    OOC: If you have any questions as to how the Park works, feel free to ask. Otherwise, here's hoping for an enjoyable run and a few good captures!

    ~~~~~
    I leaned backwards on my chair, sighing contentedly. My left eye was closed, and since my right eye was hidden behind my Aura Reader it looked to anyone else like I was napping with my feet up on my desk. I had a fair load of paperwork to do, but it wasn't due in for another week so I had plenty of time to laze around. Besides, I was engaging in an activity that was infinitely more enjoyable - watching the female Rangers scurry around. One of them was out of the office at the moment, but that still left me with two to watch. The great thing was there was no way they could possibly know I was doing so.
    Elisa was a relatively new ranger, still bubbly and enthusiastic, not jaded like some of the older ones. She bounced around the office with a spring in her step, filing papers and helping the secretaries with a warm smile on her face. Her long hair flicked around her as she moved, which made for a very attractive sight.
    Ivy was just as fun to look at. Her black turtleneck and cargo pants were very form-fitting, and she was just that little bit more jiggly. At the moment she was bending over her desk to pick up a pen that had fallen over, so I had a prime view of a very interesting place. I watched as she managed to snare the pen with the tips of her fingers. At that very second, her Espeon Haji walked in. He took a look at me, and then looked over to Ivy. She froze in place for a second, and then whipped her head around to give me a piercing glare.
    I toppled over on my chair, completely unexpecting this turn of events. She got up off her chair, and began to walk over to me. I scrabbled around, trying to get up, but I couldn't do so in time. She planted a foot on my arm and stared down at me menacingly.
    <James, we have a run,> Dual's thought flashed through my mind.
    Perfect! I squeaked, as Ivy's foot began to press down harder. Teleport us both there!
    Dual was silent for a second. <Are you getting punished for something?>
    Now's not the time to accuse me of stuff, we have a run to start, I said quickly. The pain in my arm was starting to shoot up to my shoulder.
    Dual sent me an image of his face looking sceptical, but blue light started to gather around me nonetheless. It covered me quickly, inside of a couple seconds, and the world suddenly flashed out of existence. I wasn't worried, though - Dual and I would appear in a flash of blue outside the gates to wherever the Trainer was having his expedition. I just hoped we got there before them.
    ooc: I'll try to improve with descriptions and that jazz as we get into it more - figured this was just an introduction anyway.
    ~
    I wove goodbye to Swampert, who promised to look after my one-story vine infested home. I didn't think he would want to since he's awfully afraid of anything that involves the environment, but he agreed easily. The blue amphibious monster did always like any extra company I brought home from my adventures. And I planned to do just that today.
    "Good luck, bud," I said as I made my way down the dirt path that was ridden with small weeds that had been sprouting as the weather became nice in the spring weather.
    As I slumped down the trail there were chirps from the surrounding trees. I never knew that Pokemon lived this way. Never had heard Pokemon from any other part of the forest, I thought, becoming interested in what kind of Pokemon I would find in my adventure into the park, this is gonna be awesome.
    Slowly making my way out of the forest the sun shine its rays brightly on the quiet dirt road, forcing me to squint. Off into the distance I could just barely see the gate for the Botanic Gardens. There was a huge lack of any kind of trees from here on out. The healthy looking green grass just got taller and taller as I approached the gate, something my cell phone reception can never seem to do.
    Continuing my trek to the steel gates the grass looked more and more perfect with each step I took, it really is greener on the other side. I had never gone this way out of the forested home, the big cities and towns were the opposite direction on the path. This scenery and fresh air was a pleasant change.
    Finally approaching the gates I looked around to find the Ranger that would be taking me into the park but to no avail. “Guess I’ve arrived early.”
    I dropped my small bag onto the ground and took a seat, leaning back against the gate. It was extremely hot and uncomfortable. Luckily, a blue aura appeared out of no where. It shocked me so much I jumped up - at full attention as if I were being commanded by a Lieutenant.
    From the aura came a Pokemon and a Ranger.
    “Hey, how’s it goin’? You’ll be taking me into the gardens?”
    OOC: Yeah, most people do the minimum until something they want to catch comes along. Then they start going nuts. It's a workable tactic.
    ~~~~~

    As the world started to reform itself and the blue shade began to leech away, a voice that I'd never heard before broke through the incessant static buzzing that always accompanied Dual's Teleportation.

    “Hey, how’s it goin’? You’ll be taking me into the gardens?” it asked.

    I closed my eyes and kneaded my forehead. For some reason the after effects of the teleportation was affecting me more than usual. I opened my eyes back up, and I saw a muscly young man with brown shaggy hair standing straight up in the air. He wasn't short, but I couldn't hold back a smile when I noticed he was noticably shorter than me. I held out my hand to shake his warmly.

    "Yeah, it's going good. Nice to get out from the office and away from the abusive women," I said wryly, retracting my hand and rubbing the wrist. "I'm Ranger James Carter, but feel free to call me Chainy. Carter is for superiors and James is for people I've seen naked."

    I turned around and approached the gate. The tech jockeys were always making me earn entry through strange means, and I wondered how they were going to humiliate me today. The feud between us was long-running, and I didn't like thinking about it. It hadn't even been my fault, not really.

    I pulled out my PDA and flicked the touchscreen a few times. It was apparently receiving the three-step handshake protocol from a new device. I read the device description in the properties field and groaned before walking up to the speakerphone that you usually spoke into. Instead, I turned around and grunted softly. A quiet brrrt was barely audible, and after a second's delay the beautiful wrought iron gates opened up.

    "Alright, no time to waste," I called out, realizing that I didn't know the Trainer's name. I shrugged - either he'd tell me or it'd come through on my PDA soon - and my main concern was to get him past here before he realized what I'd done. We both moved quickly through the gates, and they swung silently shut soon after. We were in what was nicknamed "the foyer", a lightly gardened area with a map of the Gardens and signposts to all the various locations. I was just about to ask my Trainer where he wanted to go when a Blissey stepped out from behind the sign. It called out to us and gave us a happy wave.

    "That's a good way to start a run," I said, smiling happily.

    ooc: ;_; why so soon?

    ---

    I stumble back startled at the pink blob coming out of its hiding spot. “Wow! What a rare Pokémon,” enthusiastic about my first Pokémon encounter.

    Clicking the small button one of my Pokeballs I throw it into the air, appearing from it a large blue hunk of steel: Metagross. Its two feet grasped the ground with their sharp clones.

    My enthusiasm faded quickly unfortunately. “You can only capture Blissey with Hyper Balls if I read up correctly…”

    To be sure I had none of these special Poke balls I furiously check through my bag, rummaging through my rations of food, Pokémon discs, and other park Poke Balls.

    “Nope, none. Damn. Maybe next time we’ll have better luck. No other choice but to try and get out of here. Sorry, Blissey.”

    "I'm Junior by the way, forgot to introduce myself," whispering to Ranger Chainy so the pink Pokemon can't hear my SECRET plan, “and if Blissey won’t let us escape I’d like to use one of your Poke Dolls.”

    "Wow, what a rare Pokemon!" he exclaimed, quickly throwing a PokeBall up into the air. A flash of white light temporarily blinded me, and when the brightness faded I saw a Metagross standing in a strange, somewhat anthropomorphised two-legged pose. Perhaps it was a special battle position, or maybe it was one of those Metagross that learned to negate half of their body weight with electromagnetism, I didn't know. The Trainer Profile hadn't come through on my PDA yet.

    I looked over at the guy, happy to see him smiling. Blissey were very rare, and I was glad to see him come across it so early. Unfortunately, his face fell, and I could guess why. It was a rookie mistake - Pokemon that have evolved cannot be caught by any kind of ball except a Hyper Ball, and when people forgot to buy them they did themselves a huge disservice. He muttered something and began to search around in his small bag fervently.

    “Nope, none. Damn. Maybe next time we’ll have better luck. No other choice but to try and get out of here," he said to himself. "Sorry, Blissey.”

    He then turned to me and whispered, "I'm Junior by the way, forgot to introduce myself, and if Blissey won’t let us escape I’d like to use one of your Poke Dolls.”

    I gave the Blissey a quick look. It seemed quite enamoured with the muscly young man, and if we let it hang around it might cause problems later on. Only rarely did Pokemon approach people if they saw a Wild one hanging around.

    "Better throw one just in case, I have a feeling it might try to follow us," I said.

    He nodded, and gave me a small wad of cash. I tucked it away inside the pack that was nestled against my lower back and passed him a stuffed animal that was in the shape of a Clefairy. He threw the doll underarm to the Blissey, and it caught it, cooing happily. It rubbed the doll against its cheek and began to walk away.

    I walked over to the map and waved for Junior to follow me. There were so many interesting places in the gardens for people to visit, like the greenhouses, or the ponds, or the forest plot, or even the picnic area. I stood back a bit and tilted my hand at the sign, indicating for Junior to take a look and choose where he wanted to go.

    After sneaking away from the now occupied Blissey Ranger Chainy came to a halt at a fork in the road. He tilted his head to me, signaling me to think about which way I should choose to go.

    I paused and thought about where I should go.

    Down the left were picnic tables set up next to a shimmering pond, it looked like the most relaxing place to go, but I didn’t feel comfortable going over that way for some reason. Straight down the middle there was a huge forest. It reminisced of the forest that my house occupied; the trees covered any sun shine, but they were extremely green and healthy looking, unlike the drooping trees back home. To the right of the forest was more tall grass, it seemed to stretch out for miles and miles. If you looked closely through the blades of grass you could see small glass houses.

    Still stumped I ask Metagross were he wanted to go, using telepathy he responded, <I feel you have a higher degree of accomplishing your goal through the forest. Additionally, the forest will likely be a more comfortable place for you to battle considering you live in one.>

    “Well then. I guess it’s decided,” I said decisively, “We are going into the forest.”

    I walked down the path before Ranger Chainy could respond, exhilarated to find a Pokémon I could finally capture.

    Junior followed me over to the sign and gazed at it for a while. He looked like he was having trouble deciding where to go, but he finally spoke up after a few minutes.

    “Well then. I guess it’s decided. We are going into the forest," he said before walking quickly off in that direction.

    I sighed quietly. My favourite parts of the Gardens were the flowerbeds or the greenhouses, and yet every single time I managed to find myself escorting someone through the forest section. I shook my head ruefully and jogged after Junior, who was keeping up a cracking pace.

    Three minutes later we found ourselves at the beautiful stonework arch that denoted the entrance to the forest plot. It contained all kinds of rare tropical trees and flowers, and there were many rare Pokemon in here like Ferroseed and Petilil. I shrugged, and led Junior through the arch. I was then taken aback - a Breloom was standing right in the middle of the path, scratching itself leisurely on the belly. Its mushroom-like tail tip swished through the air happily, spreading tiny spores throughout the air.

    "Wow, you're a magnet for rare Pokemon, Junior," I remarked. "Feel like trying to capture a Breloom at all?"

    OOC: Sorry if I took 'control' of Breloom a little bit.

    I slowed my pace and Ranger Chainy made his way up to me. He led me into the forest; the entrance was a large stone arch. It was like nothing I had seen before, I had no idea the gardens would have something so majestic.

    As I appreciated the art around, a Pokémon with a mushroom like hat found itself standing in our way, just relaxing out in the open. It seemed odd, as if the Breloom was waiting for someone to find and battle it. The green fighting Pokémon had not seemed to notice us come by.

    James stumbled back a little at the sight of yet another Pokémon, "Wow, you're a magnet for rare Pokémon, Junior," he remarked. "Feel like trying to capture a Breloom at all?"

    "All right," I said, ready for a battle. "I'm actually prepared for this one."

    Metagross, still out of his Poke ball, itched for battle. The hunk of metal slammed its feet against the ground with each step, eventually making it between me and the Breloom. Metagross grunted and got Breloom’s attention. The Pokémon didn’t look relaxed anymore at all. His short arms, those of a tyrannosaurus-rex, flexed. Its expression showed anger and determination.

    Though Metagross was steel type, its other type of psychic reduced the damage that Breloom could do with its huge attack stat and fighting type attacks. Not only had that but the steel that encrusted Metagross made for a hefty shield. My confidence rose with each second.

    However, this Breloom was not any sort of weakling; you could see that just by its physical stature.

    “Metagross, use Hone Claws; you’ll be able to damage Breloom more,” I said, hoping strategies that worked in trainer battles would come through and make miracles against this Breloom. Metagross’s claws began to shine, not only that but they grew twice in size. No longer did it have claws, but daggers. “Now attack Breloom with Zen Headbutt.”

    Metagross seemed to calm its body, going into a peaceful mindset. His enormous silver claws lifted off the ground, meditating and levitating. As the blue metal monster calmed its body grew stronger and stronger. Seconds later, Metagross swiftly shifted the top of its head towards the Pokémon down the trail. With a roar its body flung at ridiculous speed, turning into a flash of blue, and slashed down the trail.

    With the sonic speed dirt flushed up from all angles around, blinding me and hopefully Breloom. I crossed my fingers hoping the attack would make contact.

    OOC: That was fine. It's only when you try to make it do moves or bunny it so your attacks are more effective that we run into problems. Also, it's easier to rp Trainer Pokemon if they have a gender, so I'mma refer to your Metagross as male. Unless you'd prefer I refer to it as female?

    ~~~~~
    "All right, I'm actually prepared for this one." Junior replied.
    Metagross instinctively knew that he would be the one to battle the Breloom. He walked carefully out in front of his Trainer, preparing to do battle. He knew he'd have to be careful - Breloom came armed with plenty of nasty tricks. Spore, Leech Seed, Mach Punch, and any one of three nasty Abilities - Metagross would have to watch the tricky Pokemon very carefully if he didn't want to be taken down by a surprise attack.
    Despite wishing to help his master capture the Fighting-typed Pokemon, Metagross refused to take the Breloom by surprise. He grunted loudly, and the Breloom's head shot up. It looked over at the challenger, and returned a braying call, accepting the challenge. It flexed the muscles on its small arms, ready to take on this strange creature that refused to recognise its superiority.
    “Metagross, use Hone Claws; you’ll be able to damage Breloom more," Junior said.
    Metagross rose higher off the ground and closed its eyes, concentrating. The claws on his blue arms flexed in and out, scraping against its metal body and producing a slight rasping sound. I knew the extra articulation would increase both Metagross' attack power and accuracy, which would help out a lot in this fight. The Breloom saw the giant blue beast preparing for battle, and it decided to do the same. It continued to flex its muscles, but now it was also stretching its legs and tensing its tail. I'd seen this technique before, Dual used it often - it was Bulk Up. This added physical bulk to the Pokemon who used it, allowing them to go toe-to-toe for longer and deal out more damage than usual.
    “Now attack Breloom with Zen Headbutt," Junior ordered.
    Metagross roared and shifted his head forward, beginning to move towards the Breloom. As he got closer he picked up speed, becoming little more than a blue blur. Purple energy gathered around the big grey X on his face, and he slammed into the Breloom hard, knocking it over and continuing to fly over it. The Breloom was ready, though - it lashed out at Metagross' underbelly with one of its fists. The blow knocked Metagross off-balance, and he toppled over onto his side, with the Breloom between him and his Trainer. It didn't look like the attack did too much damage, but then again it was a response, not an offensive. Who knows what plans the Breloom had?
    Metagross tumbled over down the path at the retaliation from Breloom, a hole formed each time his body slammed into the ground. Dust filled the air. The visibility dropped tremendously. Luckily Metagross’ Hone Claws attacked and lifted his accuracy and ability to make contact a good amount.
    “Get up!” I yelled, surprised that Breloom was able to do that much damage from what looked like a flick of the wrist. The Pokémon really was a fighter, though its appearance as we had first saw it made it look rather weak – but don’t judge a book by its cover, they say.
    Metagross planted its claws back on the ground; he seemed to have left his guard down when rushing, but he was strong; there was no backing down in his mind. “We’ll have to change our strategy up a little here. Use Iron Defense.”
    As Breloom stood facing me, Metagross began to power-up. Eyes closed, his body began to shake – his blue metal coat turned into dull silver. The X across his face turned yellow. A groan came out from the mouth located on the bottom of his main body piece; more dust flew up, lowering the visibility even more. The dirt calmed quickly though, and with it the dull coat shattered from Metagross’ body. The blue color returned, but it was different – no longer was it dull, but shiny and rigid. Breloom would have a tough time penetrating this new exoskeleton.
    “Now, let’s try and use the environment to our advantage.” I began to look around for something that Metagross could use to bind Breloom with. A large tree root stuck out from under the ground a few meters from where Metagross now stood, “Use your psychic ability to curl Breloom with those roots.”
    <Make sure the roots come out from under you though, spit out Toxic onto them so Breloom has a chance of getting poisoned,> I thought to him, hoping Metagross could hear me and pull out the combination attack, <Hopefully he won’t have the Poison Heal ability.>
    Metagross pointed one of his claws toward the thick root and pulled his arm up, the dark dirt covered root followed the motion of his hand. At the root flew up into the air Metagross slammed his claws back onto the ground, the root did as well, creating a small crater in the grassy surface.
    The possessed root traveled underground, making its way behind Metagross. It slowly revealed itself the closer it got to Metagross’s underbelly, as it did toxic spores were spit out onto the thick thread. As soon as a few meters were covered with the venom Metagross shot both his arms forward, a signal for the thick rope to envelope Breloom and possibly poison it.
    OOC: Breloom gender?
    ~~~~~

    "Get up!" Junior called out, sounding a bit worried. There was no reason to be that way, however. Metagross easily got up and shook himself, little pieces of dirt flying off him. It looked a little bit like how dogs shook the water out of their fur after a swim. He turned around and gave a hard stare to the Breloom, apparently not happy with the way things were going.

    “We’ll have to change our strategy up a little here. Use Iron Defense," Junior ordered.

    Metagross nodded, and his body started glowing bright silver. The leftover dust shot off of his body, making it look like he was exuding brown waves of power. His normally blue body turned to gray as it hardened, and for some reason the X on his face started glowing gold. If a Pokemon could go Super Saiyan, Metagross just had.

    Breloom didn't really notice any of this, it was too busy sizing up Junior. It decided to taunt him a little bit, jumping up and down and flexing his muscles, just generally showing off. It bleated something that was probably an insult, and then turned back to look at Metagross. It took a step back when it saw the Psychic-type's new form, but it wasn't going to run away.

    "Now, let's try and use the environment to our advantage," Junior called out. “Use your psychic ability to curl around Breloom with those roots.”

    Metagross pointed one of his feet at a tree root, and it suddenly dug deeper into the ground. The tip emerged from beneath the earth right in front of Metagross' face, and as it slowly extended outwards, he opened his mouth wide. Purple sludge dripped out of his mouth onto the root, coating it in poison. When a good three metres or so were stained in purple, the vine suddenly shot forwards, towards the Breloom. It wound around its legs and halfway up his body, getting the purple stains everywhere and pulling it close to the ground. It took all of the Breloom's strength to just stay standing.

    It looked at the Metagross with eyes full of hate, and opened its small mouth. A blindingly bright energy blast exploded out of its mouth, travelling across to Metagross and knocking into him. Luckily, Breloom wasn't very good at special attacks so it wouldn't have hurt too much, but this trick with the vine was only a delaying tactic, and the poison didn't seem to be affecting the Wild Pokemon, at least it hadn't yet.

    ooc: male!

    Metagross easily shook off the blast of energy that Breloom had just shot at him. The hit had hardly done any damage to Metagross, but special attacks weren’t going to be doing much of anything from Breloom. It was all about the physical attacks, but now we had that covered with my defensive tactic in Iron Defense – Metagross no longer had to worry about taking any tremendous damage in battle.

    Breloom was tired from being strangled, but the poison had not seemed to kick in, “I hope that thing doesn’t have the Poison Heal ability,” I sighed, “Or maybe the intoxicating failed completely.”

    Without a call of attack Metagross began to attack, but I felt confident with this; Metagross were some of the smartest Pokémon in existence. Not only that but Metagross had a courageous heart, when in battle he battled to the end – never showing sign of weakness. To attack, Metagross slammed claws against the ground simultaneously. The dirt path began to ripple and crack apart, the trees in the surrounding leaned to the side.

    The attack was taking a toll on the entire environment, I hope this doesn’t need to get repaired, ‘cos I ain’t paying, I thought. Green leaves floated down from above, as if being tossed in a salad. The path then split apart, bits and pieces of it disappeared, dirt began to pour down the crevices. Only few platforms of earth were left to stand on – I jumped off to the grass fearing the ground beneath me would also cease to exist

    “Now, Metagross, speed yourself up with Agility then hit him with a Metal Claw!”

    Metagross nodded, he jumped place to place, his pace exploding with speed each second. Eventually he was a blob of blue shooting left and right down the destroyed path, Metagross’s speed had grown exponentially. “Hit ‘em hard, Metagross!”

    Through the shifting shapes you could see a shimmer of something shiny; Metagross’s claws had grown longer and even shinier, yet again. As the dust cleared Metagross came shooting out, his body barely recognizable through the supersonic speed, but the claws and edges of his hove like feet looked ready to do some serious damage, and they were aimed directly toward Breloom.

    “I hope that thing doesn’t have the Poison Heal ability. Or maybe the intoxicating failed completely," Junior mused.

    "I wouldn't count your balls before they capped," I said, pointing at the Breloom. It was struggling with the root, pulling and yanking at it with its two stubby arms. Its tail lashed angrily - it was clearly not pleased with the way this battle was progressing. And it was about to get worse. The Breloom burped, and a small purple bubble rose into the air. It gazed at the bubble in shock, and it knew the same thing I did - the Toxic had finally started taking effect.

    This was both a good thing and a bad thing for Junior. It would constantly wear down the Breloom, and poisoned Pokemon often didn't have the stamina to resist a capture. However, it also put a timer on this battle, and one that was often unforgiving - Junior now had maybe five minutes before this Breloom was rendered too sick to fight, and therefore uncapturable.

    I took a look around the area - huge chunks of dirt had been carved out, and fairly soon that Toxic would start leeching into the ground, which needed to be stopped. I'd leave that up to Junior for now, though.

    “Now, Metagross, speed yourself up with Agility then hit him with a Metal Claw!” Junior ordered.

    Metagross nodded and began jumping from side to side, freeing up his muscles and becoming faster on each jump. Within the space of half a minute, he was very little more than a bright grey-and-yellow blur, which shot forwards at the very second Junior shouted, "Hit 'em hard, Metagross!"

    The Breloom saw the incoming Steel-type, and tugged more frantically at the root that was holding him captive. It began to give, but the Mushroom Pokemon knew it wasn't going to break in time. Instead, it looked up at the Metagross and assumed an artfully innocent expression. Its eyes grew wide and its lips wobbled, conveying fear and helplessness. I saw the blur slow down and shake a bit, like Metagross was starting to reconsider, but the crab-like Pokemon plowed into the stationary Grass-type, knocking it out of the root and sending it flying across the ground.

    The Breloom groaned as it slowly got to its feet. It swung its tail as it did so, and the small club-like formation of spheres at the tip started to glow bright yellow. Small spores began flying into the air, floating on an almost non-existant breeze towards Metagross. Junior would have to think fast if he didn't want to deal with a status problem.

    Breloom had not learned the Poison Heal ability, so I was lucky in that aspect. However, Breloom was not going to make it too much longer in battle, as the toxic was now finally taking full effect. I had to hurry up and do a large amount of damage then try and capture it. However, Breloom had used its leisure attitude to draw Metagross into thinking the battle was easily going to be won, but this wasn't the case. Metagross failed to realize this and it had let its previous power ups drip away.

    "Before those spores hit you, Metagross, try to use Substitute. I know it'll knock down your health, but it is better than being paralyzed!"

    Metagross put up a shield around itself, it slowly encased the Pokemon. A shell began to surround Metagross; it looked as if it were stuffed with fluff from a teddy bear. The spores came flying by, hopefully this new encasing would protect Metagross from the incoming spores.

    “All right Metagross, time to make a slam this Breloom before it dies out from that toxic. You’ve gotta use Ice Punch. I know you can remember it.”

    Metagross stood still for a moment, trying to remember of how he could use this move; he had not used it in ages, Metagross had almost forgotten he even had the ability to muster up such an attack. Metagross closed his eyes for a moment, trying to reveal the move to himself…

    ~~~
    “C’mon, Metagross, try again to use Ice Punch,” my trainer yelled to me, obviously frustrated, “You can do it!”
    The heavy blankets of snow pelted down onto us; we’d been training in this terrible condition for hours and hours at end. I wasn’t sure how Junior could even manage to bare such fearsome cold. Abomasnow stood behind him, watching me fail over and over. I hated it, even worse than losing a battle. I stood still, trying to get my claws to freeze over. Maybe that was the key to getting this tricky new attack to work.
    I dug my claw deep into the snow, which was now up to my trainer’s knees, and when it began to hurt I pulled out then charged forward aiming for a tree a good twenty meters away. I could see the frost beginning to form around my grip; it felt like my entire body had turned into ice. That painfully numb feeling had overcome every part of my body, especially the hand that I had plowed into the snow.
    Reaching the tree I slammed my claw into its trunk, it shook and the snow dropped from it. I paused, thinking I had failed yet again but was I wrong. When I looked up the tree was no longer the brown color of bark but it was the translucent color of ice. My Ice Punch attack had finally worked; this was only the beginning though, I had used the attack in pure cold.
    Junior would ask more from me – for me to be able to use the attack in any condition, even the absolute worse. And I would learn … I would have to.
    After practicing and master the attack a many times Junior finally thought I had the basic usage of the move down. “We’re done for the day. Tomorrow you’re going to have to do it without any kind of weather.”
    ___
    The next day we did just that. It took a while for me to get it, but I was able to calm myself enough to get my body to freeze my claw enough to he able to freeze another tree. I could feel myself getting stronger, my body remembering how to do the move.
    The next day would not be an easy one though, I had a feeling this would be one of the hardest challenges I would ever face.
    ___
    “Infernape, use Sunny Day!”
    With that command my challenge would begin. One of Junior’s strongest Pokémon puffed her body up, then let go all his energy. Fire blew from her mouth into the sky; the flames furiously took over the sky, the sheer heat from them made the surrounding trees set a flame. Small flares shot down from the burning leaves and branches, as if an arsenal of fireworks had gone off and their ashes were now floating down upon us.
    But that wasn’t the only thing Junior was going to challenge me with, he used another fire-Pokémon, his very first Pokémon, to raise the intensity even more. “Typhlosion, Eruption!”
    Typhlosion roared, like a volcano does before it spills lava, then the flames from his back side grew in size tenfold. As he continued to roar fire splattered out from his mouth, the fire coming from his back grew in size as well. More trees set a fire, the forest would likely burn to the ground soon if I didn’t successfully use Ice Punch. But these conditions were utterly ridiculous.
    “All right, ‘Gross, you got this,” he said, winking to me. Typhlosion and Infernape glared at me, as if they weren’t confident in me. I knew I could do this though, maybe their intimidation was all part of Junior’s plans to get me more and more motivated to finally master this move.
    I sat still for a moment, letting my body calm, trying to get it to cool down. But the intense heat created from all the fire made this trial next to impossible, how in the Mewtwo’s name could I possibly freeze my claws into ice in these conditions? Still, I tried calming my body more and more; I could feel the icy cold coming to me, but it was deep down. Maybe this was the point of it all: I had to believe in myself, I had to be courageous; I couldn’t be a wimp about this.
    Growling angrily I looked for a tree to charge at, I found one to the west of me. I charge it. Flames were now engrossing the ground, I could feel the cold sensation of the attack trying to escape from my grip, but I held onto it best I could. I got closer and closer to the tree. As my body grew closer I wiped out my arm, a pleasant surprise: it was frozen cold, steam was coming off of it, from the fires. My claws slammed into the tree, almost going through it, and frozen the tree solid.
    As quickly as the tree had turned into ice it turned into water, then steam.
    I turned to face Junior, his eyes wide and jaw dropped. Infernape and Typhlosion gave me applause. Before I could even make my way back to my trainer he had sent out an arsenal or water Pokémon to rid of the flames than had overcome the greenery of the forest. It would take a while for the forest to get back to normal. The Pokémon each shot streams of water at anywhere there was fire. Kingdra, a dragon Pokémon, even used a special ritual to make the intense Sunny Day to turn into a dark rainy day.
    “I’m proud of you, Softie,” Junior told me. He had given me the silly nickname trying to be clever by naming me something I was the exact opposite of. Other of my friends and his Pokémon he had done the same with. “Hopefully that attack will come in handy some day.”
    ~~~

    <Today is that victorious day,> Metagross thought, replying to what I had said the day he'd finally mastered this tutor move.

    Metagross’ eyes shot open; in those few moments he had recalled how to use this icy attack, though he was not an ice Pokémon at all. The freezing sensation had been building up inside of him in the time he took to re-teach himself how to blast Breloom with the bitterly cold punch.

    Before even moving an inch in Breloom’s direction a mound of ice had built up around Metagross’s right claw and arm; his entire arm was steamy from the extreme cold. Ice leaked onto the ground that was still shattered, it filled up the spaces that had previously been craters. The battlefield was now partially covered in ice.

    Then Metagross used its increased speed to charge at Breloom. With each movement the ground was splattered with ice – the same that would happen to Breloom if the Ice Punch were to make contact. Metagross’s eyes shine crystal as it slashed to Breloom with his frozen dagger like claws.

    This epic punch had the ability to do enormous damage.

    OOC: Sorry about this being late, it turns out AIs don't like it when you screw around with their parameters.

    ~~~~~
    "Before those spores hit you, Metagross, try to use Substitute. I know it'll knock down your health, but it is better than being paralyzed!" Junior called.
    I nodded. It was a smart move, especially considering Junior didn't have any healing items on him. I had a couple of Revival Herbs I could sell him, but they didn't work until the Pokemon fainted, so if Metagross became paralyzed he wouldn't be able to be cured of it until after he fainted. That meant he'd be a burden to the team, which was an extremely undesirable outcome.
    Small wisps of white-gray air began to puff outwards from Metagross' silver body, swirling around the metal beast, constructing a tortoise-shell-shaped cocoon that was barely visible to the naked eye. I could see it quite well through my visor, though, and I saw that the seemingly useless shield covered Metagross entirely. I also noticed that Metagross seemed to be a little more tired than it was before - Substitute was an incredibly useful move, but it came at a high energy price.
    The yellow spores wafted past Metagross, who stayed stock-still as the Breloom got to its feet. The cloud of dust passed the Steel type, and it didn't look like he had been affected by them. Metagross was now at a huge advantage - he had an intact Substitute shield, and considering the Iron Defense that he had used there was very little the Breloom could do to get past his defenses.
    “All right Metagross, time to make a slam this Breloom before it dies out from that toxic. You’ve gotta use Ice Punch. I know you can remember it," Junior encouraged his Pokemon.
    Metagross' eyes snapped upwards to the Breloom, watching it carefully. The Breloom was doing the same, making small shuffling movements and lowering its centre of gravity. A chunk of ice began to swell around Metagross' right arm, slowing progressing towards his torso. For every centimetre it progressed upwards, a litre or so of water sloshed onto the ground, churning the dust into mud and flowing into some of the nearby craters. The ground directly under Metagross even underwent flash-freezing, becoming little more than a slab of ice.
    When the chunk of ice covered most of his arm, Metagross shot forward, holding his arm out in front of him like a spear. The Breloom shuffled again, keeping a close eye on the Ice Punch that was incoming. At the last second before being struck by the attack, Breloom jumped. This caused only the upper part of the attack to clip him and knock him over Metagross. As he flew over the Steel-type, somersaulting through the air, his tail began glowing bright white. When he was directly over Metagross, he slammed the tip of his tail onto Metagross' body.
    The attack was so strong that Metagross was thrust into the ground, sending small fissures zigzagging outwards. But the Breloom wasn't done. It landed on its feet and turned quickly, facing its temporarily stunned opponent. It extended its right arm towards Metagross and three bright green lights lanced out from its palm. Two struck Metagross' body and one made contact with his rear right leg. The green lights dimmed to reveal some strangely clam-like seeds that were spreading vines across Metagross' body. As they did so, the clam-seeds began to open and small sprouts began to emerge. When they got a little bigger, the Breloom would be able to sap Metagross's energy directly through these Leech Seeds.
