Ranger Outpost - En Route to the Woods
Ranger Elijah & Trainer Maya

A young man of twenty stood near the Head Ranger's desk, absentmindedly flicking the varied tassels and decorations which resided in the pencil holder. He had been accepted as a full Ranger for a good while and still the most exciting part of the day was making copies of varied Trainer reports. With a sigh, Elijah Quinn stood to his full height and sulked over to the copier to make back-ups of the Ranger Logs. With a press of a button, the copier spit out papers, each as identical as the one before it.

"Ranger Elijah? You here?" A voice came from the door. It belonged to the Head Ranger. She was a tall woman herself, with a commanding voice and an imposing stance. "We have a Trainer ready to go out. Want to take her?"

"Wha-YES!" He jumped up and down excitedly. Finally, he had another trainer to escort around the park, encountering various new Pokemon along the way. Large blue eyes widened in enthusiasm as he quickly hurried over to the Lady Boss. Greedy hands pulled the small stack of papers from the Head Ranger's grip, while he quickly scanned the print. The new Ranger was attempting to find the name of the Trainer.

"It's Maya," the woman commented, rolling her eyes slightly.

"I knew that. Wait... What? She's new?"

"Yes. She's new to the Park, so be kind," the Boss Lady said.

"...Really?" the Ranger questioned. "And we're going...?" he waited for her to finish his sentence.

"To the Botanical Gardens," she sighed.

"Nice! I'll go right away. I-" Elijah began to run towards the door with several Pokeballs in hand before he promptly turned around and returned to the desk. With a slight blush, he mumbled something it being near sunset and he might as well get a few extra supplies.


The cool air whisked his face while he stood outside of the main Ranger outpost. Elijah was leaning against a massive stake in the ground, which was not only supporting him, but a small green bird named Shemo. Shemo was the resident teleportation Natu - since driving to the Woods was out of the question. He was a terrible driver and in a wooded terrain, it was asking for trouble.

"Pluff." An oddly colored Jumpluff hovered above the man's red hair. It sighed, looking around for something to do.

"Patience, Lonnie. I'm sure our trainer will show up soon."

"Let's see, take a left, and you should see Ranger Outpost #3, on the--" Maya looked up from her map to see a red haired boy about twenty years old leaning on a stake just outside the main entrance of the outpost. A Natu sat on the stake as well, keeping an eye out for something.

"Lita, shall we have a little fun?" she cooed to the little yellow mouse at her side. The Pichu nodded, and watched her master grab a small gold end-blown flute from a pocket and proceed to play a short little melody that sounded like a Swablu's song, in hopes it would get the Natu's or the Jumpluff's attention.

A sweet melody drifted through the air, catching the attention of the impatient Jumpluff.

"Jump!" He cried, instantly turning to face the music.

"Hm?" Eli turned to his partner, wondering what all the commotion was about. "What is it?"

"Jum, Pluff," Lonnie answered, attempting to wave his cotton-ball like hands towards the west.

Seeing his pitiful attempts at pointing, both Eli and Sheemo turned to take a glance. He could see a little Pichu, dashing around the feet of a human - however, he couldn't quite see the "master" as she was cloaked in light from the setting sun. Perhaps he'd get to see her features when she got closer?

"Ahoy there!" Eli waved, ushering the trainer forth. "Are you Maya? If so, hurry on up so we can get going. The sun is setting, so you'll be able to see some unique Pokemon during the twilight."

Maya stopped her Swablu imitations and heard the boy calling to her. After gathring her things and motioning for Lita to follow, she introduced herself to the boy. "I am Maya, and this is Lita." she began, gesturing to the Pichu.

"Pichu pichu!" Lita smiled

OOC; Try to describe your character a little more. Detail is important if you want to capture a Pokemon. ;D

"It's nice to meet you Maya," the Ranger smiled. "And you as well, Lita."

The Pichu seemed delighted to be noticed.

"Come along, shall we?" He motioned for everyone to stand close together. As the bodies drew together, Eli gave a thumbs up to the awaiting Sheemo.

Seeing his signal, the Natu began to glow an eerie purple in color before vanishing from the post. At first, it seemed like nothing had happened until a light static shock was sent through each one of the party members. The sudden jolt caused Eli to blink rapidly. When he opened his eyes fully, the Ranger Outpost was no where to be seen - only dense woodlands surrounded the party as they stood in a small clearing.

The trees were cast in a golden light from the setting sun while the grass below stayed a lush green from the shade.

"Lovely," Eli commented, taking in the surroundings.

"Celebi," was the reply.

Noting that it wasn't his Pokemon to respond, the Ranger looked around. "What in the world?"

"Celebi!" A small, green, fairy-like creature began to loop back and forth in the air, as if it were trying to show off and impress the newcomer. Soon, it paused, noticing the setting sun before retreating into the shadows.

"Wow," the boy stated, still in amazement. "Legendary Pokemon are very rare. It's amazing that you had a chance to see one!"

At first, Maya felt dizzy, and her brown hair stuck out in ten different directions when she and Lita arrived in the woods with the ranger some time later. As the tall trees and the pink and orange sky flickered into focus again, she swore she saw something small and green staring back at her.

"Celebi?" the fairy-like Pokemon asked in reply.

"Oh...my..." was all Maya could muster as Celebi playfully looped around her in the sky. Lita was still swirly eyed from the teleportation, so she had no idea she was up close and personal with the Voice of the Forest himself!

Then, just as quickly as he had appeared, Celebi noticed the setting sun and fled into the shadows.

"Legendary Pokemon are very rare. It's amazing that you had a chance to see one!" Eli, her Ranger guide, commented. she could tell in his awed voice that he was just as surprised as she was.

"Someone pinch me..." she groaned, figuring the encounter was a dream, or something only possible in the stories she told. Lita finally darted up and lightly pinched her master on the arm, making Maya rear back in pain.

"Someone pinch me..." the young trainer groaned. When her small Pichu complied, Eli could do nothing but laugh.

"So, are you r-"

WHOOSH. WHOOSH. WHOOSH.

A massive sound pressed its way through the dense grove of trees. Flurries of lush leaves were ripped from their branches as twigs and dead wood came tumbling down. Eli's hands quickly flew up to his ears, to protect them from any more damage.

Lonnie, who couldn't do much of anything, simply cowered from the overbearing noise.

Suddenly, everything went silent.

"What was that?" The Ranger gasped. "That was like a jet airplane or something. It-"

"MUR."

"Wh-" Again, he heard something different than his own Pokemon. Turning towards the source of the noise he spotted a small creature, no larger than a two-year old child coming from the fallen brush. It was shaped like a potato sack with large, floppy bunny ears and from its cries, it seemed lost or frightenend.

"MUR," the pink Pokemon repeated.

"Er well, what do you think?" Eli asked. "Up to a battle?"

Maya dove into the grass and covered her ears to shield herself from the whooshing noise, fearing that it belonged to another Legendary. She swore she heard Eli saying something, but she couldn't hear a thing over her covered ears.

"Pi pi..." Lita nuzzled her.

"What was that?" Maya groaned as she got up from the grass and saw the Whismur in the brush.

"How bout it, Lita? Want to try and battle it?"

"Chu." Lita replied, noting the Whismur's frightened cries. "Pi pichu pichu, pi pichu!" she explained.

"No? Okay, we'll leave it be." Maya replied. While Whismur were cute, she wasn't sure if she could deal with its evolutions.

"How bout it, Lita? Want to try and battle it?" Maya asked, looking to Lita for assitance in the decision.

"Chu." Lita replied, noting the Whismur's frightened cries. "Pi pichu pichu, pi pichu!"

"No? Okay, we'll leave it be," the trainer said.

"As you wish," Eli responded. He pointed and whispered something to his Jumpluff before setting off into the opposite direction. "Don't worry about him. He's going to try and lead the poor thing home."

Before he could get any sort of response from Maya, a light gust of wind blew by. It was followed by a vast swarm of bugs in all shapes and sizes. Most noteable were the Ledian and Scyther leading the pack, but at the tail end was a lone bug who kept falling. It must have just hatched from it's egg.

"Mise!" It cried, trying to get high enough up into the air.

Lita saw the struggling Illumise and ran to help it, giving it gentle nudges skyward until it had enough confidence to fly on its own. She was rewarded for her help by a Volbeat that arrived to help the Illumise, followed by several more pairs of Volbeat and Illumise, making a beautiful light show among the stars.

"Pi..." Lita smiled, mesmerized by the patterns of lights in the sky.

"Say..." Maya fumbled for her whistle and played a reel. The Volbeats and the Illumises partnered up, and intricate patterns formed in the sky as they danced to the tiny flute.

"Beat! Beat!" one Volbeat begged.

"I'd love to, but we have to go." Maya assured him as she turned to leave.

Lita looked back to see the baby Illumise with her partner. "Pi pi!" she called as she waved goodbye to it.

Lita saw the struggling Illumise and ran to help it, giving it gentle nudges skyward until it had enough confidence to fly on its own.

Seeing such a simple gesture made the Ranger smile. Perhaps Maya and Lita might be Rangers one day, since they seem to have such a knack for helping Pokemon.

As soon as Maya pulled out her flute, a larger Volbeat came to get his little Illumise partner. However, he left soon, followed by a short goodbye from Lita.

"Bugs aren't your thing, eh? Mine either - although my cousin seems to like them plenty." Eli motioned for the part to continue through the twilight wood. Yet, instead of becoming more dense, the trees began to dwindle in number. It seemed they had stumbled upon a light clearing in the woods. In the middle of the flat grass was a small kitten like Pokemon, playing fruitfully with its tail.

"Meow, Meow, Meow," the kitten purred, rolling on its back.

"AWWW!!!" Maya cooed, her eyes turning into hearts as she spotted the Meowth. "I want to have that one!"

"Pichu!" Lita agreed, and charged into the grass.

"Start with a Thundershock!" Maya commanded. Lita nodded and fired a tiny bolt of electricity at the Meowth. The Meowth retaliated by scratching Lita across the stomach, making Lita howl in pain.

Angered, Lita fired a Swift attack, sending the Meowth falling into the brush. The Meowth leapt onto Lita's back and bit her on the shoulder.

The two of them went rolling into the grass for a moment, until Lita managed to throw the Meowth off of her, making a loud crunch in the grass.

The Meowth lunged at Lita again, but Lita fired a Thundershock back, catching the Meowth off guard.

Seeing the Meowth struggling to get up, Lita crawled back to Maya's side in exhaustion.

"I'll take over from here, sweetie..." Maya assured Lita as she heaved a Park Ball at the Meowth...

I can't accept that as a post.

You can only pull off one or two attacks with your Pokemon.

You cannot say if they hit the other Pokemon. That is up to the Ranger.

You cannot say if they damaged. That is also up to the Ranger.

You cannot control Meowth. That is the Ranger's job to choose Meowths attacks and whether he/she dodges yours.

OOC; Yes, this is how it is supposed to go.
Just remember to DESCRIBE your attacks. Even if they don't hit, you can still say what Lita looked like performing them. Remember, it's an RP. :)
You also get to choose the gender for Meowth.

Lita began to charge up, the small pink electrical sacs on her cheeks sparking with excitement to battle. As her tiny tail touched the ground for insulation, she raised he head and cried her name.

"Meowth?" Unsure of what was going on, the kitten decided to take some sort of precaution. It began to think of a plan, a nasty sort of plan that may surprise the enemy later on. Sharp question marks appeared over the Meowth's head, dancing in an odd way.

"Pichu!" Lita released her Thundershock, allowing a small ball of electricity to fly towards the Nasty Plotting Meowth.

"Meow!" The attack hit the Meowth in the forehead, as it was too concentrated on thinking to block the incoming attack.
