and a second or two later the device hit the Sigilyph on its antenna which resembled an Unown. With a metallic click the Hyper Ball opened, sucking the strange creature within in a flash of red. The capturing device then fell on the ground, as my Togekiss and Dragonite flew towards me, both landing by my side.
    The Hyper Ball rocked, from right to left and to right again; as the center button of the ball flashed red light in three-second intervals.
    “Well, looks like you’ve cap—” that was the voice of my Ranger, but he never got to finish his sentence, as the Hyper Ball had just snapped open, releasing the Sigilyph in bright, white plasma energy.
    The Sigilyph re-emerged into the battlefield; star-like sparks of light covering it as it did an aerial somersault before soaring once more into the air.
    Looks like you’re not going to give in easily, eh? I thought silently in my mind, now more determined to catch the Sigilyph.
    “Scorne, can you stand?” I asked the Houndoom, whose body was now covered in sparks as much as the bones that were part of his canine anatomy.
    Scorne gave off a low howl, and there was a grave seriousness in his call.
    He struggled to get up on all fours, but nonetheless he managed to get up, although barely.
    “I won’t have you battling for too long now, partner,” I told him sincerely. “One last attack and that will hopefully bring down the Sigilyph’s health for us to have better chances of having it captured.”
    “Houndoom.”
    “Okay then, Scorne, use Smog!”
    The internal sac in a Houndoom’s stomach was responsible for the Dark Pokémon’s fire-breathing, but it served a secondary purpose—it was a reservoir of flammable toxins which the Houndoom could also release through his throat.
    The Houndoom shook his head, so that a few sparks flew away from his curved, ram like horns. He opened his mouth and began to breathe in some air, and I knew he was readying the Poison-typed attack. Hopefully, he would be able to perform the move in spite of his paralysis, and that the Smog cloud would poison the Sigilyph. I could just imagine the yellow-green parts of the Shiny Pokémon turning into a sick purple, indicating that it had been poison. It all depended on Scorne now.
    I decided to go see what happened to my first Hyper Ball later; perhaps it had broken or not—who knew? So I just retrieved another one from my beige pack, ready to throw it at the Psychic-type once the toxic cloud had hit it.
    OOC: @Morru Magnum; My sincere apologies for this taking so long. I have no excuses, except that wasting time feels realllllly good xD
    The Houndoom slowly managed to get back onto his feet at his Trainer's insistence.
    “I won’t have you battling for too long now, partner. One last attack and that will hopefully bring down the Sigilyph’s health for us to have better chances of having it captured,” Nick explained.
    Scorne barked, and seeing that his Pokemon was good for a little more yet, Nick commanded a Smog attack. Scorne took a deep breath and mixed the fresh air with the evil foulness inside of him before releasing it back into the outside world. The purple fog that erupted from his mouth seemed to have a mind of its own - it reached up towards the Sigilyph with long tendrils. These wrapped around the Flying-type and caused it to start shaking. Instinctively Nick knew to try the capture again, and he threw a second Hyper Ball up at the Wild Pokemon. Once again it was sucked into the device, but this time it couldn't fight its way free. The ball emitted the very familiar capture tone.
    "Congratulations," I said to Nick as I walked over and picked the Hyper Ball up. I also picked up the ball from his earlier attempt, which seemed to be in working order. The empty ball went into Nick's hand, and the one containing the Sigilyph went into my pocket. "Now where do you want to go?" I asked him.
    OOC: That's okay, @ChainReaction01;. I mean, I did abandon this run for like a month more than once, xD. Also this isn't my best post, I'm trying to get the feel of roleplaying again, lol.
    With the sweet click of the Pokéball, there was no mistaking that I have finally caught the strange, Avianoid Pokémon. My Ranger, clad in red uniform and suited in a black overcoat, picked up the Hyper Ball, now stable, from the ground. He also retrieved the first Hyper Ball which failed to capture the Sigilyph in my first attempt and handed it over to me.
    Scorne slowly walked towards me; minute currents still crackling all over his charcoal-black fur. I returned the unsuccessful Hyper Ball in my beige pack, and brought out a small, zip-lock bag filled with Lava Cookies.
    "You did well, Scorne," I said, petting him on his horns, while carefully avoiding some sparks. "Have some of this, it will help you recover from paralysis."
    I opened the sealed bag and got one of the red-orange Lava Cookies, and tossed it for Scorne, who effectively caught it in his mouth. The Houndoom looked pleased with the treat, and I believe this was because Lava Cookies were baked using the heat lava from Mt. Chimney in Hoenn, and as a Fire-type, I can see why Scorne would love them.
    "That looks better, now, partner," I said as I petted him again, this time the electrical surges seemed to die off his fur gradually. "You should a well-earned rest, Scorne."
    The familiar seriousness was back in his ruby-eyes, and he gave me a knowing nod before going back into his PokéBall.
    Chainy then congratulated me, and asked where we would go next.
    "I'm thinking of going down that path over there, if you don't mind. I think I want to spend my last encounters in the Outer Heavens on the ground."
    Nick fed his Houndoom a Lava Cookie, and immediately the Dark-type looked much better as the food restored the many paralyzed muscles of the Pokemon. I hoped that he didn't intend to battle with the Houndoom again - the Dark Pokemon was still looking very tired. Thankfully, after Scorne had finished eating, Nick returned him to his PokeBall.
    "I'm thinking of going down that path over there, if you don't mind. I think I want to spend my last encounters in the Outer Heavens on the ground," the Trainer replied to my earlier question.
    "Not a problem, we're actually not super-far from the entrance anyway," I noted. "In fact, we're actually on the tip of the mountain we started this run on - the wind must have had more control over our flight pattern than I thought. We simply have to descend the mountain."
    The path descended quickly, but it wasn't anything dangerous as long as we moved slowly. I certainly didn't blame Nick for wanting to walk from here on out - I wasn't great with flying at the best of times, and the thought of doing it for long periods of time made me feel slightly queasy.
    After a few minutes of careful footwork, I heard large wingbeats and look upwards. A large black bird that seemed to be wearing a hat was circling us, watching us intently. I whistled to get Nick's attention and then pointed upwards.
    "I don't suppose you want to try and catch a Honchkrow?" I asked him.
    @ChainReaction01; I just noticed you already posted >.< haha. Sorry for posting late.
    After trudging on narrow paths of dusty rock and soil, Chainy and I stopped when we heard the sound of beating wings coming above.
    "I don't suppose you want to try and catch a Honchkrow?" the uniform-clad Ranger asked me, as a dark blue figure came before us.
    The Honchkrow was an ominous flying mass of midnight blue and crimson; its fedora-like crest was fluttering against the winds. I've seen a few of them before, back in my home region, usually leading a murder of Murkrow when it was deep into the night.
    "Honchkrow-kroow!" the Big Boss Pokémon squawked, flapping its great blue wings as it circled us.
    "I think I'll pass on this one," I answered my Ranger. "I've already captured it's pre-evolved form earlier, and this Pokémon looks like something we shouldn't mess with. It's still pretty high up, maybe it won't notice us if we just moved along. If it does though, I guess one more Pokédoll will prove to be handy."
    The Honchkrow squawked again, sounding like some instrument that wasn't tuned properly.
    I walked forwards, noticed the ground was becoming grassier and looked back once at the circling Honchkrow. Hopefully the Dark type would not decide to follow us.
    "Yeah, sounds like a solid plan," I replied. "It doesn't look like it will attack us unless we do something to annoy it, so we can probably just move quickly past."
    Following my suggestion, we quickly moved down the mountain, trying to get away from the Honchkrow. They preferred moving about at night time, so there must have been some very important reason for it to be circling at this time of day. Luckily (or perhaps unluckily) for us, we soon found the reason. A young Murkrow was sitting in a large nest amongst a pile of rocks, pecking at some small berries that its mother had obviously fetched. It looked at us and squawked before returning to its fruity meal. I felt a little bit strange about offering the Pokemon to Nick as a potential capture, but rules were rules.
    "How about a second Murkrow?" I asked. "Maybe the Honchkrow won't mind us battling her young."
    I agreed with Chainy; Pokémon in situations like this are better off unprovoked.
    And with that, we descended further down the mountainside, our paths getting lusher in each step we took. The Honchkrow did not seem to take any further notice to what we were doing, so I took that as a sign that it had no intention of following us any time soon. It really was rather odd for a Honchkrow to be out in this hour of the day, especially when their species are known for being nocturnal.
    Not much later, we discovered a large, twig-woven nest which lay on some gray colored stones. And it was in this nest that we found a Murkrow fledgling gorging on what I think were Wacan and Charti Berries, undoubtedly for building the Pokémon’s resistance against natural enemies such as Electric or Rock-type Pokémon.
    I thought perhaps that the Honchkrow we saw just a few moments ago was this chick’s parent, and that it was scouting the area for threats. Threats like us.
    I knew Chainy was thinking the same, because he did not at all sound like he wanted me to battle the little Darkness Pokémon when he offered the suggestion to me:
    "How about a second Murkrow? Maybe the Honchkrow won't mind us battling her young."
    “Yeah, maybe. Still don’t want to risk it, though. I’d feel like I’ll be committing kidnapping if I were to battle and catch this Murkrow… and like I said earlier, I’ve already captured one of them.”
    “Shall we move along then?” Chainy asked.
    “Yeah,” I said as we both saw the baby Murkrow ingest half a Wacan Berry. “And if this little one would follow us, well, I think a Pokédoll would take care of that; they haven’t failed me so far.”
    “Yeah, and if this little one would follow us, well, I think a Pokédoll would take care of that; they haven’t failed me so far.”
    The Honchkrow circling us from above let out a screech and I looked upwards nervously. Birds tended to get really vicious when their young were involved, and while I wasn't too worried about fighting it off, I didn't want to hurt any Pokemon that I didn't have to. "Maybe you should drop one just in case," I advised nervously.
    Nick looked upwards and nodded agreement. He left a Pokedoll in the Murkrow's nest and we moved on. Thankfully, the Honchkrow lost interest in us not long after we started walking away.
    The mountain path lead downwards, and I realised that in the distance I could actually see the broken down building that we had initially started our run near. It seemed like that had been so long ago, even thought it was only this . We must have circled back to the original mountain - funny how I hadn't noticed it until now.
    A small thicket of mostly-dead trees was sitting on the edge of the path, and perched in it was a snoozing Noctowl. Strange how I'd never really thought about owl sleeping habits before, but I guess they had to find some place to sleep while they waited for night to fall so they could hunt. I yawned and pointed it out to Nick, silently asking him if he wanted to try and capture it.
